So from the one stage we've seen it seems the worlds are fusing into one. Obviously they're going to be separated at the end. But I'd like to see a What If about how after the crisis/villains are dealt with the worlds stay fused and now everyone just has to figure out how shit works now.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Why would Capcom pass up DLC opportunities, and how they said it was a "reboot" leads me to believe they want to make a legitimate franchise out of this. I can't imagine what the licensing deal must look like, probably something saying they have rights to them in fighting game format, that would make sense considering the Spider-Man game coming out.

I meant in the story mode. All the colliding universe are suddenly pulled apart and put back exactly how they were at the end. But that won't stop Capcom from making DLC of new characters, stages, skins, and releasing season passes for it all. I'm pretty sure that's what they mean when they say they want to support it for a while.

They're hyping up the fact there's an actual story mode which is something I don't remember them ever doing for any of their fighting games, granted I don't follow fighting games that closely. Add into the way SFV was received at launch I doubt they'd put in an unfinished story mode that'd require you to buy DLC to finish it.

Wesker is way more popular and his current moveset would be easy to implement in a 2v2 if they tone down his OTG's. I'd imagine Capcom are going stay with the RE cast they already have unless they work in Ada Wong since they want to forget 6 ever happened (Leon Never Ever) though they might drop RE5 Jill. I could only really see them dropping Jill, Viper, Hsien-Ko and Firebrand.

Capcom quite making fighters altogether for most of the 2000s. They finally made a comeback with Street Fighter 4 in 2009, then MvC3 came not long after. And it seems they're still going to make more SF and Marvel, but they still have yet to revive any of the other fighting IPs they used to make back in the 90s.

I hope the story mode (if they actually deliver on that) has at least a little bit of depth and isn't like, say, MKvDC where most fights are justified by misunderstandings, nobody really talks to each other to clear anything up, and each universe's characters are arbitrarily on the same side, even if they hate each other.

As a side, I kinda want one of those modes in games like Soul Calibur 2 or Blazblue where you go through a map, do missions, and recruit defeated characters.

MK vs DC did it well at least because throughout the story instead of "Misunderstandings", both sides genuinely thought they were under invasion from a hostile alien race in the case of DC and from another realm in the case of MK. The DC universe thought it was an Apokalips invasion while the MK universe thought it was another realm while reality is literally tearing apart from the "Rage". So much that the heroes and Villains from each universe had to ally. Even sworn lifelong enemies like Batman and Joker on the DC side or Scorpion and Sub-Zero on the MK side had to fight for the fate of their planet. There was no time to talk. Only time to fight.

Sure, it was frustrating, but what do you expect from Raiden, the god of blunder? Or that even Batman was stumped and Lex Fucking Luthor had to step up and save humanity before the Justice League imbecies got the planet destroyed.

Also that cutscene near the end where they charge each other consumed by the "Rage" was cool as fuck at the time. Worth it

I actually liked MK9 story more than MKX, MKX had better tie in comics than its own story mode and it was a mistake to focus on the new kids. But yeah, it makes sense as to why they would fight, but the thing is that the Rage is just a stupid plot device used to facilitate fights that probably wouldn't have happened otherwise and to stave off any potential resolution before it's suppose to happen at the fight with Dark Kahn. There were plenty of chances for most of the characters to talk even just a little bit and come to an understanding that neither universe is hostile to the other before they came to the conclusion that the other universe is a threat to them. I don't really mind that previously opposing characters rally under the flag of their universe, but don't fucking put them together like they're suppose to act as a team. Like when they put Sonya and Kano on the same team, that'd be like putting Batman and Joker on the same team, it's just asking for trouble.

I'll agree it was rough because no one had attempted that sort of Story Mode in a fighting game before but it was a more interesting solution than suddenly contriving a corny reason for Batman and Sub-Zero to team up and do a standard "Good guys vs bad guys" story and they even addressed during the DC side story that if it means saving the planet, Batman would team with The Joker.

NRS and Jon Vogel admitted that was their fault in not pointing out the major lore change and Raiden's biggest fuck up in that in the original MK3, Shao Kahn gives Shang Tsung one final chance to lead his armies, ressurect Sindel and construct the soulnado.

