I just finished pic related and I didn´t understand a shit. Where do I start to get into transformers? I know there are like 3 or 4 cartoons and comics (I don´t think anyone would recomend the movies).

If you're younger, I'd maybe start with TF:Prime. I feel like the 80s cartoon maybe holds up pretty well if you go in expecting it to be kinda silly. I first watched it in reruns 20+ years ago.

As for comics, More Than Meets the Eye was pretty popular during its first few years (up to issue 22) though in more recent years fans have become considerably more critical of the writing. Still, I would recommend it as the best jumping on point to see if it's something that grabs your interest.
>>
If you want to understand that particular game, then start with G1, aka the original Transformers series

If you're an older fuck who's seen plenty of 80s shows before and know what you're gonna get, like the other anon said it holds up fine....if you're really young you'll probably be triggered by it....if you kinda wanna feel for it but don't know if you wanna dive deep into it, you could start by just watching the G1 theatrical movie "Transformers The Movie", it's pretty easy to get into I think without having seen the rest of the series that leads up to it but then again if you were confused by that game it might also confuse you....but hey, it's only an hour and a half long

There are also 11 TF cartoons thus far if we're talking strictly Western releases....Animated or TF Prime are decent but are their own universes not related to G1 , which is what Devastation was based on
>>
>>88737109

If you want to try G1, start with Transformers the Movie. It's kinda the apex.

If you don't like it, then don't bother with the TV series because it's worse. If you couldn't get into the Movie you won't stand a chance of enjoying the show.
>>
Read the G1 comics, they're better than the cartoon.

>sequel never
>tmnt will never get a game as good as this instead we got korra two
both things saddened me, devastation sequel could have had a decepticon campaign
tmnt all it need was to remove ninjutsu and add actual combos instead of just having one combo string, oh and focusing on combo attacks and making items less important then switching turtles the online is dead and if they just made turtle switching a focus singleplayer would improve greatly
>>
>>88739776
>devastation sequel could have had a decepticon campaign

The voice actors probably cost too much to make a sequel feasible.

Welker and Cullen are some of the priciest VAs in the industry before you cross the threshold into movie celebrity tier.
>>
>>88739819
Hasbro was using this to start their big push into gaming though and it even had a sequel hook, so did tmnt and it is just sad neither are getting sequels, mostly tmnt though because it was pretty bad and the turtles deserve a good game thats not 20 years old
>>
>>88739819

Shame we aren't getting a Titans Return game. Maybe Power of the Primes, if we're lucky...

I don't know, I remember the Cybertron games that came out quite a while ago now were pretty well received

Plus, bad or good, TF games have been coming out for a while already with the movie games
>>
>>88740011
hasbro said this was there push though into gaming which is different then before since this was a game they said they had more of a part in. I played those games as well
>>
>>88740076
>hasbro said this was there push though into gaming

Yeah, and The Hub was their push into having a cable network.

Hasbro says a lotta things.
>>
>>88740183

Thats what The Hub was. Not their fault it had shit distribution.

Transformers reinvents itself with pretty much every iteration even if they share similar concepts. It's best to just choose one and see where it goes, though Devastation takes after Generation 1 with some references to other series.
>>
lol there's nothing to understand about this game

megatron is a bad robot who does bad things, now beat the shit out of him
>>
>>88739650
remember when those decepticons were just glaring at dead eyes like he was a really unsettling spider?
>>
>>88740685
yeah but what about the deepest lore?

SNAKE eyes.

>Thanks. Also, how are the comics?

The Marvel comics are classic 80s Marvel stuff. Lots of exposition dialogue and silly plots, but they have a retro charm about them.

The IDW stuff is divisive. Suffers from a constant shift in creative teams that each want to do something completely different and disregard what the last guy was building to.

So you end up with a lot of plot threads that start building and building and building and then TEAM CHANGE and suddenly everything that you were being lead to is ignored and it's time to start all over. I couldn't get into them because of that.
>>
>>88740737
it's not like you needed any of it to understand this game
>>
>>88740802
IDW has had a pretty stable creative team since 2012, which has helped a lot. The only problem is that Hasbro now forces periodic toy tie-ins which can be pretty disruptive.
>>
>>88741045

I dropped IDW after the Furman-McCarthy-Costa succession of teams. It was impossible for me to give a shit about anything when the creative teams kept changing so rapidly and ignoring everything the last team was building toward.
>>
>>88741045

The problem now isn't a rapid change in creative teams, but that the creative team they've had can't keep their Marvel tier politics out of the book.

Transgender robots? Really? Fuck this shit.
>>
>>88741303

Haha, oh anon, surely nothing that fucking stupid happened. I mean, no one's THAT retarded to put something like that in their comics right? RIGHT?
>>
>>88741461
>I mean, no one's THAT retarded to put something like that in their comics right? RIGHT?

The homosexual robots (Chromedome, Rewind, Cyclonus) I could understand.
The transsexual robot (Arcee) was a weird one-off
But the transgender robot (Tailgate) was just stupid beyond my threshold for such things.

Fuckin dropped.
>>
>>88741713
Fucking idiot.
>>
>>88741303
>Transgender robots

Uggghhhhhhh...

When will the transgender thing stop being trendy and just fuckin die?
>>
>>88740776
Imagine how nuts fighting Sixshot in Devastation would be.
>>
>>88741268
Yeah, but anon, it's really not fair to describe the comics to newbies based on how they were 5+ years ago. I stopped reading after Devastation too, then jumped back in when Barber's RiD and Roberts' MTMTE began, and haven't had that hard a time following anything. Barber's an okay writer, but an AMAZING editor. He manages to reconcile all those disparate plots/takes on characters by different writers into a cohesive whole, and has kept everything pretty consistent since then, even with Hasbro forcing him to retcon Cybertron's backstory to be more like Aligned.
>>
>>88741713
...Tailgate isn't transgender, ya fuckface. I mean, I know some tumblrinas push that interpretation, but I have read every issue of MTMTE and never once has he come off as noticably "feminine" or declared "I'm a femmebot now, change your pronouns silly cis-bots". He's just small and naive. If some crazy people think that makes him female, that says more about them than it does the writing.
>>
>>88742038
>If some crazy people think

If by "some crazy people" you mean James Roberts, the fucking WRITER...

>Fan speculation about Tailgate's gender—always presented as male—broke out across Tumblr (because of course) when a More than Meets the Eye promo called him "The Ingenue", a term for a female stock character.[2] This was completely unintentional but Roberts was "pleased" to find out what he'd accidentally done.[3] He went on to approve of Susan Blu being cast as Tailgate in "Prevenge" when it was run by him pre-BotCon and say at an Auto Assembly panel that he was convinced Tailgate's holoform was a girl baby.
