I know most people on /co/ hate Marvel, but they must have produced something passable at some point, right? If you had to recommend one Marvel arc/trade, what would it be?

Waid and Hickman's FF.
Simonson's Thor.
New X-Men by Morrison.
Mostly anything by Ditko and Shooter.
Marvel has produced plenty of good comics, what manner of bait is this?
>The Life and Death of Captain Marvel
>I know most people on /co/ hate Marvel
I'd say that most people that say they hate Marvel mean they hate the way Marvel is right now, rather than the idea of the company as a whole.
I'm firmly a DCfag and I freely admit there's a lot of good shit from Marvel.
Grab anything with Kirby's name on it.
I'm also partial to all the What If stories.
MOTHERFUCKING EARTH-X

Rise of the Midnight Sons
>>88719178
mugga earth x is only good if you like marvel in the first place
if you hand it to somebody who doesn't give a shit they'll just be like "wtf is up with all this awkward exposition"

I read it after reading Marvels.
I feel like it's Krueger looking at Marvel Comics then and there, and basically saying "I see the problems this universe has, and I'm gonna fix them all".
It wasn't three fucking years ago that Marvel was pretty decent and much better than DC.
Moon Knight, Thor: God of Thunder, Superior Spidey and especially Superior Foes, the only non-shit event in years, Secret Wars, Indestructible Hulk, New Avengers, Based as fuck Marvel Now Captain America (when he goes to dimension Z), FF, waidDaredevil. Not all incredible, but all good, and some great.
Point being, they cared more about making good comics than political statements just a few years ago. How that changed so quick is beyond me, but it's affected the quality a lot. Almost all of Marvel is unreadable.
If I had to recommend one trade, ever, it'd be Planet Hulk. Shit's tight. I don't think it's the greatest marvel comic ever told, but it's so good and probably a good recommendation for anyone without a foot up their ass.

Everyone likes Spiderman Blue, at least.

DC had good New 52, prior to Forever Evil we had some good runs, like WW, Aquaman, GL was about to end, Snyder's Batman was during Zero Year, we had Infinity Man and the Forever People, it was an okay time.
Trinity of Sin was garbage though.
Hickman's F4/FF run
Spider-Man: The Gauntlet and Grim Hunt
Spider-Man Blue
Journey Into Mystery by Gillen
>>88719440
DC wasn't bad. Aquaman was good, GL was decent, Animal Man and Swamp Thing were fantastic, Green Arrow was pretty good, but for the little portion of time I'm pointing to, I think marvel was better. I used hyperbole because of temporary ignorance. They weren't much better, but I think they were better. It was a good time to be reading comics, though, for all , between DC, Marvel, Image, the rebirth of Valiant, and other decent independent comics coming out at the time.
>>88719417
Literally the only time I've actually liked Gwen.
>>88719525
Yeah, Marvel was, if you looked in the right direction, fantastic, rest suffered a lot from movie exposure like Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man, but goddamn did that Avengers/New Avengers was worth it.
Is Hickman's writing style considered prose?
I really liked My War Gone By written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Goran Parlov. But anything done by Garth Ennis and Goran Parlov is good especially when they work on the Punisher together.

Just stick to shilling Hitman, Garth.
