Who else is part of the circus in Springfield besides Jojo, Stromboli and the Coachman? There is another character in the Stand doc that was suggested as being part of it, but I'm not sure if we are using him.

Here:
>「WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN」 (Arctic Monkeys)
>User: Herman the Human Mole/Eddy (from The Resident’s Freakshow comic)
>Appearance: A large piano that, when played, creates living shadows, which may have strange or grotesque deformities on them.
>Ability: When in range of the user, anything casting a shadow at the time will start being pulled underground by it, as though the ground were intangible, or had the consistency of sand. The shadow’s strength is the same as the weight of whatever it is being generated by, so some things sink quicker than others. If they resist, the shadows can become animate and actively try pushing the opponent underground. Shadows can also pull objects underground to serve as obstacles. The stand is only effective if there is any light and a shadow to generate. The user can see through the shadows as well, to determine where the enemy is.
>Role: Suggested as a member of a traveling circus of stand users, who also guard a corpse part. I haven’t thought about who the other members should be in though, I’ve been waiting to throw out some suggestions/ideas. Anyway, I just figured he’d be a good member in the group. The idea behind the fight is that Herman would keep himself secluded while sending shadows to attack people under orders. He’s an albino with a phobia of the sun

after arriving to Spain, the racers are staying on land or in the cruiser?

>>88644597
not as much as when it first started
>>
I like this concept.
>>
>>88645070
Interesting, yeah, we can still use him in Springfield since the circus is back to having a corpse part.

>>88646545
I think on the cruiser.
>>
>>88646931
Then Hex and Pym could encounter an assassin onboard the cruiser, can't be Scud though, since he is programed to only attack during the race (don't know if D.A.V.E. has the same instructions)
>>
>>88647376
And also because Scud and DAVE won't have been introduced in the story yet at that point.
>>
>>88644597

Not anymore. There is just one guy, and everybody else left because they got bored with how things are going.

I don't even think the guy who was drawing Part 1 is still working on this anymore. Last time he spoke he was really unsatisfied with the creative choices that the people in charge of this project were doing, and that was in early October.
>>
I'm gonna start updating the doc, let me know if I missed something

By the way, are we gonna use The Fog surrogate that is currently listed?
>>
>>88648069
>Last time he spoke he was really unsatisfied with the creative choices that the people in charge of this project were doing, and that was in early October.
What did he say?
>>
>>88649084
I was going to update it later, but if you're already on it...

Which one is The Fog surrogate?
>>
>>88649270
>Jenny (Les Nombrils)
>「Radio Chaos」 (named after Radio K.A.O.S., a Roger Waters solo album)
>Appearance Takes the form of a feminine humanoid covered in gold chains around every place on its body, from arms to neck. There is a square compartment on its chest that can open up like a drawer door, and an iridescent smoke pours out of both this opening and the stand's mouth and eyes. (Brotherhood of Dada’s The Fog)
>Abilities: 「Radio Chaos」 has the power to produce a colorful high quality gemstone from the drawer on its torso, each stone having a long, sharp edge, making it seem similar to a dagger or nail in appearance. When the gemstone stabs into the flesh of a living being, it will embed itself into that being's flesh and begin to slowly suck away the memories, stand, and soul of that person into the crystal. This process will heavily weaken the afflicted as it progresses, and it takes a rather short amount of time, around 20 seconds. When complete, the person whose soul was taken will fall comatose.
>If Jenny removes the crystal from the corpse and stand into her own flesh, she is able to access that person's every skill, memory, and even their stand power. The charged crystals are very fragile and if smashed, the soul will return to the person it was taken from, reviving them.
>the drawer on Radio Chaos' chest also serves as a storage space for charged crystals, holding an unlimited amount of them to use as needed.
>>
>>88649364
That's very similar what what DAVE's stand does.
>>
>>88650417
So we could either modify it (to better match the Fog powers) or cut it and make D.A.V.E. the member of the Dada party that represents the Fog. There were also some changes that were suggested for 「One Last Time」 in a previous thread.

On a related note, Killinger was taking the place of the Quiz, right?
>>
>>88650634
Yes, because he can do miraculous things and the Quiz had "every super power you've never thought of".

Possibly the most OP power in all of the DC universe.

And I'm fine with making DAVE a Dadaist.
>>
>>88650962
Alright, I'm updating the character list too.

Shocker_Dialogue.png
24KB, 271x270px
Alright, here is Shocker's Stand based on the ideas from the previous threads, still needs a name though:

>Appearance: A small orange dog with a quilted pattern over it and a bolt on its forehead
>Ability: Allows its user to swap places with anything that he's touched within a 50m radius. In order for him to switch places with something he's touched, he must first say something while touching that object and repeat the same phrase, each object must have a unique phrase assigned to them.
>>
>>88651339
Yes. I liked that idea. I can work with that when writing the first sections of the part.

>>88653522
Now we just need a name.
>>
>>88647506
Would the assassin be on Nobody's payroll or be unconnected to him?
>>
>>88655051
Well Hex would be in possession of a corpse part at that point, so maybe instead of an assassin it's someone sent in to size up what kind of ability Hex got.

I think they are aware of Hex being in possession of one of the eyes thanks to Aunt May or Goofy.
>>
>>88655077
Between the two, It should be Goofy since we are keeping Aunt May's affiliation with Nobody hidden until they arrive to Rio

What's gonna happen with the other eye?
>>
>>88653522
「Excitable Boy」
>>
>>88655793
At any point would he shout that?
>>
damn it, there was a lot of stuff to update

>>88657174
I'm pretty sure that's the name for the Stand
>>
>>88657284
There's always a lot of stuff to update. Usually it takes me at least 20 minutes just adding in everything from the previous thread. So far I've been the only one really keeping doc 7 up to date.

It's easier if you just start at the top of the thread and work your way down, jumping around the doc adding things in where they go.
It's more difficult when discussion is all over the place since you have to keep coming back to the same places in the doc over and over again.
>>
>>88657174
Not the way the Stand is currently defined, which would require other phrases. I just suggested it because I had it in mind for a dog-based Stand of my own.
>>
>>88657522
I just mean does he ever shout the name of his ability before using it or it being explained.
>>
Bumping before bed.

Who knows if the thread will be able to make it through tomorrow.

I know I'll be busy.
>>
>>88649136

Mainly he disliked the idea of removing the Eds from the role of protagonists in Part 4 and then greatly downgrading their participation there. Considering a lot of people were expecting to see the Eds as the heroes in that part, it was really a dick move and I can see why he was so pissed about it. You can even notice how the number of contributions to the project shortened after that point.

He also disapproved Dora being pushed to be the protag for Part 6 and his disappointment with how Part 6 was handled in general. I didn't mind about Dora in the beginning but as Part 6 went on her character was written as really unlikeable and boring in my opinion.

Personally I didn't like a lot of the changes that were made to that part either, mostly removing Gaz and Giffany from the main group and replacing them with Sticks and Professor Pericles, who turned out terrible choices since Pericles was emotionally dry as Dora and Creepy Susie and his interaction with them were just plain dull, and Sticks was irritating as her personality was built to be all the time snarky and got even worse when the two anons responsible for the writing of Part 6 tried to push her to have a much bigger role in the whole story whereas there were people that wanted to get rid of her as soon as possible.
>>
After Shocker and the Front men, who is Hex next mark? I know that Mean Angel is the last one

>>88663566
The main problem with part 6 is that it was written on the fly, whenever I asked about building the plot outline I got no answers and the writefags had to come up with the story as they wrote it. Giffany was always supposed to be an antagonist turned ally, but her introduction was going to be much earlier in the original draft.

And yeah, reducing the role of the Eds in part 4 felt dickish, especially because we were halfway through with the story when the complains started
>>
>>88664293
I believe his next mark is Mojo Jojo, but his bounty hunting priorities take a back seat once he gets a corpse part and becomes hunted himself.
>>
>>88664650
I see, he would probably be captured before the european stage is finished.

By the way, the Serenity storytime already started >>88664260
>>
>>88664822
Oh good, that's started.

Anyone who wants to know who Serenity is should go check that out. It's a wild ride every year, though the edits, fanart, and other stuff often doesn't get posted until later since those who post it are usually busy during the day.

And I suppose Mojo could be captured during phase 2.

>Araki will never write/draw the Doom Patrol
>>
>>88665797
You mean while they are island hopping?
>>
>>88655077
Maybe the guy sent is one of the members of Nobody's cabinet, either Mirror Master or Doctor Destiny
>>
Which corpse part will Crazy Jane get first?
>>
god bless I haven't been in these threads since the beginning but I'm glad they're still around
>>
>>88667102
There's no one to turn Mojo over to for the bounty while island hopping.

