Slowpoking a bit here but I finally saw Rogue one and I really have to say. The sound effects fucking sucked what the hell. The shit they played in theaters wasn't Starwars at all. Thats one thing TFA got right to an extreme was the unbelievably iconic sound effects the franchise is known for. In RO they had a few leftover sounds from previous movies made ultra quiet so you could hear the somewhat lackluster soundtrack. The Xwings didn't even sound like Xwings, what the hell, for a movie that went so above and beyond to make referencey fanservice they completely blew it in the sound department. I had to ask some friends if it was my local theater's fault or the movie and they agreed it was the movie.

I'm so upset I paid for that bullshit, there is no reason at all to see a movie in theater with modern TVs having even better video quality. So the only reason I saw it was to feel the sound like how I felt it in the previous movies. People love to post links of their favorite sound effects from all of the movies, but I bet nobody will post anything from this one. I mean for gods sake the Rebels TV show has better sound design than this movie.
>>
>>88650604

>>88650604
Triple-Zero is so far my least favorite canon character. Aside from him, the Darth Vader comic is great and Aphra is fantastic from the two issues out so far. 0-0-0 even had a decent moment in the first issue.

I think I would tolerate 0-0-0 a little more if he didn't just look like an edgy C-3PO. If he had a unique design I'd like him a tiny bit more.
>>
>>88650699
It was in Star Wars Galaxies I think. It was fucking awful
>>
>>88650628
>hes hk-47
he's more hk-50 though. 47 was all about finesse, he strived to accomplish more with less. 50 were all about wanton slaughter, about result rathere than process. Also, 47 was an assassin, not a torturer. And he was funnier.
>>
>>88650740
A unique design would help, but he needs more to him than just the same tired joke over and over. He doesn't even really count as a subversion of C-3PO. AP-5 in Rebels and K-2SO in Rogue One do a better job of being alternate takes on Threepio. Triple Zero has no personality beyond enjoying killing.
>>
>>88650740
I think the only reason they gave him C-3PO's design was so that can use stills from the movies as reference/tracing material for drawing 0-0-0.
Modern comic artists are hacks and just trace everything over photos or 3D models, because when they don't it looks shit.

>>88650872
I feel like they're using him just enough. Really the test will be how the endgame plays out, but I think a lot of people are expecting him to somehow destroy the entire rebel fleet and also kill the entire main cast and will consider him a jobber and a complete mockery of his original self if he doesn't, even though he actually didn't accomplish much in the Thrawn trilogy to begin with and kept pulling the "let them have their victory, this is all part of a greater plan" thing there, too.

>so has the planet's volcanic activity subsided in the last 18 years? Is that possible?

I don't know if official sources have said anything, so I'm just going to shoot a theory.

1, mayhaps the most concentrated of Volcanic activity shifts over time. Kina like a storm, but on a geological/tectonic level.

2, maybe it's more a planetary, astrological influence. Maybe Mustafar was, when saw it in Rogue One, in it's winter cycle as opposed to when in RoTS, we saw it in it's version of summer.

Though I'm neither an expert on either geology or gravitational influence on an atmospheric degree.

>>
>>88651641
Probably depends on when it's set. He's too old for Boba pre-ANH, though just right for Boba closer to the sequel era. They may just get him to do the voice.

Either way I'm not sure why that article decided to post that old list of candidates as if it was still a thing, it was debunked ages ago.

Ya'll niggas gay. He's not even repetitive each scene he's in is approached differently. Like playing holochess and getting spiteful at losing and trying to shock him by shaking his hand. Using mindgames and sarcasm to freak out the enemy soldiers because Vader wouldn't let him put blood drainers in the droids.

They've been creative with him. You guys are just conditioned to be counterculture and hate anything with the color scheme red/black that likes to kill.

>>

That's what I'd do. Get someone to play the body, have him masked for most of the movie, with Tem doing the voice. Only have one or two brief scenes of him unmasked and just do a digital mask to make him an age-appropriate version of Tem.
>>
>>88651165
I'd love for Death Troopers to be the canon version of Phase Zero Dark Troopers, which they already have tons of similarities according to the visual guide
>>

>>88651726
>Like playing holochess and getting spiteful at losing and trying to shock him by shaking his hand. Using mindgames and sarcasm to freak out the enemy soldiers because Vader wouldn't let him put blood drainers in the droids.
Both are still just variations of "tee hee I like torture." It also doesn't change the fact that the character stopped being funny very quickly.

