Which old cartoons would you like to see re-released in 16:9 & 1080p?
>>
>16:6

Nah, keep it 4:3 but Ed Edd and Eddy and Courage.

Ideally, all cartoons though.
>>

>keep it 4:3
how about the shows originally mastered in 16:9 but cropped to 4:3 for airing?
>>
>>89079934
I wouldn't want the original aspect ratio to change for anything. Width isn't the same as quality.

I would love an official HD remastering of Avatar TLA though. I heard there were some ugly artifacts on the DVD. There's a fan upscale that looks okay but they had to work with the shit from the DVDs. I want Nick to do it with their original material instead of the DVDs. I don't know how possible that is though.

That'd be beyond remastering. That'd be re-creating. They'd have to go in and draw more stuff for every frame. 4:3 shows were already created with that aspect ratio in mind and it would completely change the framing of scenes to make it 16:9. And it would be so much extra work you might as well make an entire other show instead.

This entire show is made completely with flash vectors. Converting it to 1080p (or higher) would take two fucking seconds and it STILL isn't available in HD.
>>
>>89080019
This happened? What would be the reason to make it in 16:9 if they're going to crop it when it airs?
>>
Was the first episode of South Park redone in HD?
>>

>That'd be re-creating.
nope, there is some legit oldish (2000-2010) shows that where originally mastered in 16:9 (or at least a few seasons where) and aired in 4:3.

probably to future-proof their content for their eventual airing on HD channels or licensing. I believe Disney started making their TV Cartoon content in HD around 2001, and CN as early as 2004.

>>89080116
what's the name of the show? I can check to see if international channels got widescreen copies licensed.
>>
Funimation did this year's ago to dragonball. Cartoons that are older weren't made to that size and with dragon ball you had things like the tops of heads being cut off as you are loosing the image by cutting the top and or bottom off to stretch it. One piece is in HD now and some times they use old footage with a boarder on the sides. Alice in Wonderland did this too.

Oh, sorry. I misread the comment. I missed the "originally". Yeah, if the width exists I want it released.

The Buzz on Maggie,
ran 2005 on Disney channel

I can't find anything recent, sorry

I would do anything for a HD rerelease boxset of Ed, Edd and Eddy.

I also want lots of bonus features and commentary.
>>
>>89080287
>bonus features and commentary
Fuck yes. Anyone who releases a DVD or blu-ray and skimps on bonus material should be ashamed. It's the main reason I get physical discs. It's harder to find bonus material online.
>>
>>89080329
It's annoying when they only release in DVD. I bought Sym-Bionic but it would be sweet if it had Blu-ray.
>>
I'm surprised that Samurai Jack has not been requested yet. HD 1080p Jack would be the best

Fuck, now I want to watch it.
>>
>>89080116
that show was produced in HD and aired in that format in the late 2000s during graveyard hours on disney channel along with dave the barbarian and other short failures. don't know why no one recorded them. i think the HD broadcast for disney channel had just begun then and not many people had it.
>>
Samurai Jack, Ed Edd n Eddy, Courage, and Avatar all immediately come to mind, although as has already been mentioned preferably all cartoons at some point.
>>
>>89083569
Avatar was coloured in SD, and the final masters are in SD. There is no way to """""remaster""""" it in 1080p. You can upscale, and it is the only option.