>>88669505
Mirror Master I think we need to keep around for a while. He has a role to play on the way to phase 3 anyway.

Doctor Destiny is open for use though.

>>88665797
well fuck, I wasn't aware of this when I first suggested that Serenity merges with the whole corpse

>>88672338
There is a member of the Dada party that kicks the bucket in Rio (and jokes about getting the president's D), who should be?
>>
>>88673704
Ha ha, coincidences.

I was thinking it'd be Aunt May who kicks it in Rio.
>>
>>88673898
Ok, Aunt May dies in Rio, The Blue Meanie is retired in Paris, and Nobody dies onboard The Absolution, have we decided when the other members of the brotherhood are retired?
I would like that at least one member (besides Killinger) survives in the end and promises to keep Nobody's ideals alive and honor his comrades' memories
>>
>>88674535
Doctor Destiny is the odd man out of the group I think.

He takes things just seriously enough to be annoyed with Mr. Nobody sometimes, but still follows him.
I doubt he'd betray him or be sent to his death knowingly, but if I'm not sure if he should survive to the end.

I think Mélusine survives to the end. She did her job faithfully and reports the winner of the race despite wanting to stay behind and possibly try to save Mr. Nobody.

I know V is supposed to die, but then not really die.
There was something about a man who's name was an alliteration falling over dead in an alley way at the end from whatever wounds would've killed V. This being something about that line "Ideas are bullet proof".
>>
>>88674912
What about D.A.V.E.? does he make it to the space stage? Is he the one that kills Hex?
>>
>>88663566
Honestly, I think it would have worked out better if the Eds weren't in Part 3, or weren't as prominent. That way they wouldn't feel oversaturated. I still like Part 4 the best out of all the parts so far though.
>>
>>88675392
I don't know how far DAVE makes it yet.

Any ideas for him?
>>
That Serenity storytime was a damn roller coaster

>>88676226
D.A.V.E. has been built up as being a big threat since he was first suggested, there was even the idea that he managed to kill one of the protagonists when he was slated for part 3.

Right now, his last appearance is in the Iron Vulture before Mirror Master drops Big Guy Nobody onboard and his partner, Scud, reaches the space stage and dies shortly after Nobody is killed.
>>
>>88676854
We can have DAVE kill Hex then. We're going to kill Hex one way or another.

Unless we come up with someone else, DAVE is a good option. Pym would probably kill DAVE in a rage after the fact, but then feel remorse or some other complicated emotion since he's come to see robots as being people and not just things.

Maybe Pym doesn't kill anyone up to that point? Could tie it in with his mental health conditions he's already dealing with.
>>
Dang, page 10 bump.
>>
Well, after all those delays I finished updating the doc

>>88677078
>He first sees robots as mere soulless machines
>His opinion changes as he helped to save the lives of the town's denizens from Gatlocke's raiding party and witnessed first hand how the robots behave like humans
>Then a fucking robot comes and murder his partner in cold blood

What is the rib cage power? After Hex' death, Pym may think that if Hex would had the rib cage instead of him, he could have survived.
>>
>>88678774
We haven't figured out what additional ability the rib cage gives Pym on top of the stand he already got from the jawbreaker.
>>
>>88679087
it was originally going to be the ability to shrink himself to the size of an ant, I don't know if we are keeping that.
>>
>>88679270
What other powers has Pym had over the years in his comics?
>>

As far as I know he's mostly stuck with size change abilities, but he's used them very creatively. He'd keep all kinds of shit in his pockets, including chainsaws and labs. Pic related happened once, and he created something called the Infinite Avengers Mansion, which was an extra-dimensional HQ with, well, infinite floors.
>>
>>88679686
Well, whatever power the rib cage gives him, just remember he won't have that power during the final battle.
>>
I just thought of something really stupid.

Coconuts.

You know in cartoons how when a character gets a coconut dropped on their head they get amnesia?

You know how in part 8 the main character is supposed to have amnesia?

You see where I'm going with this? This is where the CoCo spoken line in part 8 could come from.

Like wearing a bullet proof vest all the time.
>>
>>88686548
Would it make his entire body bulletproof or just his chest?
During his downtime, Pym could check himself and notice that the kryptonian "S" symbol is now branded on his chest
>>
>>88687466
I think it'd just be his chest, but it could be applied to his whole body.

The skull was enough to give Tulio a handsome face and also a godly physique, so maybe having any part of the corpse boosts the physique of the person it has merged with.

Hex and Pym are already in pretty good shape, so they didn't notice.
>>
>>88688099
>Pym is gunned down with some serious firepower by one of the assassins
>Both Hex and Pym are astonished as the later remains unscathed, all the bullets bounced off him
>Pym burst into laughter, he even grabs a gun a shot himself in the chest at blank point
>Hex notices how all the bullets hit him in the chest and warns Pym about the possibility of not being completely bulletproof
>The assasin hear this and shots at Pym's head while he is still mocking him
>Hex manages to shoot down the bullet with one of its own just in time and orders him to take cover
>>

I'd say it happens on the train after Paris.

What power does the Wizard get from the Corpse part?

>>88685933

>>
>>88693522
The ability to semi-recreate physical locations from memories which can be explored by him.

Or some confusing shit like that.

It's how when he's at the burnt up, dilapidated old house of Daffy's family he's able to explore it as if it had just recently been lived in and find Over Feathers on Daffy's writing desk to absorb more fragments of Daffy's personality from it.

Say a house burned down and there was a rare book at one point in time on the second floor. The second floor no longer exists and the book might not have even been in the house when it burned down, but with this ability The Wizard can still explore the second floor and read said book as if it were all still there.

It's not clearly defined yet, but that's pretty much what he does after beating the ghost that's keeping the old family guardian spirit imprisoned.
>>
>>88693736
I thought that was going to be Figment's doing, or the product of a ritual (since it was suggested that Daffy's ancestors practiced occultism before being chased out of France)
>>
>>88693961
I don't know.

I'd rather it be the corpse part's doing since otherwise there's no significance to The Wizard getting the leg on Fantastic Island.

>>88710022
And if you wanna get technical, it's the comic character we are using, not the real one (which at this point have become two different entities)
>>
>>88711065
I'd say Mr. Nobody has the heart.
He has that heart shaped hole in his chest after all.

Though him having a stand be dependent on him having the heart, that's problematic since he needs [Paint it Black] once the corpse is assembled.
>>
Who else is going to Smallville besides Wander and the Beatles?

>>88713181
maybe he stabs himself with the super rod before removing the heart so he keeps Nowhere Man
>>
>>88713304
Maybe he got stabbed by the rod and that's what gave him [Paint it Black], then the heart gave him [Nowhere Man]?

I know [Nowhere Man] is supposed to be the stand and [Paint it Black] a different ability of it, but it won't make sense that stabbing himself with the rod would just let him maintain an ability rather than granting a new one.
>>
>>88713896
I don't follow, which one happened first? merging with the heart or getting dicked
>>
>>88714064
I'm saying that Mr. Nobody using the super rod on himself while they are in space would not allow him to still have his stand ability if he only had it because he was merged with the Hero's heart.

If he loses the heart, then there goes [Paint it Black] and he can't "erase the concept of heroes" by using it on the corpse because he won't have the ability anymore since he'd no longer have the heart.
>>
>>88715059
Well, we haven't considered the effect of the Super Rod on someone who already has a Stand, nor do we have an scenario like when Johnny kept his Stand with the fragment of the spine or Diego inherited Scary Monsters' ability with the eye

And speaking of the Rod, I want to bring attention to the fact that both hosts of the complete corpse are women. what's going to happen there?
>>
>>88715360
Penetration? I don't know. Just say it's inside of them and don't specify where.
Outside of maybe a joke from some of the more self-aware characters, it's not really story important.

I don't think the rod ever merged with Mr. Nobody when he had it, he just carried it around and used it to point in the direction of the corpse parts to plot the route.
>>
>>88715501
Nobody also stabbed at least Chameleon to grant him his Stand, the Rod doesn't need to merge with a person to awaken Stands

>Penetration
alright, better than the other scenario that came to mind.
>inb4 they are impregnated by a long dead superman
>>
>>88715734
No one has that big golden dildo filled with super jizz that Superman gave to Wonder Woman in case he failed and they'd have to repopulate the Earth.

uh, I thought it was a jar, but enough of talking about supes' mummified schlong, what other clashes should happen during the first section of the race? there is Hex vs Shocker and Dan vs Spongebob right now
>>
>>88717045
Well as soon as I stop having computer problems and being scared by warnings that make it sound like my hard drive could fail at any moment (which I think are all false since every system check comes back OK and if there were a problem then it would've at least crashed by now), I'll start up writing some more of the first leg of the race.