Daniel Logan has surprisingly kept his resemblance to Morrison, which rarely happens with child actors playing young versions of adult actors. They could use Logan, but the only problem would be his voice- he's like 30 and definitely looks 30 but he still sounds like he's 15.
>>
How do you introduce Sheev into rebels /swco/?
>>
>>88651923
You don't. Not unless you want to make him a jobber
>>
I wonder if they'll do anything with Vader's castle in the sequels. Sounds like the kind of place Kylo Ren would mess in his big boy pants if he could buy it on the market. Assuming, of course, it wasn't destroyed.

Mustafar is pretty remote and I imagine the Empire dealt with the local miners.
>>
>>88651923
Have Vader/Tarkin/Thrawn reporting to him in person. He really shouldn't get too directly involved in the action, just have him on his throne giving commands.

Also "le u guise hate everything XD" is not an excuse for your crappy HK-47 wannabe

I wouldn't be surprised if only for the fact that it's a huge fucking waste to introduce it in Rogue One and then never use it again because Vader is dead.

Eeehhh. I wouldn't say he looks like him much. Decent looking chap, no doubt. But I don't really think he looks like Morrison.

Though, he may not necessarily have to. Different lifestyles, different experiences. With a little makeup for scar tissue and whatnot, they could totally play the Picard and Shinzon card. With Boba's incompetency for his job and blind people, I figure he's probably busted his face a lot more than Jango did.
>>
She needs to make an appearance in Rebels.
>>
>>88652035
It wouldn't be unprecedented to have Boba not look 100% identical to Jango even though he's meant to. The "younger" clones were played by Bodie Taylor, who looks even less like Morrison than Logan does.

>Did you ever hear the tragedy of Saint Nicholas the Kind?

No.

>I thought not. It's not a story the Humbugs would tell you. It's a Christmas legend. Saint Nicholas was a Kind Soul of Christmas so cheerful and so kind he could use Christmas Spirit to influence the presents to create... happiness. He had such a knowledge of the Nice Side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from the naughty list.

He could actually... save people from the naughty list?

>The Nice Side of Christmas Spirit is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be too joyful.

What happened to him?

>He became so cheerful, the only thing he was afraid of was... losing his cheerfulness, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his elves everything he knew... then his elves naughtified him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from the naughty list... but not himself.

Is it possible to learn this cheerfulness?

>Not from a Humbug.

I recognize that it has a lot of flaws but Phantom just instills me with this childlike glee. Partly, I'm sure, because it was the first I had ever seen in theaters but even objectively it just feels the most like "Star Wars" to me of the PT. Which I know is weird because everyone hates it because politics and shit. But TPM feels like an adventure to me. Everything on Tatooine is pointless but it's so interesting to watch I love just paying attention to the backgrounds and seeing everything that's going on. When it comes to world building I think Phantom is one of the most successful. Naboo and Tatooine are just such great Star Wars locales. Love Qui-Gon as a greyish Jedi too. He felt more like what I expected the Jedi to be as a kid. Not these strict political tards on Coruscant. Plus it has a great ground battle, great air battle and great saber fight (Duel of Fates is in a three way tie with Han Solo & the Princess and Binary Sunset).

Basically I just find it more enjoyable. I can rewatch Phantom any time. I really need to be in the mood for 2/3.

To be honest, I would like to see a Fett movie thinking about Bounty Hunter. We could see the gritty underworld of SW on the big screen. Like Rogue One, we could get an edgy Star Wars movie that breaks rules in a PG-13.

I wouldn't mind seeing Boba walk into a bar, break some arms and toss some credit chips to a stripper before walking out. After R1, I want to see what else they could do. And it gives us a chance to see SW without Stormtroopers, Rebels and all that jazz.

>With Sabine having departed the crew to assume responsibilities as Mandalore, and the death of Zeb in the jungles of Drumund Kass as well as the disappearance of Ezra and Kanan after the formers betrayal of the Ghost Crew , Hera now spends often extended amounts of time alone. While there has been motions to have her dismissed from the Rebellion at large, her early contributions to the rebellion are simply to great to dismiss.

So Aphra is like, the new canon's Mara Jade?
I don't mean as a character - I wouldn't dare to compare the two - I mean that Aphra seems to be the new EU's most popular character: looking at her Wook page, she appears in practically every Darth Vader comic, and the first OC to get her own series. Whereas Mara was (arguably) the old EU's most popular character (other than Kyle, Thrawn and Revan, but she's the only girl in this list)

People are sick of Boba Fett. He was a nothing character in the OT that was only liked by people's pre-conceived notions that he "stood up to Vader" even though Vader immediately told him to basically shut the fuck up. Only liked for his 'cool' armor, which is a mess of brown, green, and yellow, which Jango and the Clones do significantly better and who is ultimately killed by a blind Han Solo spinning around wildly.

