>“For years, Marvel Comics and Hip-Hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialog,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces in when we unveil the first of more than fifty variant covers, each of which pays tribute to an iconic album cover from the past 30 years that shaped pop-culture over the past three decades.”
So now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that Marvel's Hip-Hop Cover initiative has been one of the most interesting and successful artistic movements in modern comics?

Not really. I've never even seen these covers at the store. Besides, whatever artistic merit the covers bring comes from the original designer or the album sleeve, not the guy who was paid to rip off - I mean, uh, pay homage to, the album using a Marvel character.

I would have agreed were it not for the fact that they're all insane incentive covers so no one but crazy collectors willing to drop hundreds of bucks on them will ever get them.
I'm waiting for the nice HC collection of all of them though. Might make a cool coffee table book.

One already came out, they didn't do anything interesting for it though, its just a standard hardcover
This whole thing was fucking cringy.

marvel must be killed. who is with me?
>>88735711
Every time Marvel shows up in the news these days it's cringeworthy as hell.

I don't have to agree to shit.
Nothing will ever make me give a crap about variant covers.

>Marvel Hip Hop Covers HC Vol. 1 Marvel 10,041
>Art of DC Comics Bombshells HC DC 2,110
>Bombshells were 5x better than the hip hop covers
>Hip hop covers sell 5x more