I need to remember to include Jiggy in it just to get him established.

I don't think the stuff I was musing about last thread with how the Shocker VS Hex fight round 1 goes down made it into the doc where Shocker switches places with his vehicles and remote controls it to try to run Hex down, breaking all four of Hex's horse's legs.
>>

Usually I'm the one who updates the doc. The last thread dropping off on a holiday delayed me and you got to it first.

It always feels awkward updating it with anything I came up with in the threads.

Hmm...

I want to have El Kabong in part 8 as a Scopeman who goes around playing superhero.

>>88723018
I should also add the part 8 stuff to the bottom of its doc, there were some other ideas in the previous thread
>>
>>88724122
I just need to pick where in the chaos to introduce him.
>>
>>88725820
either on the way to San Fransokyo or after arriving there, maybe he unconsciously uses a portion of the Ghost Rider's powers to defend himself from another racer before arriving
>>
>>88725977
I like the latter.

Ghost Rider has to keep his chosen host safe so he can stay in the race.
>>
When they arrive to the chamber full of cups, there should be one that looks like it's made of a ribcage as an obvious trap, yet Pym and Hex argue that there is no other way the corpse part would be merged with the grail. When Pym drinks from the correct cup the ribs spring from inside it like the spines in the stone mask and bury themselves into Pym's arms, then crawl all the way to his chest.

who else enters to that place?
>>
>>88727899
I think DAVE and someone else also end up in the cup room.

Someone is supposed to drink from the wrong cup and either die or suffer something worse than death.
>>
>>88727923
another assassin or a member of the Dada brotherhood?
>>
>>88728050
Probably another assassin.

Someone DAVE strong armed into helping since he needs someone with a mouth.
>>
>the assassin is looking for the Hero's rib cage
>after drinking from the wrong cup, the only thing left from him is his rib cage

>>88728283
We should do like in part 6 and see what characters that are already in the Stand doc could be used
>>
Since Navis' Stand is basically an universal translator, she could communicate with the inhabitants of Mata Nui and gain a safe passage through the island, is she gonna enter into conflict with the rest of the people that are hunting the corpse parts (Hex and Pym included)?
>>
>>88730118
Navis is still unaware of the corpse's existence at that point.

Her assignment is to uncover what this material is that can grant people stands.

We have it set up that her assignment comes to a close during Tulio's arc when Scud tells them about what Mr. Nobody is up to.

We still need a name for Navis' stand.
>>
>>88730197
Last thread it was suggested to name it after a french song, but that's not my field of expertise.

hold on, TOM and Serenity figure out Nobody's plan before Interpol? kek, they are getting out of shape with the years
>>
>>88730884
Well Interpol is still recovering from all the corruption they just took out of their ranks during part 6.

The fact that they even know about, and are able to act on this case, is thanks to having considerably fewer enemy spies in their ranks now.

I think maybe Navis learns of the corpse sooner since she witnessed the Goofy vs Spongebob battle, and she could become fully aware of the existence of a corpse that grants stands on Voya Nui, but she doesn't find out and confirm Mr. Nobody's plans until the Tulio arc.

Then she still has to report back to Interpol to make her findings known.
>>
>>88730884
Not my area of expertise either.

I'd say something from French Opera. There's a lot of choose from there and Wake does feeling Space Opera-ish at times.
>>
>>88726222
While in San Fransokyo, and before Ghost Rider is revealed, something near Jiggy spontaneously burst into flames and he's unaware that he caused it

>>88694019
So that's the ability that his Stand gains from the corpse leg, what power will the Wizard gain from it?
>>
>>88734643
Well the big reveal for Ghost Rider has his host up on one of those floating wind turbines.

Though he could be seen looking at a printed list of the race results and it suddenly combusts, startling him.
>>
Well damn.

This hit page 10 fast.
>>
>>88735055
during their stay in the city, the racers hear the rumors of a soul-eating monster, Jiggy may believe that things catching fire is this monster's doing and he is targeting him now
>>
>>88736480
I think that will just make things confusing.

Let's have something burst into flames as a background event when Jiggy overhears this rumor.
>>
I know I'm getting ahead of things but, when Nobody bites the dust will he dissolve like in Doom Patrol or turn back into Eric Morden and leave a corpse?

>>
>>88738830
She'll probably see what's going on from a distance.

She's in the race as an undercover operative, but she's still trying to win it anyway.
That's the only reason why I think she's able to last so long in the race, if she weren't in it to win it then someone from the Dada party would target her.
But since she IS in it to win it, it's the perfect cover.

Starting Go! Go! Go! now.

>The starting gunshot is heard followed by a roar of wheels spinning, gears grinding, pistons turning, hooves galloping, and one large rock smashing through several buildings with no obvious means of propulsion
>Equally as loud are the sounds of blow outs, air leaking from tires, small explosions, and several hundred people swearing at the same time
>TOM gets on the broadcast system “Looks like the race is off to a rocky start, folks. It seems almost half the contestants have been sabotaged! Your thoughts, Mr. President Nobody?”
>Mr. Nobody shrugs, “Live and learn. The racers will just need to keep a closer watch on their vehicles from now on.”
>TOM rubs the back of his head before getting back on the microphone “Well there you have it, but still, who could’ve been responsible for this dastardly deed?” (A Guy Fawkes mask forms on TOM’s microphone as he says this)
>Cut to Dick Dastardly in his Mean Machine laughing manically as he twirls his mustache
>His mirth is cut short as Rex’s Motor Tank comes up beside him and rams him off the road a little
>Rex gives Dick a look and holds up a mechanical device before giving Dick and nod and smashing it, then speeding ahead
>Dick frowns a little bit, but then smiles wickedly before pouring on the speed
>Pym is also in the pack, “As if I wouldn’t notice some tacky little disputer crudely placed on my magnificent Rover.” Zooms out to show Pym driving a big metal ant head

>Dan Backslide’s runabout is among the sabotaged cars
>He slinks out of it and kicks the side “Confound these racers!” but before he can get a proper rant going, he sees another runabout, one much nicer than his, parked over by the stage set up for the race committee

cont.
>>
>>88741520
>He hurries over to it and absconds with it before anyone is the wiser, all while yelling "In this Random Runabout I've stolen, I'll be sure to finish this race ahead of those fools still stuck at the starting line!" As he says this a Guy Fawkes mask takes the place of the grill design at the front of the car

>The racers who did take off are picking up speed as they exit the valley
>Pym is coming up fast on Shocker in his Shocker Mobile, a car with the same fishnet pattern all over it as Shocker’s chosen attire
>Pym yells “One side, pantyhose ninja!" as he passes him
>Shocker yells "Don't mock the Shocker!" as he waves a fist at Pym

>Hex meanwhile is on a horse and has made good use of it’s smaller size to slip between buildings, jump on top of roofs, and otherwise get to the edge of the city before the cars on the road could
>He’s looking through binoculars using his good eye and zeroing in on Shocker
>As he does this, cinematic bars appears above and below him, his horse rears and jumps down from the low roof it was on, landing in the middle of the pack, forcing Shocker away from the other racers
>A horse’s arse suddenly appearing in front of his car caused him to instinctively veer to avoid it
>Shocker recovers, Hex on his horse is right in front of him and Shocker looks to be wanting to run him down as cinematic bars appear around him as well
>Pym has noticed something weird is going on and has stopped a ways away to observe whatever this phenomenon is
>Shocker revs the engine of his car and hits the gas, Hex charges him head on, now with a lasso in his hand and soon twirling in the air
>Just as they’re about to collide, Hex’s horse jumps and Hex lets the lasso fly, Pym is watching from a distance with a puzzled look on his face as the lasso finds its mark and tightens around Shocker’s neck, yanking him him his speeding car and also binding his arms and legs before he hits the ground

cont.
>>
>>88741541
>Shocker is coughing violently from the trauma as Hex trots over to him
>Shocker can barely wheeze out a “Wh-what just…?”
>Hex interrupts “Got a strong neck, don’tcha? I reckon you’d be able to survive a hanging if that was still in practice.” Hex gives a half grin, the most his messed up face and manage
>This pisses Shocker off, he coughs and wheezes “Don’t… mock… the Shocker!”
>The cinematic bars disappear and so does Shocker, replaced by his Shocker Mobile as it speeds towards Hex and his mount
>Its sudden appearance left no time to dodge, it collies head on with Hex’s horse and keeps going, sending the animal tumbling and Hex flying
>It takes off in the direction of where Shocker is now located, which is several yards away
>Shocker gets in his car and gives Hex a glare while holding his neck, but he sees another vehicle closing in on him and decides he doesn’t have the time for this, opting to speed off to catch up with the leader pack
>Hex gets up from the dirt and watches Shocker escape, then looks back to his horse
>Its on the ground, it’s in pain, all four of its legs are broken
>Hex pulls his hat down a little and pulls out his revolver, he shoots his horse in the head, killing it instantly so it doesn’t have to suffer like this
>Pym pulls up “Hey, cowboy, you doing alright?”
>Hex growls and gives Pym the universal look for ‘go fuck yourself’
>Pym is undeterred “I saw that fight. You seemed to know everything that was going to happen before it happened, like you’d practiced that exact fight a million times right up to the point where Mr. pantyhose ninja vanished.”
>Hex snorts, “Don’t you have a race to be in?”
>”Yeah, and don’t you have a bounty you want to catch?” replies Pym “Look, this isn’t about pity, I want to know how you just did what you did, and I’m willing to give you a lift if you’ll spill the beans.”