Then the EU decided to turn him into some magical speshul snowflaek Jedi killing badass the Galaxy over who controlled an entire warrior tribe who could do no wrong, and he survived a Sarlacc Pit.

Boba Fett has always been liked for either being completely useless and pointless or because he's a speshul snowflaek gary stu.

More like neckbeards are sick of Boba Fett. His merchandise still sells a ton and he's generally extremely popular with casuals and normies, i.e. most people.
>>
>>88653110
No, a lot of people are sick of him. That isn't just "haha neckbeards". Yes, Boba Fett is popular, for exactly the reasons I said, otherwise the entire fanbase is split on him 40/60 or so. With the fans being very vocal of their love of him.

The Mandofags are by far the most 'neckbeard' out of everyone though. They throw autistic fits about everything or any mention that Boba isn't a Mandolorian while someone like Sabine is, and are likely going to throw a bigger fit when she ends up Mandalore.

Boba Fett has never once deserved the fanbase that he does based on what he has done or how he has looked compared to Jango or the Clones. Jango does more in his piddly 20 minutes of total screentime than Boba does the entire OT and still has a better armor colors scheme by leaps and bounds.

The only reason a Boba Fett movie would ever happen is for merchandise, that's it. Not because most people want it or it'd be a good story, but because of merchandise. That's it.

Sheev Palpitine (Danny Devito) is a galactic chancellor leading an idyllic, peaceful life on Courcucant

Sheev also happens to be the star of the most popular live show in holovision history. The only problem is, he doesn't know it! In fact, the entire planet of Courcucant is a complete fabrication; a massive set surrounded by a protective dome that produces the most sophisticated effects and imagery to mimic the sky, weather, and temperature of the real world. Set just off of what appears to be the core systens, the dome is run by a massive staff hidden just beyond its barriers and managed by the artistically eccentric Director, Jar Jar Binks (Ed Harris). Jar Jar has filmed Sheev since just before his birth and sees the project as a ray of hope; a way to truthfully portray a person's life nonstop while maintaining their innocence.

Not really. Yeah money is involved and merchandise honestly, but everything else actually expands on the story of characters that the series has largely revolved around.

Boba wouldn't expand on almost anything beyond Han or Vader. Vader which we have plenty of and would just undermine Boba the entire movie, and Han we're already getting a movie about anyways. A Boba movie would just be absolute needless pandering for the sake of it and not for the sake of actually trying to expand the universe and franchise.

He's usually one of the reliable high-sellers, though I think he's taken a backseat lately in favor of TFA stuff and Kylo in particular. No idea if Boba merch is still as hot as it was before but I can't imagine him suddenly doing poorly.

Then again, merchandise and popularity sometimes have a weird relationship. Han for example is consistently a popular and well-liked character but his merchandise tends not to do so well.

Once you get past the current hype machine for TFA and Rogue One, there's still a pretty sizeable amount of merchandise for Boba. It all depends on where you look.

>I think it's great that Marvel is moving outside of the main cast, but why Aphra?
Yeah, this is how I feel. I love the idea of a comic-originating character getting big and having their own series, but I think it's way too early for Aphra. She IS the best candidate for it, but that's not saying much since very few of the comics-exclusive characters have had a chance to really stand out. They're trying to do this too fast.
>>

The comics industry regularly fucks over their readers. And at this point Disney only keeps them alive out of tradition. It's not like they make money.

She's just not interesting at all. She BORDERS on mary sue level in that she's just so smart she even out-manipulates Vader and he gives her special treatment and she manages to control these two murder droids when nobody else has been able to for thousands of years. Every appearance in Vader was her snarking and being five steps ahead of everyone she dealt with.

She literally the Batman of Star Wars when it comes to prep time. She knew EXACTLY how Vader would try to kill her to set herself up to survive it.

This. Even a character like Ahsoka, who's the biggest character to come out of the animated canon, it took her a while to really catch on. There was merchandise for her sure, but the fandom took years to really warm up to her on the whole, enough for people to actively want Ahsoka stories as opposed to just being willing to sit through an Ahsoka episode here and there.

I just still don't know what her purpose is to Vader's story.

I read all 25 issues, and I still can't wrap my head around why she exists. I think she'd be much better as a solo character (we'll see) than as a companion to Vader, because their relationship was stupid as hell. I liked the parts where she was off running around on her own though.

But BT and 000 can fuck right out of here now.

