Thanoscopter loving plebs, bow down to your new God, the Infinity Gauntletmobile.

Dear God....no one vehicle should have that much power.

I'd gladly sacrifice my legs for the ability to drive around in a giant, fully powered Infinity Gauntlet.

Is this your first time seeing them?
Because they came out last year.
Early last year.
So bet you can find them cheap if you look in the right places~
>>
>>88843689
New wave just came out though.
>>
>>88843689

Yeah, a lot of last year's are already clearanced to make room for this year's assortment. 50% off if you can still find them.

Only problems are the aforementioned goofy-looking faces and the midget proportions. Their legs are Lego kids' legs, not full-sized.
>>
>>88841725
It's glorious.
>>
>>88843770
It sucks that Lego feels the need to make minifigures collectibles, because the only way to get a Flash minifig is to buy an expensive ass set that barely has anything to do with the Flash in it. These little sets should have proper minifigs with normal heads and functioning full-size legs, but Lego like to fuck you into buying big sets to get what you want.
>>
>>88841725
I'm going to buy two so I can mirror one of them to create a second Infinity Gauntlet for an Infinity Mech; a Mecha piloted by the Thanos Twins that's powered by TWELVE Infinity Gems
Nothing in this mortal world can stop me.
>>
>>88843823

That set has Grodd and Captain Cold, it has more to do with Flash than Batman or Wonder Woman.

>Most of the current original lego themes are complete shit though.
As are the licenced ones, even moreso, they just still appeal to people thanks to the licence. I mean come on, half of this thread is micro-figs with shoddy karts that make the worst current City starter sets look complex.

And since people keep buying the crappy licenced sets by the bundle despite them being overpriced trash, Lego has no incentive to give us proper original sets.

Licensed Lego both saved Lego and killed Lego.
>>
>>88856502
Mighty micros aren't really a good example of why licensed sets are shit, they're just a sub-line.
We still get decently sized licensed stuff like this and even bigger shit like the Disney World castle.

I just don't give a shit about Joker's car, or any character's car this side of the Batmobile and the Spider buggy, and that's all they seem to make with half of those sets.
That or underwhelming versions of locations, which is closer to what I'd like but really not there.

None of this shit makes me want to build it, because it looks like they did the minimal amount of effort they could so that people would buy them.

>>88856502
And the original themes they do release aren't used to their full potential.

Faber, who was one of the big creative forces behind Bionicle, posted on his Blog (Said post was later removed, likley because of pressure from Lego) that Hero Factory had a massive amount of work put into it to ensure it would be a worthy successor to Bionicle.

However Lego decided not to use this, and instead the way forward was sets with many parts being big shells which made up most of the figure and no backstory. Of course HF was eventually cancelled with barley any of what was involved in development being used, which meant the first wave was dull to build and there was nothing in the story put across worth being interested in.

Lego's plastic and parts design also took a massive nosedive.
The walls of the bricks were made thinner and the studs were redesigned to use less plastic and most one stud wide bricks and Technic axle connectors are prone to breaking.
Some people assume that it has something to do with either their plastic mixture or with the parts cooling off too fast, resulting in internal stress.

Happens with a lot of sets due to them being made long before the movie is finished.
PotC fountain of life looked nothing like in the movie due to being based on unused concept art, Agent Carter was featured in the airport battle set despite not being part of it in the movie due to her appearing in the promo art and the less said about the Mandarin's firespewing Zamboni the better.

>And the original themes they do release aren't used to their full potential.

What the hell full potential do you want them to realize?
Ninjago's been going for 7 years! With a TV show! And a fucking movie in the fall!
Chima had a TV show and lasted like 3 years.
Nexo Knights has a TV show.

Mixels are fantastically fun small builds.

Many of the sets for these themes have more advanced building techniques than many older sets, due to a proliferation of SNOT bricks.
Lego Creator continues to come out with a lot of great sets, including a Tenth Anniversary Modular building with three floors worth of businesses.

Frankly, the only place Lego is kind of a letdown is in the traditional mainstay of Space, which hasn't gotten a new theme in a few years and who lost trans-neon orange to Nexo Knights.

>Bionicle
>Hero Factory

Oh. maybe that's your problem. You're mad they aren't doing non-licensed action figure builders anymore.
>>
>>88861165

omg, is that Phil Collins?!
>>
>>88861165
Mixels is cancelled and the final waves were store exclusives.
Chima got preemptively cancelled and the show was greatly disliked for its poor writing.
Nexo Knights is just a Ninjago-clone with knights.

>>
>>88853233

Lego does this a lot for movie sets now to avoid spoilers. Marvel, Jurassic World and so on. They tweak things or insert characters who aren't there, and such to have it be Legos own version of the story and not a carbon copy of it.

Like the Ant-man set came with 2 Ant-man figures, pym and lang both in suits. People were like "omg michael douglas will wear the suit in the movie!" I mean... he did, sort of, just not fighting yellowjacket.

Shit. That's sad to see.
I actually found an old Lego set with pieces from the 50s and 60s. It actually had different sets from different years mixed into it. Interesting to see how flimsy they were compared to their modern bricks.

Yeah, most of them are easy to find swaps for, although I guess I'm lucky that I have a large pool of spare minifig legs in basic colors

>I was too busy looking at the figures to notice how hilarious the carts are
Same. Now I'm actually a lot more impressed with the sets

Not that anon, but the way Lego handled their in-house action figure themes (and many licences ones for that matter) was truly pathetic and the definition of wasting potential, both set-wise and multimedia-wise. This was a major screw up since these lines were built around the concept of media tie-ins and expanded universes that reached far beyond just the toys.

Sets were of mixed quality that often made poor use of the action figure building system and its molds, and the media presentation was minimalistic and cynically dumbed down, which is why no one bought them.

And many of Lego's simplifications didn't even make sense. When I opened up their 2015 catalogue, Ninjago had an actual brief plot summary, notes on its storyline continuity and all the characters were labeled with names so that kids could learn them better. Even lesser-tier stuff like Chima and Ultra Agents received that sort of attention, not to mention licenced themes.

In comparison, the then recently re-released Bionicle had a simple non-chalant blurb saying "they're back and they fight evil" and nothing else, and half the characters didn't even get names. Even their website was a miserable, mishandled mess with barely any content for new and older fans to latch onto, and their media releases were just as mismanaged.
>>
>>88873337
Bionicle G2 excited me at first, but it seriously had the feeling of "I really wish I weren't here right now" all over it. It's a shame. G1 wound up being a convoluted mess, but it was a creative convoluted mess with great sets even as they got a bit staler towards the later seasons