And that's where I'm at. Next it'll be going back to Hill Valley and focusing on Wander, Sylvia, and Jack for a bit.

Though I think that's enough for tonight since it's stupidly hot where I am right now.

[Pacing] is still a new concept, and I was doing my best to get it established.

Maybe the factory that Wander ends up in is a paper mill or a paper cutting place.

Something to do with paper.

All of the paper has a dangerous amount of chemicals soaked into them, making them all super flammable. Wander uses some of this paper to begin writing suggestions for the suggestion box that leads to the furnace.
The kaboom comes from there and takes most of the factory with it.

The stuff with Mr. Nobody finally having karma on his side to bring down the hammer happens.

The fight between Dan Backslide and Spongebob happens.

Wander, Sylvia, and Jack are still in the air since Wander used his hat as an impromptu parachute.
Thunder clouds are quickly approaching them, they're all trailing behind Mélusine on her broomstick who is about to enforce the rules all upside their skulls before she gets a call from Mr. Nobody who is giving them a pass saying they're not flying, they're just falling with style.

Just getting some thoughts down for when I tackle the next part of Go! Go! Go! before going to bed.

I don't know if is important but should we elaborate on how did Nobody got the heart?
>>
>>88749100
He found it one day while taking a walk.

Or found it shortly after first observing the Wishing Star through an observatory.
>>
>>88749348
maybe he obtained it when he was just Eric Morden. Didn't the WB were researching one of the corpse's arms? perhaps he was a (very) low-ranking employee there, he eavesdropped on the research and found the heart before the Warner bros.
>>
>>88749867
I don't know if I want to tie him in with the WB.

Loki already has ties to the WB's "make our guy the president" plan.

It makes Mr. Nobody's victory in the election feel like a hollow one if he, at any point in time, was working for the WB.

He could've still been a criminal before becoming Mr. Nobody, but he wasn't owned by any demon.

at one point we should showcase how Wander's karma shields him from a racer's attack, perhaps during the big clash before CN City

Karma isn't a physical force.
>>
>>88755092
in the same way the factory explosion and Melusine's galewind put him back into the race, a chain of events could end up saving him from another racer's attack, like making said attacker miss a shot after another racer crashed against him because he tried to dodge a third racer

>>88758143
What kind of gadgets should have the stolen car?
>>
>>88758293
Nitro, grappling hook, hubcap tire poppers. All that for sure.

Missiles, flame thrower, oil slick, machine guns, and an ejector seat could be over doing it.

It belonged to some rich asshole who probably spent a lot of money turning it into a James Bond car, but still, even with how fucked up Hill Valley is, they might still have a hard time getting that kind of firepower. Or maybe not and it'll just go to show how corrupt the hill dwellers are.
>>
>>88758931
I feel that it should have at least one weapon so Backslide can combine it with his Stand's ability, and to show the kind of illegal shit the hill dwellers can get away with
>>
>>88759884
Maybe a machine gun then.

Anyway, what vehicle did jack enter the race with? I'm starting up the writing again and I've realized I have no idea what his car is supposed to be.

>A tap on the shoulder gets his attention and soon he finds himself looking down at an orange fuzzball who introduces himself “Hi there stranger, folks call me Wander, and I couldn’t help but notice you’re having some car trouble. Could you use a helping hand?”
>Wander’s hand is outstretched for a handshake, Jack hesitantly takes his hand “Uh, hi? I’m… Jack. Well, I appreciate the offer, but aren't you also in the race?”
>Wander is now eagerly shaking Jack’s hand “Oh that? Pshaw, I’m of the mind that it never hurts to stop and help anyone in need.”
>Jack finally gets his hand back “Alright, so then what do you think the problem is?”
>Wander takes a look into the engine and scratches his head “I don’t rightly know, but my partner Sylvia ought to be able to get ‘er going again.” Wander points over to another car, a bright yellow one, that’s just taken off with Sylvia dusting off her hands as a group of guys with instruments in it are waving to her

>Sylvia is still looking at the engine of Jack’s car “Hmm, I think a jump start will show me where the problem is. Wander, hand me the cables, will ya?” No response “Wander?” Sylvia finally looks up and sees Wander is no longer there “Wander?!”
>Jack points in the direction of the factory “Your friend just went in there.”
>Sylvia face palms “Dag nabbit, he’s always doing this. Hang on, I’ll go get him.”
>Jack shrugs and begins to follow her anyway “It’s not like I’ll be able to go anywhere anyway. Say, you said he’s always doing this? I’m a writer by trade, would you mind telling me a little about it?”
>Sylvia looks Jack up and down, taking in his costume “Well, where do I even start...”

>Mr. Nobody is still looking positively annoyed with having to spend time with someone as insufferable as George as he leads him through a factory tour
>George continues on with whatever he was saying before "What? Of course we’re taking care of those environmental accusations, Mr. Nobody. Which constantly sucks out their will to stand up and make up their own story." Mr. Nobody says while twirling a finger in the air
>George looks taken aback for a second before rebounding "Wow, now that sounds like something you should put in the suggestion box. It's getting a little chilly in here~~" Klimer opens the suggestion postcard box in the wall, revealing a fireplace/furnace behind it "My employees have kept these flames going for years with no end."
>George starts laughing and Mr. Nobody turns to Killinger who shakes his head from side to side slowly. Mr. Nobody narrows his eyes in contempt as he continues on with the tour

>Wander has meanwhile stopped an employee from falling in a vat of acid, saved another one from tripping on an uneven catwalk with no safety railings, and helped a disabled employee with no arms or legs up a flight of stairs
>Wander wipes his brow from all the running around he’s been doing, he looks over at the days since last accident chalkboard and it has a zero painted on it, PAINTED on it

>Wander is holding a stack of cards taller than himself that he bought from the gift shop
>Sylvia begins, exasperated “There you are, don’t go disappearing like that, we’re on a short time limit, remember?” as she points to Jack who waves as he puts his notebook away
>”Sorry Sylv,” Wander’s face comes into view as Sylvia takes half the cards he was balancing “Just let me slip these into the suggestion box and I’ll get right back to ya.”
>Sylvia takes a look at the cards, they’re all cards for sick babies “Wander, what is all this?”
>”You see,” Wander starts as he gets the cards up to the suggestion box hatch “I figured if I wrote the suggestions on the cards they make here, they might overlook that I don’t work here.”

>The cards side down the chute and hit the furnace which blazes to life, the chemicals in the cards ignite and the fire is so intense it shoots back up the chute
>Wander, Sylvia, and Jack all turn when they hear the roar and see the flames shoot out of the suggestion box, up over the vats of chemicals
>Wander grabs his hat off his head, Sylvia’s eyes are wide “Oh, flarp.”

>Outside the factory Mr. Nobody is still walking with George to where his bus is parked
>The factory suddenly explodes behind them, debris shoot out in every direction (as well as a floppy green hat shooting into the distance) as fire rains from the sky, igniting the town
>Mr. Nobody glares at George who seems nonplussed after the initial shock “What, it’s just a factory mishap, nothing a little green won’t make disappear.” as he pats his checkbook
>It is at this time Mr. Nobody looks to his aide, Dr. Killinger, who is carrying a pitch black bag.
>Dr. Killinger reaches into his bag and produces a set of scales that have now tipped to one side. Mr. Nobody's eyes go from red angry to relaxed and jovial as he begins to glow with stand power and takes out a paint brush.
>"Oh happy day,” says Mr. Nobody has he twirls his paintbrush “it seems that karma now favors my course of action and I no longer need to hold back for worry of narrative repercussions."
>Klimer looks a little confused before a glass window beside him ripples and out comes Mirror Master
>A narration box appears that reads “Mirror Master – Lawyer, polisher, Dadaist”
>Mirror Master holds George down as Mr. Nobody approaches with the paint brush.
>Fade to black

>Next we see Kilmer his eyes are blacked out and he's smiling as he's giving away all of his fortune and making phone calls “Hello? Is this the IRS? I’d like to report a my tax evasion, because I haven’t been paying any taxes. And also all the bribes I’ve been giving out. And also...”