It's too early for anyone to have an opinion so the mini-series will go away and she'll be forgotten immediately. They definitely played their hand way too early. She feels so incidental to Star Wars as a whole right now. They'd have better luck bringing back Cad Bane or somebody for their own comic. Aphra just doesn't have an interesting gimmick at all that would allow her to succeed this early. She's just normal human girl.
>>

>BT and 000 can fuck right out of here now.
They're really not that bad. We've had far more obnoxious and irritating characters in the past 40 years.
>>
>>88653946
They can probably make the series work by focusing on the lore/exploration parts of her job, but even than that does nothing to improve her character or make her stand out. Even her personality has no hook to it- she's just a snarky girl in a medium full of snarky girls.

Her dad's only had one issue to really do much and already his somewhat autistic, enthusiastic approach to history is more endearing than his daughter.
>>
>>88653866
>She knew EXACTLY how Vader would try to kill her to set herself up to survive it.
To be fair, her reasoning is right. If she hadn't been made as a threat like she had in being captured she probably would have gotten the saber. But since she made him go through hoops to get her back theres no reason to expect mercy.

Im more curious as to how much is publicly known of Vader, if she knows so much about him.
>>
>>88653918

I like BT and 000 actually. They bring some levity to things and it's fun to see Vader deal with their lightheartedness in his stoic way. The entire exchange where Triple 0 wants to modify droids was gold.

It's Aphra that needs to go. She just feels out of place. I can't help but feel Vader wouldn't let someone jerk him around and fail that many times even if they were useful. It feels like "Oh this is my self-insert Aphra she's really smart and badass and she's so cool that Vader even likes her and works with her.

I think it's her casual demeanor. To their credit I don't think its hurt Vader's presence but it just feels wrong for some bratty girl to be cracking wise around and to Vader like she's not respecting him and intimidated.
>>
>>88654033
The part about her faking him out and using a reverse-psychology "please don't throw me in the briar patch!" trick on him is probably the least objectionable part of it. What really makes it stupid is that she was able to plan her survival so perfectly.
>>
>>88654033

My issue is Vader isn't the type to inflict suffering without reason. He's business as usual. Choking and the saber are his go to. Aphra wouldn't be worth the extra effort of finding a unique way to kill her. He shouldn't be thinking that hard. It should just be "You've outlived your usefulness *sizzle*"
>>
>>88654080
Because she betrayed him to save her ass. People forget he was orginally going to choke/saber her but she held out on info on Luke to get out of it.

She's a classic psychopath. She studied Vader very well psychologically.
>>
>>88654015
>we've had worse
That's not really a high bar. I don't mind them as characters, but they were stupid as hell with Vader.
>>
>>88654042
At this point she is a mix of Indiana Jones and Han Solo. She seems like she really enjoys being an archeologist. But she really does it for money. I guess you can say her defensive mechanism for being scared is quips, which is a common thing for the scallywag character.
>>
>>88654122
You didn't read my post. The part about tricking him isn't the problem- the part where she perfectly plans her survival out the airlock right down to the time, place and even distance is that stupid part.
>>
>>88654140

See I can accept that I just feel like Vader would have slapped her around a bit more by now and commanded some respect. Vader's biggest tool is the fear he instills. He would 100% not be okay with some girl holding leverage over him AND acting like she's on equal footing. He would immediately use a show of force to put her in her place.

Vader is very much about wrath. He goes to Tatooine to murder sand people because his mother died because of some of them. Aphra kept information from him, forced him to expend resources to get her back, distracted him from his work, and attempted to betray him to his master. Theres little reason to think he would not deal with het in a way that she has said she is fearful of.
>>
>>88653103
It seems they want a female Han Solo without any restrictions of being related to the movie cast except Vader. Although outside of being Vader's sidekick she doesn't have much going for her and I won't be surprised if her comic sells like crap and gets cancelled 10 issues in.

You're both right. Star Wars hasn't been very big in China because it just hasn't been officially shown there. They were exposed to the PTs first.

They do enjoy the PTs but at the same time they don't have Star Wars as anywhere near the pop culture phenomenon because their exposure to it has been much lower. Then TFA wasn't even released when the rest of the world got it (as I recall they were already maxed out on foreign films since they only allow so many in their market per year) and now Rogue One is opening next year for them but not too delayed. Very early January.

Anyone else feel like RO started out as a book series and got rushed into being a film instead? It honestly feels like they tried to cram in too much and the pacing is all over the place. Backstory is not what we needed imo, contrary to what so many "critics" will try and have you believe. Rogue One did very well with show don't tell or at least tell only what you need to.