In MK9, Shao Kahn has Quan Chi construct the Soulnado and Resurect Sindel, and kills Shang Tsung for failing the original earthrealm attack as his general after Motaro is killed. Kahn transfers all his power to Sindel who becomes a walking magic nuke and is sent on an intentional suicide mission by Kahn to erradicate the earthrealm resistance.

If you knew the MK lore. You wouldn't be pissed outside if they could have explained it better like Raiden realizing how much he fucked up with the amulet flashbacks. But for everyone else who wasn't familiar it was a fucking retarded way to kill off a lot of characters at once.

I guess that's why NRS is hiring Shawn Kittlesen now. Because he'll probably make a lot more sense than Jon Vogel ever did in both MK and Injustice.

Almost Every EMH, Spectacular Spider-Man and Wolverine and the X-Men voice made it even if they were using a different cadence in the show like MODOK. And the characters that weren't in EMH or an animated show yet had the casting suggested by Marvel. The only difference was that Doctor Doom and Super Skrull were recast in the show itself as they were using the FF Cartoon's actors.

I have the feeling Marvel might use some of the same VA's as EMH because their current series has a lot of actors from the Capcom side which would be awkward.

The problem is that current animated Cap is Roger Craig Smith, who's playing a much younger cap in Avengers Assemble and sounds a lot like Chris Redfield. That's where the awkwardness comes in. Steve Blum also gave Logan/Tasky very different voices so it wasn't awkward there but a lot of the reasons you have to have different voice actors or at least distinct voices is also fighting game sound design these days is because the game relies a lot on sound cues.

That's why it's awkward, but hell I'm glad they brought back some of the EMH actors too.

It's more of a familiarity and fighting game design thing. I was reading some stuff about how Killer Instinct did their sound design and because they were low budget, they had to have one actor over three roles. Same actor who voices Kan-Ra plays Gargos and Eyedol and they had to do a lot of work to make them all sound distinct from each other to the point they re-recorded some of Kan-Ra's in game voice clips to sound different. They changed Kan-Ra to be more a smug horror villian and less "Shouty" so to not confuse the player versus Gargos' deeper and more threatening voice because they sounded a bit too similar, despite trying to be distinct at the original release of Gargos that a match up between the two could become confusing.

I'd also imagine Capcom might have requested the EMH actors because they are familiar to players from MvC3 and changing them could potentially be confusing when they want players to be familiar with it.

I know a lot of players said that it was weird hearing a different Wolverine voice in MvC3 versus the one they had heard for a decade in the games before that that it took time to get used to. It's an interesting problem to have.

Demitri shouldn't be that hard to model outside maybe switching to his demon form, and possibly his Demon Blast super, but even that should be that difficult, since guys like Dante and Vergil had two models. Jedah's also not the weirdest thing out there, he just has issues with self mutilation, but he does shape shift quite a bit, so maybe its him.

Personally I think Pyron makes sense, since he's a kind of a cosmic type villain, and Carol's supposed to be important to the story, so he would fit in well as an antagonist for her. Maybe Lord Raptor if they need someone as more of a flunkie villain.

Outside of those three, I'd say Anakaris, Rikuo, Huitzil and Victor would be the hardest to make in 3D.

Pyron's always kind of sucked in the super department, so it would be interesting to see them try and fix that up in MvCI. Cosmo Disruption might be more useful in a game where you have superpauses to cover your startup animations, as opposed to Darkstalkers where time never stops. Piled Hell just sucks though, I'd be fine with them completely nixing it and replacing it with something new. They might do something with Shining Gemini, since they gave Morrigan, Felicia and Hsien-Ko Astral Vision, Kitty the Helper, and Rimoukon respectively.

They also didn't have the creator of the original sprite to tell them how things are supposed to look. Kitamura came up with the idea of the red circles on Mega Man's helmet. They were originally going to have symbols of the weapon you had equipped instead of changing colors. They couldn't get that to work but kept the idea anyway. There was no way Inafune could have interpreted that from the sprite as they aren't there.

It's a pretty basic fighting Earthling fighting pose. Since Pyron limits himself to fighting by the rules of his host planet (at full power, he'd just vaporize planets in a matter of minutes, which isn't very fun), it's natural that he'd take on a typical fighting pose characteristic of bipedal Earth creatures.