>The SWAT teams pour into the valley and begin arresting the hill folk en mass as Mr. Nobody leaves the city "Nothing more satisfying then washing the windows yourself."
>Mirror Master also chimes in “Though we might need to hire some folks to wash the mess off the glass steagall with all the people now crashing into it.”

And that's what I have right now.

Next is back to the action in the race with Spongebob VS Dan Backslide.

This part is so much easier to write since there's actually an outline to pull from.

too bad, would make a good way to end the chapter with Stan Lee waving goodbye to the racers among a crowd, then is revealed that half the crowd is made of Stan Lees

I like this ideia better than just having one teleporting Stan Lee. But if that doesn't work, that's ok.

>Dan believes that they do nothing until a copy of Spongebob appears in the backseat, and then another one, and another, until his car is full of Spongebobs that pester him
>Dan punches one of the Spongebobs out of the car
>He rolls on the ground and is ran over by another competitor, cut to the shocked expresion of its driver
>next panel reveals a big puddle of water where the Spongebob was supposed to be.
>Dan's Random Runabout is about to crash into a rather large cactus.
>V (from the mask on the front of the runabout): "Curses!"
>The Random Runabout crashes and the Spongebobs are flung in all directions.
>V gets a face full of cactus spines and Dan ends up head first in an owl nest… with a rather pissed off owl.

>V becomes the barnacle that buried Backslide. As in the ones on the rock Spongebob is driving.

who could be the racer that ran over the spongebob?

The arsenal of Dan's stolen runabout should be mostly ineffective against Spongebob's rock.

Dan was able to catch up so quickly thanks to all the things built into the car.

The Beetles also caught up quickly because Dan cleared the way.

Yes.

A combination of Dan taking out anyone in his way and Spongebob's rock making a direct path is what let anyone who had a late start still have a fighting chance.

>We see an overhead shot of a trench carved through the earth, fences are smashed and broken, barns have holes in them, streets are damaged, and there are overturned cars in its wake
>Some of the racers are following this path like a road, a narrow and difficult road
>One racer in particular is picking up speed, cars go flying out of his way as he moves up the pack
>It’s Dan Backslide in his stolen Runabout
>Dan addresses seemingly no one, “Though this randomly robbed runabout may appear rudimentary from the outside, behold, under this deceptive dashboard is a dazzling amount of darling little doohickeys!”
>The V mask on the front of his runabout smiles contently
>One of the buttons is labeled “Nitro” which Dan has been using liberally to make up for lost time
>Dan is speeding along until something comes to view ahead of him: a big rock with a dancing yellow square man on top
>Dan lifts his head up to gaze “Hark! The leader of the pack! Now to put the hedonistic hill folks’ efforts into this car to proper use!”

>Spongebob is blissfully unaware of Dan coming up behind him, even with Dan shouting at the top of his lungs “He’ll never know!”
>Dan pushes another button on the dashboard, it’s labeled ‘tire spikes’ and causes a spinning blade to come out of the hubcap
>Dan pulls up to the side of Spongebob’s rock and tries nudging him, the blade just breaks off since it’s a big rock and has no wheels, no treads, no obvious signs of locomotion at all
>Dan almost loses control of his runabout from the impact and only regains control after he’s fallen behind the rock again
>Dan is mad now “Drat him!” he scans his dashboard again and settles on the ‘dakka’ button
>Two machine guns rise up from under the head lights and Dan lines up his shot, exclaiming “Time to blow you away!”

cont.
>>
>>88781656
>The machine guns open fire on Spongebob’s rock, hundreds of bullets pour into it, the machine guns turn red from the heat before Dan stops firing
>”Double drat him!” cries Dan as he sees the bullets had no effect because Spongebob is just riding on top of a big rock, Spongebob is still totally unaware of Dan’s existence while he continues his wiggling
>Dan is now red in the face and swerves to one side and hits the Nitro again
>He passes Spongebob without a word, just a glare
>Spongebob finally notices him “Hey! You can’t sneak by me!” and rips off a corner of his head, tossing it at Dan’s runabout
>Dan is concentrating on getting further ahead, he doesn’t notice the yellow mass forming in the back seat of his runabout until a pair of hands comes from behind and cover his eyes “Guess who~?”
>Dan yells in panic and rips the arms off of his face, also removing them from the Spongebob in his back seat
>He tossing them to the passenger seat and exclaims “Don’t do that!” before seeing that he actually did rip Spongebob’s arms off
>Dan is noticeably greener in the face for a second, putting one hand up to his mouth, before he sees the arms morph into smaller Spongebobs and the Spongebob behind him regrow his arms (and also shrink a little)
>Backseat Spongebob scolds Dan “Now that was rude!” before the mini passenger seat Spongbobs interrupt “Hey, I think this car is stolen!” as they rummage through the glove compartment
>Backseat Spongebob gasps dramatically before a big cowboy hat appears on his head “You got some explaining to do, partner.” in a much deeper, gruffer voice than before “Pull over the car this instant!”
>Backseat Spongebob takes a lunge for the steering wheel and gets elbowed in the face by Dan, the mini Spongebobs also jump on him

cont.
>>
>>88781695
>From the outside, Spongebob on the rock looks like he’s in a trance, he’s fixated on Dan’s runabout and isn’t even looking as The Wizard goes past him in a parade float pulled by motorcycles, Goofy’s jalopy, a lady with a big floppy hat and black cape on a motorcycle, traveling band of musicians in a yellow submarine with wheels, Aunt May in her old car, and a few others that whiz by
>Dan’s runabout is swerving all over the place now as he fights with the Spongebobs
>Back inside the car, Dan has finally grabbed one of them and tossed him out of the window
>The Spongebob’s body hits the dirt and tumbles limp, the men in the yellow submarine gape in horror as they slow to try to be of some aide, but all they see where the small yellow man landed is a puddle of water, and only for an instant before Spongebob’s rock runs it over
>Spongbob on his rock now has a serious expression and part of his head corner where he ripped a piece off of earlier regrows
>Dan has a look of triumph until he notices the now numerous smaller Spongebobs has taken over the steering wheel and disabled the breaks
>Dan has only seconds to notice the large boulder (Spongebob’s rock) now in front of him before he crashes into it, sending him flying out of the car through the windshield and into a patch of cacti
>The Spongebobs are splatted against the rock and turned into water which it absorbs
>The now totaled runabout is freed from the side of the rock, V’s face looks disorientated and dazed as the car rolls down hill into the cactus patch Dan was flung into
>V gets a face full of cactus spines and Dan ends up head first in an owl nest… with a rather pissed off owl “Curses!” exclaims the injured Dan

cont.
>>
>>88781739
>TOM gets on the announcer mic from the observation blimp “Oh, that’s gotta smart. I don’t know about you folks, but I’d say that puts him out of the race. Meanwhile, the barnacle that buried Backslide is already catching up with the leaders, looking to reclaim the lead.”
>V’s face, vanishes from the runabout and reappears on one of the barnacles on Spongebob’s rock, smiling once more

>Elsewhere, up in the sky, a familiar floppy green hat is seen, made large by the air flowing up into it as Sylvia holds onto the edges, using it as a parachute while Wander and Jack cling to her back
>Sylvia is stressed “Ya see, Jack? This kind of thing is always happening to us.”
>Wander is looking mighty sheepish “Sorry to have dragged you into this situation, friend. The race might not have meant much to us, but that’s no excuse for ruining your chances.”
>Jack is too terrified for anger, he’s defaulted to his writer’s persona to help him save face “Actually I just wanted to interview the racers to get some new material for my next novel.”

>Behind them are a mess of clouds rolling in, they arc with lighting and a horn made of thunderclouds can be seen forming, as if it’s a great breast rampaging through the sky towards them
>In front of the clouds is Mélusine, gripping her broomstick tightly and leaning close into it for speed with a serious look on her face
>Her approach is swift, but before she can make contact there’s a ringing in her ear “Ring ring, ring ring, ring ring, click, hello? Mélusine? Can you hear me?”
>Mélusine knows this voice all too well “Yes, Mr. Nobody, loud and clear. I was just about to bring the down the [sledgehammer] on three air born racers.”

cont.
>>
>>88781782
>We switch to the perspective of the voice in her ear, Mr. Nobody is on the ground looking up through a telescope “About that, if you mean the quaint beekeeper, the helpful orange one, and his reptilian friend, I wouldn’t say they’re flying so much as falling with style.”
>Back to Mélusine with the voice in her ear “Yes! I’m giving them a pass!”
>Mélusine comes to a swift stop, the thunder clouds behind her dissipating “Understood, I’ll leave them be for now.”
>The sudden stop and dissipation of the clouds did not remove the momentum of the air that was traveling with them. A powerful gust blows the three airborne races in the right direction
>Sylvia looks down and sees some of the racers “Hang on boys, we’re not out of this race yet.” as she tries her best to control where they glide to

That's where I'm at.