You don't need Cassian's life story because you can make it up yourself knowing that he's been a rebel since he was 6 years old and has demons.

You don't need the life story of Baze and Chirrut. You can make up the rest knowing Baze is a disillusioned guardian who used to believe and Chirrut is the last remnant of a group who worshipped the force.

And so on and so forth.

I find it strange because nobody ever criticizes ensemble movies like the Italian Job and the Oceans series despite the fact that those movies are just character archetypes doing a job.

There's this strange idea that Star Wars has to be high art and not just dumb fun on the same level of Oceans 11 and the like.

Fundamentally we knew the crew had to die and that this movie wasn't about the characters but the mission. Now if we're talking TFA then lack of character is a valid criticism because the main series IS the character driven movies.
>>
>>88655753
It was more than a suicide mission, there was that meeting with an informant, the pilot being captured by the radical rebels, the story behind all of them as well, Rey being in that labor camp, etc. The movie touches on 10 different things so very briefly and makes it look like something much more than it ends up being. It feels like the first 45 minutes of the movie shouldn't even be there

agreed.

look at the OT, even. you get almost zero backstory for han and chewie, other than they're on the run from Jabba. you get very little backstory for Leia, besides she's a princess (of what?) and a rebel asset.

The problem isn't a lack of backstory for these characters. The problem is they were written and acted well enough that the audience got ATTACHED, and now they're gone. Which means that the movie achieved exactly what it was supposed to.

I agree with you. What I enjoyed most about R1 characters too was they didn't need too much explaining. Just small comments summed their entire characters up. See the scene where Cassian, Baze and Chirrut talk about spirituality, faith and loss all in a span of a few minutes. You got Cassian was guilt ridden and and Baze has a major crisis of faith and no matter what Chirrut still is a believer. We didn't need a long winded backstory, we got something simple and significant.

Lucas had been planning that backstory for ages. There are even bits of it from ANH, with Obi-Wan having thrown Vader into a volcano. More often than not, its best to let the audience fill in the blanks. That way they cannot be disappointed in it.

Case in point, the prequels. People didnt like them because for twenty years people thought up their own stories for these characters and events that they'd heard of. There was no way what Lucas thought up was going to measure up to it.
>>
>>88657341

>>
>>88657373
It really doesnt matter if you dont like them, really that only helps prove the point of it. Given enough time, giving backstory for characters and events becomes a bad idea.

Especially in movies you need to identify whats important, and get it out there and have it known for a reason.

In regards to the OT, the prequels are pointless. Knowing anything in it doesnt give any new or pertinent information for Lukes story. All the importa t stuff, everything that we need to know to know him and anyone else as characters is already there.

In much the same way that anything in say KOTOR is meaningless for the Prequels. The Star Wars movies were not a six movie long saga. They were two trilogies in the same setting.

I can certainly understand why they don't sit well with certain people. I have nothing against microscopic symbiotic organisms that are inspired to mitochondria, but at the same time, yeah, it might have been best if they left it vague and the Force didn't require a "middle man" operator.

I never understood why they were that big of a deal. People say they ruined the force because your power was limited by your midichlorians.

But the way I saw it is the other way around. The more the force flows through you the higher the concentration of midichlorians.

I don't think any piece of canon has said that midichlorian count is fixed. For example I would think Maul and Vader's midichlorian counts are much lower than when they were at full potential.

ESB > ANH > TFA = RO > ROTJ > TPM = ROTS > AOTC

ESB - Pure kino

ANH - Well told Arthurian fantasy story with tight pacing, a cool space-junky atmospere, and enjoyable characters despite their occasional amateur actor flukes.

TFA/RO - Two movies whose flaws are the others' best elements and vice versa. A combination of the best elements in both films would make the best modern Star Wars film. Both films need to fix the pacing at the beginning though.

ROTJ - A lot of weird ideas thrown in throughout the first hour followed by a really compelling final act. Han and Leia really get the bad writing stick while Luke and Vader get the best development.

TPM/ROTS - Two distinct genre films with a lot of potential to be good films given some rewrites, reworked cinematography during non-action scenes, and better actor direction. Good production values and aesthetic choices, but dragged down way too down by a world with characters that feels too sterile to be relatable.

AOTC - An irredeemable mess literally written weeks into production -- too late to make a worthwhile script. Shamelessly a giant toy commercial that treats its audience like complete idiots.
>>
>>88658716

People complaining about that were fucking retarded. Force sensitivity was always slightly hereditary at least - Yoda and Obi-Wan's entire fucking plan hinged on training Anakin's goddamn kids for a reason.

