My theory is that he's actually Queen Hippolyta's son, the first male child born into the Amazons in over 3000 years. The Amazons took his birth as a sign that it was time for them to reconnect with the outside world, which is why the Earth-11 Amazons have more global influence.

I've written similar backstories in my head for all the Earth-11 characters, and most of the other characters from the Multiversity Guidebook as well.

We know from the description of Earth-11 that the Amazons are still female, and the Justice Guild has Jesse Quick and Star Sapphire instead of a female Flash and Green Lantern. So there's clearly something more complicated going on with that Earth's gimmick then just a strait 1-to-1 gender swap.

Maybe on Earth-11, Donald Blake became a major figure in Batwoman's rogues gallery, while Selina Kyle was a forgotten silver age villain who was later revived as a member of the Secret Six.