As always, poke and prod at it, even re-write it or come up with a new version if you have something better in mind.

I have relatives coming to visit soon, so I might not have time to do more for the next week or two.
Or maybe I will. I can't see the future.

Next needs to be a scene with Hex and Pym as Hex explains [pacing].
>>
>>88781849
do we have a proper definition for the pacing?
>>
>>88784939
Not a proper one, right now it's just
>"Pace" might be something we can employ here. It's not like MELODY, it's like one character makes all the other characters around them behave in a certain way, like they fall in rhythm with this character and it lets the person decide the "pacing" of the events which lets them predict the outcome.

Which I've done the best I can with via cinematic black bars appearing in Hex's case.
Pacing probably works differently for different characters, or maybe the black bars can just be a visual effect to show the skill is being used.

A good as time as any to put these up for review I suppose.

「Baby Metal」

>Appearance:
「Baby Metal」 has a female doll's head with blonde hair and blue eyes equal to the size of a fist. For its body, 「Baby Metal」 has a mass of pale green thorny vines with metallic barbs at the end of each vine's tip. The overall size of 「Baby Metal」 is roughly the size of a beach ball.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: E
Speed: C
Range: A
Durability: A
Precision: D
Developmental Potential: E

>Abilities:
「Baby Metal」 is an automatic stand, which goes after a target its user assigns. Once it has found a target, 「Baby Metal」 will grab on and wrap around the target's body. Once it does, it becomes the target's stand. If the target is already a stand user, then the owner's previous stand will slowly diminish in power. In addition, over time, 「Baby Metal」 will transform its target into a perfect clone of 「Baby Metal」's original user. It will alter the target's body before it alters the target's thoughts. The stand's original user must be female.
---
「Judas Priest」

>Appearance:
「Judas Priest」 has no physical appearance, and is bound to the sweat of its user.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: E
Speed: E
Range: E/A
Durability: A
Precision: C
Developmental Potential: A

>Abilities:
If the sweat of 「Judas Priest」's user touches an electronic or mechanical item, its user can control that item from any distance. The only limitation to this ability is that it can be something that the controlled device can realistically accomplish. This control extends to individual mechanisms such as buttons, pedals, gears, and levers.
>>
「Cannibal Corpse」

>Appearance:
「Cannibal Corpse」 takes the appearance of a mummified human torso with arms and a head. Its head is humanesque, but has a large birds beak and has jagged teeth that are sand-like in texture. The bandages that cover 「Cannibal Corpse」 are loose fitting and reveal blueish grey skin, which have golden rings attached to it.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: B
Speed: D
Range: C
Durability: C
Precision: A
Developmental Potential: D

>Abilities:
「Cannibal Corpse」 can absorb a single cause of death of any person or group of people. The people who should have died will experience things as if nothing has happened. Once 「Cannibal Corpse」 has absorbed the death, its user may have it inflict that death upon a person in its range that has sustained an injury. The injury can be as minor as a needle prick. 「Cannibal Corpse」 can only absorb one death at a time, it cannot absorb the death of its user, and it cannot absorb deaths caused by itself.
---
「Strapping Young Lad」

>Appearance:
「Strapping Young Lad」 takes the form of a hulking, grotesque blob-like humanoid. It has minimal features, with only four glowing eyes and a large glowing maw. Its skin is a lilac color, and is eyes and mouth glow a crimson red. It stands around three meters tall.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: A
Speed: D
Range: C
Durability: A
Precision: E
Developmental Potential: E

>Abilities:
Whenever a person other than its user in 「Strapping Young Lad」's range speaks, two kilograms of mass are added to that person's body for each syllable the spoken word has. This effect also applies to words that have been written down and words communicated by non verbal means such as morse code and sign language. In addition, 「Smash Mouth」 possesses immense strength and can easily crush boulders. Whenever 「Strapping Young Lad」 picks a person up, it ignores the mass added by its ability.
>>
「Blink 182」

>Appearance:
「Blink 182」 is a humanoid stand with a greyhound motif to it. on the back of each of its head is a dog skull. 「Blink 182」 has tannish fur covering its body. It has no ears and has a large afro-like hairstyle. 「Blink 182」 has multiple knees and multiple elbows and is very slender in build.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: B
Speed: A
Range: C
Durability: B
Precision: D
Developmental Potential: B

>Abilites:
「Blink 182」 can produce copys of any moving object before it begins to move. For example, before its user fires a bullet from a gun, the bullet can appear a distance after the point of which the trigger has been pulled. The process repeats with the image of the bullet being slightly closer to the barrel of the gun, and so on until the user fires the bullet. The image generation can also apply to any person. If the user makes images of himself, then the user can travel to any created image at will.
---
「Flogging Molly」

>Appearance:
「Flogging Molly」 is a humanoid stand with a female shape. It has no features on its face aside from one large pair of lips and has a large eye with thick lashes on the back of its hand. Its body is a pale, almost white shade of green, and has brown dreadlock like hair that extends to the bottom of its feat.

>Stats:
Destructive Power: A
Speed: C
Range: E
Durability: C
Precision: D
Developmental Potential: A

>Abilities:
「Flogging Molly」 can transform any object it touches into a weapon that its user can wield. There is no scope to what weapon can be produced, however it must be roughly equal to the size of the original object. Weapons created by 「Flogging Molly」 can harm other stands.

I just saw the writing about Jeff, Clarence and Sumo wandering the Beast's realm and it was pretty good as usual, especially the character interactions. Only thing is that the Beast should've been more formal and less talkative.

I redid some of his lines, take these as suggestions.

>Clarence: That was an earthquake, Jeff, an archeologist should know (Jeff just glares at him)
>???: Ah, so much has passed since the last time someone tried to disrupt the peace of the forest of the Unknown. You humans have grown bold; Just see how close you were from stealing my relics
>Clarence: that didn’t happen the last time…

>???: Alas, I’m not interested in seeing your next attempt to take away my nourishment. I shall finish this long-overdue task of removing the pests that roam my underground realm
>Jeff: Eeek!
>Clarence: I don’t like the sound of that
>Sumo: Who’s there? Show yourself!
>???: I have been given many names by the mortals and the immortals across the countless eras, but I grow quite fond of one: The Beast;
>Sumo: Well, I won’t say it a third time, show yourself ‘beast’!
>Beast: “But I’m already here! I’M EVERYWHERE!” The Beast’s voice came from all the corners of the room and from the tunnel behind them
>Sumo: I’m not afraid of your lame trick, come out and fight!
>Beast: “As you wish. Come, wayward souls…” The vines in the walls bulge and shake as if they were alive, the roots in the altars further coiled around the urns, forming cocoons
>Jeff: Guys, I think we should start run

>>88785075
Is this the same ability to "read" the narrative that was proposed earlier for Hex?
>>
>>88793990
Yeah, it looks like the ability has been named [pacing].

It lets the user set the timing instead of needing to have timing like with MELODY.
>>
Though we should discuss the specifics of pacing a little more.

Like how it's different from MELODY.
>>
>>88795412
From what I gather it comes from Hex' experience as a bounty hunter, right? in that sense, it's similar to how Stretch and Space were supposed to be unlocked, by understanding the user's surroundings and how things are composed.
>>
>>88795591
Alright, so that can be part of the explanation.

MELODY is about exploiting timing to create various effects.

Pacing is about understanding the environment and exploiting it to bring everything around the user into their rhythm so they can see with near clairvoyance what is most likely to happen next.

It works with what we've established already, just a different application.
>>
>>88796579
So, by experiencing the same or similar events in the past, Hex is able to predict the near future through identifying certain patterns that repeat each time?
>>
>>88797869
No, I don't think it has to do with Hex experiencing something like his current situation before. That'd make the skill useless when you need it most.

It think it's about reading the current situation and then shaping it into something you are familiar with without the target noticing.
>>
>>88798067
will it have an equivalent of the Super Spin?
>>
>>88799164
If someone comes up with it, yes.

It's still a concept that needs a lot more discussion and elaboration. I almost want to get some /tg/ going on in here just so I can get a clearer picture of just how different this concept is to MELODY, what both concepts are capable of, and what is unique to one or the other.