The worst part of the prequels is politics and some of the acting, but even at their worst, they're far better than most of the movies out there. They just have the unfortunate position of being not quite as good as the three originals.
>>
>>88658716
Because people legit think midichlorians work like DBZ power levels, despite experiencing mattering way way way more outside of Sidious.

AotC may have been a toy commercial, but it was unironically the absolute peak of Star Wars toys. My god the vehicles and figures from it were so good. Metal Lightsaber handles and magnetized hands on 3.5 inch figures ffs. Dat fucking LAAT gunship and Geonosis arena playset. All the different droid tanks and ships. All the different Jedi. All the Clone troopers. All the monsters. So good.

Everything below ANH asserts the audience is commercially gullible to different extents. AOTC is the only one that goes full retard while still being boring as fuck all the way through. Despite being uninspired in all areas except a few characters, TFA has the decency to entertain you while selling you shit. AOTC is like watching a bad novela and a shitty detective movie spliced with army-men commercials starring clones and robots.

We discussed this last thread. Vader regularly comes to Tatooine to kill Tuskens, so they must appease the dreaded Black Rancor with a sacrifice, especially if those he tries to slaughter survives.

Meanwhile they have a different opposite sect that had worshiped Obi-Wan, the Blue Hobo Dragon, the Devil to their God. Who left the great Black Rancor to die on the sands of a Sarlacc in the Holy Jundland Wastes.

So anyway, I know I'm hella late, but what do you guys think about the current marvel star wars comics? I like them, I feel like they really do represent star wars and have the same feel as the original movies. My only regret is knowing all Vader does is for naught. I wish he won.
>>
>>88659574
I like them, but I really wish they weren't so spread out at times.

A good example: Vader crossing into Star Wars (but only for like Pt. 3-5 or some shit) or having like an entire segment of that Princess/Lava world shit or w/e not be in the actual comic itself without going out of the way to get the rest, so when you get to the 'Civil War' bit, it feels so out of left-field.

My only real complaint.

Certainly not what he's on record as saying:

>I have a feeling I’m going to show up. There’s nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage. People think of me as the original cast, but I didn’t come in until the second movie. I did Empire and then I did Return of the Jedi, but I came in after everyone else was introduced...So I think they’re probably proceeding in that way. I can’t imagine them not bringing Lando back.

Yes, yes, read Lost Stars, then Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple when you're done with TCW if you're interested in seeing the fates of some of the characters. Son of Dathomir is comic and Dark Disciple is a novel. Both of them are based on arcs that would've been made had TCW not been cancelled.

More important question: what's Vader's bathroom situation like?

I imagine it's all catheters and bags and shit considering the suit is all life support. I bet he has a droid to replace his peebags.
>>
>>88661233
You know that Bacta tank in his castle? Sheev set that up for one purpose: it's basically Vader's fishtank. He not only voids his bowels directly into the goop those Red Guard are employed to occasionally climb up on a ladder and sprinkle in food flakes.

You have no idea how often he gets the food confused with the, er, other stuff.

>"I can't remember the last time I was in a refresher."
>"[Rey points to a set of doors] Fully functional."
>"You serious?"
>"No water, but the sonics work."

>A refresher, also known as a bathroom, was a room designed for personal hygiene. They could be found in numerous locations, such as Imperial academies or starships such as the 690 light freighter. Some restrooms contained sonics, which could be used in the absence of water. Certain refresher units were capable of turning the wastes into compost.

>>
>>88661350
Yep. Even with the suit he should still be pretty much dead, like the suit can only really keep him alive for so long without damaging some of his organs.

Even then take the Ahsoka fight where he's wheezing and barely moving. With his mask destroyed oxygen is just filtering out constantly, so he probably had to use the dark side while limping around due to his knee joint getting fucked up having to breath on his own, which is pretty much impossible for him. Dude basically has to constantly use the Dark Side to survive even in Bacta Tanks and his meditation chamber honestly.
>>
>>88661422
We all know that isn't true. For a guy who claims the name Anakin Skywalker has no meaning for him he is something of a sentimental douche. See: >>88651378

Alternately I can imagine Sheev bought it for him, an anniversary present for the day he became Vader and murdered all those kids. I can only imagine Vader starring, maybe the sounds of quiet sobbing heard from his voice box, before Sheev adds that he of course only got that model because Naboo happens to be his homeworld so naturally he gets a discount at the dealership. Yep, no other reason at all. Happy Life Day, Vader.

