They are sort of a free reign deal to write for. You have "rules" and trammels with the "big boy avengers" but these guys? Do whatever the fuck you want, as long as it's funny and they get their noses rubbed in what schmucks they are regularly.

That is something you can relate to, too. They are actually fairly competent, but flawed. And variously only marginally successful. A lot of people in general and those who read comics do have at least something going for them, but it never really gelled. Not even at the level one could expect with some level of ability.

Maybe I'm projecting? Probably. But I can relate to it. I'm not a dumb guy, but my flaws and poor decisions mean I'm not doing what I could be.

That's because Darkforce no? I understood that it came from Oblivion picking his champions from Darkforce users, so darkforce powers are incidental while the real Oblivion powers are death sense, immortality and free travel to the afterlife.

Dunno if there's an actual "erasing" power out there, but it would make sense, and also be horribly overpowered. I think Maelstrom had something like that?

So I bought this at my LGS just the other day and the LGS guy was straight up talking about how Doorman is the superhero equivalent of the Spot. He's stupidly, brokenly powerful, but chooses to use his powers for really stupid things, like teleporting his friends through locked doors and shit. None of this info was solicited, the LGS guy just started talking about it, I guess he's a huge Doorman fan. Took me forever to get my receipt.

Tl;dr Doorman could go cosmic, he just can't be fucked and would rather chill around with his GLA bros. Besides, he seems smart enough to know that the more you hang around Galactus and co, the more likely it is you'll wind up in some huge cosmic battle. Not really ideal for a guy who just wants to punch thugs in Detroit.

Bertha and Flatman are kinda hurt by the "current year" diversity mentality, and the blatant Deviantart Furry should tell you all you need to know, but Doorman and Immortal remain just as enjoyable.

The furry could still be a good parody, but up to this point it sill feels like it's being played straight.

Overall it's ok, but it doesn't feel cynical enough, like the Slott run of GLA or Superior Foes of Spider-Man.