Making it clear that it's not MELODY or a STYLE is something I'd like to get down.
>>
>>88799666
At the end of the description of Melodies it says that "This allows one to effectively outwit reality in small doses". Was Melody able to alter people besides the user or it only affects oneself? The way Pacing is described makes it seem that it forces people and objects to follow a certain guideline or "rhythm" that might be unnatural, while Melody allows the user to briefly become an anomaly that isn't bound by the natural laws, as long as he has Belief and Timing on his side.
>>
>>88800394
Yeah, MELODY is something that the user can use to alter themselves, produce items for short periods of time, and also alter anyone or anything they're in direct contact with.

PACING seems to be the application of a set path onto a given situation so the user can manipulate or predict the outcome. It's a little like seeing the future, but also a little bit of changing what the future would be by applying a template to it.

The two have a lot of overlap, but are different skills.

Though since spin and ripple are the same way, this is appropriate.
>>
>>88801219
Pacing also seems to lack the comedy/horror element from Melody
>>
>>88801900
Yeah.

Really, the best way I can think to describe it is like applying a template their immediate surroundings that adheres to the users desires/preferences/tastes so they can, with some accuracy, predict what will happen next and interact with the flow in such a way that it looks like they've done whatever they're doing a million times before, like they've practiced for years for this exact moment in time.
>>
Ah damn. That's a missed opportunity.

We could've foreshadowed the atomic super men in part 4 with Jumba and how the technology to make them was still experimental.

Well, hmm. A lot of part 4 is still kind of sketchy, so it wouldn't be impossible to get that in.
But it feels a little late for it now.

happy new year /Co/Co/
>>
>>88804195
Hopefully we won't drag too long into 2017 with this project.

I'd hope to have it done before July, well before July, but we have a lot of schedule slips and we're only just now getting started with writing part 7 in earnest.
>>
>>88805112
Well, things did get a little better nowadays as some more Anons rejoined the project. I hope things get done too, we're just too close to finishing this project.
>>
>>88806027
Not really that close. More than half way, yeah, but still a long way to go.

Part 7 being the main focus right now and part 8 after that, then we'll need to actually fill in all the rather large gaps present in parts 3 and 4.

Well, here's a bump before bed to see how far into the new year this thread can last.
>>
1st morning bump
>>
>>88803044
So that's the main difference, Melody alters the actors while Pacing alters the scenario. At higher levels, the user may be able to manifest a power similar to what Space was going to be.

>>88803813
Maybe a line about how his Stand can create what science can't achieve yet.
>>
>>88810586

Page 10 morning bump.
>>
>>88811104
going with what? the foreshadowing or the definition?
>>
>>88813053
Both.

Though I was more referring to pacing altering the scenario.
>>
So how is pacing applied differently from user to user?

Hex's pacing racks up the drama with showdowns and slow close ups and stuff I guess.

What would it be like if Pym uses pacing?
>>
>>88814419
Should it be different depending of the user?

>Backseat Spongebob gasps dramatically before a big cowboy hat appears on his head “You got some explaining to do, partner.” in a much deeper, gruffer voice than before “Pull over the car this instant!”
Is just me or Spongebob switched to a cowboy persona in the same way Patrick had a business persona in part 5?
>>
>>88814736
That's part of what I'm trying to determine.

Aside from not having the time right now to continue writing part 7, PACING needs this kind of discussion so we know what its limits are.

>>88815240
Could be.
>>
>>88815541
Well, Pacing feels closer to Melody than Style, and the latter was the one that manifested differently between users, down to having a different name for each Style
>>
>>88815645
Style was all about application through posing. A style user doesn't need to be naturally gifted in melody to learn a style.

Pacing is something I just want more discussion about to get ideas going. The better developed a concept it is, the easier it will be to integrate it into part 7.
>>
>>88815842
What I mean is that Style was closer to a martial art (if I'm not wrong, it emulated the Pillarmen's manipulation of one's Cels), while Melody and Pacing seem to be subtle ways of reality warping
>>
>>88815895
Yes, that's all correct.

Now what kind of stuff can a pacing user do or do more easily than a melody user?
>>
>>88816878
Maybe set events in a determinate path and then disrupt them in a convenient way, like causing someone to drop his gun in the middle of a duel
>>
>>88817048
Like making someone question if they heard 6 shots, or 5.
>>
I'm thinking we can incorporate any attempts we make at explaining what PACING is into the scene where Hex tries to explain it to Pym.
>>
>>88817976
How one could achieve that? by duplicating/silencing noise made by a shot or messing with the target's hearing directly?
>>
>>88819963
By racking up the tension to cause the target to doubt their own senses after witnessing something highly improbable.
>>
So, what's the name of Jack's Style and how does it work?
>>
>>88820868
I've seen Buzz Kill and Buzz Off suggested.

It works by letting him control bees, hornets, anything that buzzes and stings.

If I had to make something up on the spot, the poses he makes resemble the dances bees make to communicate where flowers are.
>>
>>88820955
>Jack came up with the name "killer buzz" for his Style, but his instructor says is too pretentious/ridiculous and it's renamed Buzzkill
So posing attracts bees to Jack somehow and striking a target "marks" him, making the bees attack the marked target.

Should Jack develop a hidden Style like the characters in part 2 or is too much for a guy unrelated to Strickland and the fight against the Pillarmen?
>>
>>88821598
Well, if Tulio has some mook pillarmen working for him... that suddenly makes things more relevant.
>>
>>88824353
which of the mook pillarmen they were going to be, the red and blue guards, yzma's test subjects or the animal pillarmen?
>>
>>88824717
I'd say Yzma's test subjects.

One of the old WB labs in the area could've been built into one of her old labs and that's where the bulk of the research on MODES was coming from.

Tulio could've found it and started enhancing his army using the stuff in the labs, so he ends up with an army of half-formed MODE-less mook pillarmen.

If Navis is Strickland in this on top of being Interpol, she should know a few tricks and could give Jack some advice on developing his style.
>>
Last bump from me before bed.

Should Navis have a style? I don't think it's necessary for her to have one, and we could easily say that she's just Interpol working with Strickland to investigate if we need a reason to justify it.

Dang, we really are at the point where it just needs to be written, but I'm too busy with life to continue right now.
>>
>>88827018
>Should Navis have a style?
I dont know, on one hand her Stand's ability isn't combat oriented so it could be useful for her, specially if Tulio has lesser Pillarmen as mooks, on the other hand, she might me just an Interpol agent that is posing as a Strickland employee.
>>
>>88829251
Well, she's not really posing as a Strickland employee, just being sponsored in the race by them.

The ability it grants her isn't combat orientated, but I think her stand has the same offensive capabilities as a tiger or lion, it's just close range for the cat body.
>>
>>88824877
then Tulio has mutated pillarmen as his heavy hitters or he experimented on his whole army?
>>
>>88833209
Probably just the heavy hitters.
Once the technology is advanced enough he probably had plans to get a whole army like that.

Really, Mr. Nobody crashing the racers into Chile probably spared the world another global takeover attempt.
>>
Oh, a thought just occurred to me.

We should have a scene during phase 1 of part 7 with some people either talking about how trouble is brewing in South America or a news broadcast about how there's been another skirmish on the Chili-Argentina boarder and people talking about how someone should really do something about that.

>>88833422
Yeah, and?

They're having skirmishes, that was established in some of the stuff written for Tulio's arc already, I'm just suggesting we have some foreshadowing of Tulio's existence long before we get to him.

Right, Mafalda, I don't know much about her, so it's hard remembering who she is.

Pretty much all the characters who are natives in the South America portion (as in not racers or wacky race affiliates) are open to suggestion.
>>
>>88833524
You know, part 7 is a number of decades after part 1.

It's to the point where we can get away with there being super tech and airships that work.

If the pillarmen had super propane, they might have had super helium or super hydrogen.

There was an episode in Mystery Inc. where the monster of the week had super helium or hydrogen to make their flight suit work and I think it got used more than once in the series.
>>
>>88838144
>there has been an supernatural arms race in the background since Pillar Propane was first synthesized
Damn it, now I want a mad scientist-like character onboard Tulio's airship just so he can brag about the kind of experiments he has conducted to enhance their army
>>
>>88839453
>supernatural arms race in the background since
And we got into that heavily with the WB, this is just a different area of research this time.

So... well, no. Wernstrom is dead. Would it be too on the nose if it were a German scientist who went into hiding in South America?

Well, there is this thing in the real chilean army about having prussian tradition (they even use pickelhaube in ceremonies and german-esque uniforms)
>>

The unnamed German doctor will do then if we need such a character.

Though Tulio's arc is still a ways off.