Let's see...
Luke has made out with his sister on numerous occasions. Still has lingering conflicting thoughts regarding what the dianoga did to him under the water. Was nicknamed "Wormie" on Tatooine which I can only imagine happened after the first time a girl saw his space snake and soon the whole planet was laughing at him. He has major daddy issues. He lost his fappin' hand in Cloud City. He's always tempted to try Forceturbation but good luck because he knows there are always ghosts watching him no matter what he does. And just when he finally makes his own Jedi Order his shitty nephew kills them all.

He's forever alone, forever a virgin, and he hasn't even been able to masturbate for fear he'll suddenly year Yoda's laughter when they see his "wormie". He hasn't even taken his robes off in thirty years.

>Even Sheev wasn't this evil.
Considering Sheev appears to have sensed Obi-Wan survived and was posing as Rako Hardeen and sent Anakin in to kill his own friend, mentor, and brother? Sheev has lots of time for dickery.

Hell, we're talking about a guy who for shits, giggles, and Unlimited Power engineered two mighty armies ripping apart the galaxy to justify the elevation of his own position in the Republic and the joy of future reprisals on the Separatists. His own Apprentice believes he'll somehow rule at his Master's side come the days of the Empire, somehow getting a pardon presumably when everything is blamed on the Jedi, but in actuality his own betrayal was planned well in advance and he was merely a placeholder.

It's possible that Sheev merely wanted Anakin to act out his revenge, a very unJedilike action, and something that would move him closer to becoming Vader, but there is just something about how he smiled when he engineered Anakin's quest for vengeance that suggests he knew Rako Hardeen was Obi-Wan. >>
>>88661871
He clearly knew, though it does raise a question. The Box was presented as a test of the bounty hunters to see who the best candidates were, but was really a way to root out which of them might be a Jedi infiltrator. If Sidious already knew it was Hardeen, why did they need to try to see which of them it was?
>>
>>88661934
There's some speculation floating around but I don't think we've gotten any solid details on what the original cut of the movie was like.

Jyn and Cassian managed to escape from Scarif with the schematics, the ATAT scene happens during their escape from the facility. Vader catches up to them in space and kills, but not before they beam the data to Leia's ship.

>>
>>88662261
From a Lucas and creative point of view, it's more pottery if he is his Jedi self.

From canon, Vader's body is corrupted by the dark side, even after Luke saved him. The last time he was "pure" was during the clone war, so that's what he is represented as in the Force. Obi-wan and Yoda were pure when they were old, so that is how they are represented.
>>
>>88661934
DESU, I think the final product is better than what the original would have been.
>>
>>88662342
Lets be real, Vader was always Anakin. That's the point of the Dark Side, you're still you, you're just so deluded into thinking that raging furnace or incurable greed are someone else.

Vader was always Anakin. The suit didn't make him Vader, he was Vader during Order 66 and Mustafar for instance. Vader is just a name given to the rage, nothing more. Even then Vader has tons of snarky banter and snide ass remarks and does crazy wild bullshit that should get him killed. He's Anakin through and through.
>>
>>88662376
I never said he wasn't, calm your autism.

Force Ghost Anakin is just Anakin's appearance before he fully indulged the darkside. He's still the same Anakin when he died, just not physically.
>>
>>88662376
I've actually heard it that Vader was straight a different person to Anakin, so different that they were different in the force.
>>
>>88662404
Oh, I was actually agreeing with you anon. Just helping you out really.

You could also use the argument that Anakin never looked in a mirror to actually see himself after Mustafar because he hated what he looked like, and RotS is what he last remembers.
>>
>>88657906
I do it half-ironically.
>>
>>88662413
In a lot of novels it tries to differentiate the two. Like a raging furnace, a dragon within that has taken over and to stifle all of what made Anakin, Anakin.

But really when you boil it down, he never really does get rid of it. Its just all masked by pure rage and the corrupted force due to the Dark Side. Its part of the pottery of "There is still Anakin in there, still good in him."

Its like when you see some black out from sheer anger, Vader is essentially that. He's still Anakin, but there is just so much rage and anger that its clouding his mind and deluding what he is, but his personality and quirks are still largely present at times.

Even in the Vader comic you can clearly see he still remembers Padme, especially after he hears the name Skywalker. He never says Anakin has a son, he says I have a son. But by say RotJ, he knows the name Anakin means nothing anymore, he's just Vader anymore.

>>88662461
I honestly love the insights into Vader, I think they're probably the best part of him. I loved the RotS novelization ending, the last 2-3 pages or so with Vader, where he tries to Force Crush Palpatine knowing that because of Palpatine and himself that his vision came true, everything he knew is in ruins, his power is gone though at that exact moment until he learns again, like a painter gone blind, or a composer gone deaf. But in the end he realizes that he just doesn't even care enough to kill Palpatine, because Palpatine is all he has now. So he just accepts his fate and his anger.

