are there any decent cartoon based youtube channels?
I'm looking, but everything seems to be pretty shit
Piemations
Youtube thread?
A lot of animators have spoken out over the past couple years about why Youtube became a shit medium for animation. But there's still some good ones out there.

Could you elaborate on this? I'm interested and haven't heard it before.

Youtube animators can't put out the amount of content that video game channels can
>>88698358
Youtube has change algorithms. It's no longer about how many views your video gets, it's about how long they are and how long people watch said video.
Animators can't make long, high quality videos at the same rate let's players can upload videos daily/weekly.
>>88698408
How does this help youtube itself make money?
The whole change seems very pointless
>>88698408
that's where patreon comes in the picture
unfortunately some are skeptical about it as it has made some artists lazier
>>88698323
Here's one that explains it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi6FcI2wFrw
tl;dr
Animators used to make Youtube buxx from views, but the algorithm changed to overwhelmingly favor long-form, low-effort content like let's plays and makeup tutorials. Cartoons = lot's of work for short videos, so animators suddenly couldn't support themselves anymore.
Probably why so many stopped animating and became shitty let's players/e-celebs themselves, since they had no other skills or connections to fall back on.
Posting more folks that are still in the game:

>Probably why so many stopped animating and became shitty let's players/e-celebs themselves
this is probably the worst thing about it
Youtube is now a million times shittier now that people don't want to animate anymore. It'd be cool if Youtube would fund cartoons or something like they do in Canada

All that screaming about leaving for vimeo, dailymotion for the most part is just a quick hissy fit before youtubers calm down and go back to being YouTubes little lapdog
Also Vidme is still pretty new, i don't think half the userbase of YouTube know about Vidme
Not sure if these guys count as "YouTube" animators so much as contractors that post their stuff sometimes. But I guess that's the reality of how things work now.

Sexualobster is fucking great.
>>88699197
>Did he just give up?
probably saw that he could just meme for the kids and do just fine
again, the problem with youtube now is that just watching people playing fucking video games or talk over shit seems to be killing everyone's creativity

Ads.

A video under ten minutes has a limitation of one ad in it. A video above ten minutes can have as many ads as they want interspersed in the video.
Content creators not only need high view counts that don't use ad-block, they are now encouraged to produce consistent and lengthy videos. YouTube overtly favours quantity over quality.