Maybe some of Mr. Nobody's opponents will criticize him hosting such a race when there's trouble brewing elsewhere in the world that he really should be dealing with.
>>
>>88832244
What other uses could we give to her Stand? So far, I've seen the idea of getting the inhabitants of Mata Nui on her side
>>
>>88843075
It allows her to understand any language. ANY form of communication.

She can talk to animals, machines, anything that communicates she is able to communicate with.

When in the middle of Europe she can more easily get directions to the 6th checkpoint since there is no language barrier.

When in South America, she can talk to animals and find the location of all of Tulio's secret shit and safe routes around his forces.
>>
>>88843184
>ANY form of communication
even body language and ciphers?
>>
>>88845158
If it's a way to communicate, yes.

Hell, the Computer's constant dry demeaning comments could be something only she can hear since her car's A.I. communicates in a way designed so that only she can hear and understand it unless it wants to talk to other people.
>>
can't you faggots go to /a/ to post about this shit series?

>>
>>88846456
I assume it happens in the big cluster pileup caused by Dick Dastardly, so anyone still in the race you want to include in it.
>>
>>88847061
I think the clash before CN City was caused by something else (all the racers converging), Dick returned to the fray after setting traps in the finish line just to mess with the racers
>>
>>88849521
So to get to wherever in the city the checkpoint finish line is, there's only one direct path down the main road and anyone out in front ends up on it.

Of course, there's always the option of driving on the sides of the buildings to bypass the roads.

Anyway, last bump from me before bed.

>>88871374
It could. We just need to come up with something.
>>
>>88871697
In lieu of a particular item, a user of the Pacing could infuse any object, allowing it to alter the rhythm of whatever it strike.
>>
>>88873105
Or perhaps a certain aesthetic?

If the user is able to look a certain way, they can permeate an area with their pacing?
>>
Page 10 bump.
>>
A bump before bed.
>>
morning bump
>>
So, the Pacing consist of two techniques:setting up the rhythm of one's surroundings, and then disrupting the rhythm of someone/something during a key moment to generate a desired effect, is that correct?
>>
>>88879979
Yes.

Like with Hex VS Shocker at the start of the race, Hex's Pacing made Shocker forget about the race and fight him, though it still wasn't enough to overcome Shocker's stand since Hex didn't know about it.

With Pacing, information is power. The more the user knows about their surrounding, situation, and targets, the better the Pacing works to bring everything into their rhythm.
>>
>>88873995
Well, Stretch and Space were supposed to have balls as tools, however it wasn't elaborated outside of a single example for each one.
>>
>>88881475
We've moved pretty far away from stretch and space now.

I never got how any balls were involved in that aside from the super scrotum.

I'm not even sure if the super scrotum is still in this part.
The super rod is, I know that much.
>>
>>88882851
I was thinking that we could reincorporate the Space as a subset or evolution of the Pacing since both consist of becoming aware of the medium

>I never got how any balls were involved in that aside from the super scrotum
kek
>>
>>88883125
I was thinking Hex's stand enhances his Pacing power to the point where he can fire a bullet in a random direction and some amount of time later, it will find its target.

This being done by Hex pointing at the panel where the target is before they are at that location during the time of the panel when Hex fires the gun.

I can envision this working, but it is so very difficult to explain it in text.

It works with the predicting what will happen next thing.
>>
>>88883416
>Pacing allows a way to predict the future by calculating the most likely outcome of a given situation
>Space can get a more clear image of the near future by visualizing following panels
I like it
>>
>>88883797
Though we're not using space as a concept anymore, that can by how Hex's stand works.

Though he should dislike using it since looking at the future sets those outcomes in stone.

Meaning if he looks into the future and sees his own dead body, nothing he can do can change that, but he can still shoot whoever kills him before it happens so the bullet kills his killer after he's already dead.

>Space requires one to become aware that exist inside panels

Hold on, are these a poor man's CHIM?
>>
>>88887032
I think pacing is what's replacing space.

>>
>>88873995
Maybe a user can arrange the pacing by himself but needs a physical medium to cause these so-called disruptions, either his own body or a tool that is able to interact with the rhythm once it becomes infused
>>
>>88887522
ok, what we have so far about the Pacing?
>>
>>88890376
Pretty much whatever is in this thread.

The concept was introduced last thread then applied in-story this thread, now we're hammering out the details.

>>88888958
Like... inserting themselves into someone else's narrative, then making it their own?
>>
>>88890528
I been imagining this rhythm as a sort of unseen force that moves things and people on a determinate way, and disrupting the pace would be like messing with a line of ants, things get in disarray as the rhythm tries to rearrange itself back to normal
>>
>>88891624
Well, with that analogy, that means the line goes back to normal as if it were never disrupted.

I think it'd at least change the direction of the line.
>>
>>88892608
Yeah, but before going back to normal there is the initial confusion that the user can exploit, or even better, an adept user of the Pacing could potentially alter the rhythm (either on the exact moment or previously to the disruption) so it rearranges into a different way once it corrects itself.
>>
>>88892815
I think we need some examples of the technique in use.
>>
>>88893943
Let's see: Hex is getting chased by a tank during Tulio's arc and he managed to put the tank under his rhythm, the tank is aiming at him and ready to fire but Hex disrupted the tank's pace; first, what was meant to happen (the tank firing at Hex) won't be, instead, a random occurrence will take it's place unless Hex is able to manipulate the pacing to get an specific result: the tank may stop abruptly, the turret may spin in the opposite direction (and fire at an ally), the projectile may harmlessly slide out of the cannon, etc.
>>
>>88894386
That's not a particularly good example.

If it's a tank, then Hex would need to activate his pacing, get the tank's attention so it aims for him and not someone else, then fire a bullet which hits the tank's treads causing it to miss Hex and hit one of its ally vehicles that was behind Hex.

I think pacing makes those one-in-a-million odds more easily accomplished.

Like Hex being able to both jump over Shocker's car while riding a horse and rope him around the neck at the same time.
>>
>>88894533
So when Hex beats Frank in CN City, is because he either disrupted his rhythm and caused a bullshit occurrence, or he diminished Frank's pace, which in turn nullified Frank's ability to keep his extreme weapon working.
>>
>>88895904
Is Frank using pacing or MELODY?

Either way, Hex brings him into his rhythm so that whatever bullshit Frank is using (rocket propelled chainsaws) gets a hard dose of reality slapped into it, blowing up in Frank's face.
>>
>>88896117
>Is Frank using pacing or MELODY?
With the way pacing has been developing in this thread and what it can do I'm not sure anymore, it does feel like Frank is able to make things around him behave in a more volatile way with his ability (and there was already an example about shattering a window and making the shards flew in an impossible way).

Also, should the skill's name be Pacing or Rhythm?
>>
>>88896296
I'm going with pacing since it describes a story telling element.

Alright, let's see what we have so far:
>Pacing requires one to understand that there is a natural flow that govern the motion of things, known as "Narrative"
>Inside this Narrative, people, animals and objects possess a particular rhythm they follow that dictates the likely outcome of their actions
>When someone uses the Pacing, the user extends (mentally?) his own rhythm into his surroundings
>Everything that is caught in the user's rhythm will behave according to it instead of their natural rhythm, the Pacing user basically becomes the conductor of the scene
>By "reading the Narrative" a user of Pacing is able to predict future events as long as they follow the current rhythm that governs them
>A particular technique of Pacing is the "disruption" of the rhythm, a sudden halt of the natural flow that throw things off balance, leading to unlikely events to happen as the narrative tries to correct itself

what else? should the disrupting have a different name?

>>88898724
>His last words are "I'm riding the lightning!"

>>88899158

>>
>>88902385
Defeating either Stardust or Wizard Daffy with the abilities of the perfect Space and Stretch has been brought up a couple of times, and the idea about Pacing being part of a greater genre-awareness ability was suggested earlier today.
I was thinking that there could be a fight involving two users that ends with the body of one of them drifting amid the "cushion of nothingness" that is the space between panels.
>>
>>88902557
Interesting.

I think I can spin that. Pym needs to use a combination of pacing and his stand to alter the very panels the hypothetical comic pages would be presented on to force Stardust out of the comic.

This can be accomplished by using his stand's ability to shrink and enlarge things in tandem with his pacing abilities to either break the panel barriers, or redirect Stardust's attacks to the panel dividers, breaking the panel and disrupting the flow so badly that the universe has to eject said panel's contents to recover.

This could also serve as foreshadowing to the meta horseshit that I suspect the plot of part 8 will become once the "null the universe" plot is revealed.

Of course that's just my first thoughts on it.

I'd love to have Stardust defeated by his own OP powers.
It does beg the question of where he goes once he's in the void.