I love shit like that, or the Vader book where you get to see Ep. 1-6 from his POV, fucking love that shit.

>But by say RotJ, he knows the name Anakin means nothing anymore, he's just Vader anymore.

I really can't wait until the comics start to fill in that time gap. Seeing how pussy whipped by Sheev Anakin gets after he fails at recruiting his son to destroy Sheev, to the point that he doesn't even consider himself Anakin anymore.

We've gotten "canon" novels of the OT, seeing character's thoughts during events of the films since Disney bought. Will we ever get any PT ones? I want to know what Anakin was thinking during ROTS post Ahsoka.

I just realized, most of the discontinuity in the old EU comes from video games (and TCW). Barring the very early shit like the Lando trilogy or the pre-Dark Horse Marvel Star Wars publications, comics and novels played rather well together. But, say, a dozen different conflicting accounts on how the rebels got the Death Star plans? Many of them come from vidya. That doesn't reflect on the quality of the games themselves, of course, and there were games that were integrated into the continuity very well, sure. But in the end, I think it's probably a good thing that the new Battlefront doesn't have a campaign storyline (as far as I know), and instead a story is told in a supplementing novel.
>>
>>88662697
You assume too much, anon. I enjoyed the book when it was canon years ago and I have no problem with people enjoying it now. I'm just pointing out that it's not canon anymore, and neither are many of the other books and comics it references.

Same here, funnily enough some people hated the Vader comic for showing too much PT stuff(go figure)

The Dark Horse series, Lost Command was great into delving into his guilt and past too.

>look up Black Series and current toys

Now I haven't bothered with a lot of toys in a decade or more, but holy fuck they have gotten bad. Even the holographic chip toys from TPM when I was a kid look like golden gods compared to some of this new stuff.

Like the paint is screwed up on tons of them, the general look feels off, and everything is so base its crazy. Hell the best I saw was a Sand Trooper Black Series and that was $74 on Amazon. Base ass Stormtroopers for $20-25 seemed to be the next one up, but $20 for a damn toy? Shit I used to pay like $5 for the same if not better quality Stormtroopers as a kid.

Somehow the Vader figures have gotten worse too, they were never good but somehow, they're worse.

If Lucas really wanted Hayden in there he could have just use CGI to make him look 45 or so since that's how old Anakin was when he did i think.

The two biggest contributing factors are..

the quality of paint jobs in TBS (aside from a few 3.75 that were meant to be released as tlc droid factory) is noticeably lower than that of TVC and some previous 3.75 lines

then you have the fact that on a 6 inch scale, these unfortunate paint jobs are even more noticeable compared to the classic 3.75 sculpts.

6-inch is basically a meme for the most part, except for the helmeted figures. I still want a Revan though.

>tfw the golden age of star wars figures is over
>tfw all the rare clone trooper variations and obscure jedi will never be imported to 6inch
>>
>>88663306
I never understood the whole thing of him suddenly being young again.

People've said that Lucas said that he became Anakin again so hes a Jedi, but does that mean he doesn't know anything from being Vader since this is all on the "they're two people" thing? How does the Force decide which people it's okay to murder in cold blood?

And of course if it really was the goal the whole time, why did he have Shaw there at all to begin with?
>>
>>88663500
I've always been under the impression they can choose how to represent themselves while as a force ghost. Anakin just felt more comfortable as a younger person
>>
>>88663487
Yeah I can definitely tell the quality has dipped significantly with the 6 inch figures. Was interested in one of the Death Troopers from Rogue One, and boy, not great, some are worse though, like the Jyn figure I saw. Boy that was like looking at a Taiwanese Bootleg toy, absolutely saddening.

Was tempted to pick up a Black Series Stormtrooper 6 inch though, but I'm not sure. Mostly wanted to do a gay little thing with two of them with random pics of them outside on adventures and shit, just for faggotries sake. But god, I can't get over how bad most of the toys look and lord knows I don't want to go rummaging through an old storage building or two trying to find old toys.

I like to believe that when Anakin turned into Vader, that there was always that little bit of Anakin left in him, hence the whole Luke believing that there was still good in him. Even though Vader "killed" Anakin, Anakin's spirit/ghost couldn't fully pass on because of that little bit left in Vader that was holding him back. So he really died back when he was young hence why he looked young in the ending.
That's what I would like to believe anyway.

First thing I thought of for the post was that page of comic Vader holding C3P0's head.
