>Mr Incredible threat rating 9.1
>Elastigirl threat rating 6.2

What was the threat rating of the kids? Were they more powerful?
>>
>>88571446
The kids don't have a threat rating, but I argue that Dash and Violet are slightly stronger than Helen. Still, none of those three would be able to take on the Omnidroid 08 alone. Hell, I doubt those three together would be able to take it out.
Jack-Jack is a different story, though. Only God knows what Brad Bird has in store for his growing power set.
>>
Kids didn't have a level since Syndrome didn't know of them. I'd imagine them at the end of the film to be around 5.0.

Helen's awfully high for her power, but against street level villains she'd have no problem.
>>
>>88571731
Honestly, to beat the omnidroid all you have to do is lure it into attacking itself without getting hit. Anyone of them could have done it except maybe Violet because she has the worst mobility.
>>
>>88571446
They don't have threat levels because the identity of Supers' children weren't public. They also didn't go through a lifetime of superheroics which probably factored into what Syndrome viewed as a threat versus the Omnidroid.
>>
>>88571833
Bob was only able to do that by getting inside the damn thing.
None of them have the strength to remove one of the heads.
>>
>>88571446
Mr. Incredible's rating is somewhat justified, even if you factor in any potential lingering fanboy-ism from Syndrome. Other supers had potentially more broken powers, but either couldn't use them at a level where they'd be dangerous, or they could use them but weren't that much more durable than a normal human.

Mr. Incredible had one of the highest durability ratings around, so he could tank what the Omnidroid could throw at him until it evolved.
>>
>>88571915
> Violet uses a forcefield to pry open one of the ends
> Helen slips inside whenever the head is out
> Dash vibrates through it
> Jack-Jack somehow gets inside through the power of baby slapstick

>What was the threat rating of the kids?
He had no idea they existed. Hell he didnt even know elastigirl and mr. Incredible hooked ip
>>
>>88571999
>> Dash vibrates through it
He's not the Flash anon.
>>
>>88571915
Violet's able to move her force fields after forming them and is able to form them through solid matter.

She could conceivably tear anything apart by bubbling part of it and moving the bubble.

She can also fucking fly.

If she ever gains the ability to form multiple fields at once then I'd say she's the one that wrecks shop in the family and until then she's still a pain to 1v1.

Her threat rating is a little high, but I think Helen's threat rating was more due to her intelligence than her actual powers. She was one of the more intelligent supers.

>>88572111
>tfw you'll never get to start a eugenics program with Helen.
It's okay anon. Better men then you have tried and failed. She's a known heartbreaker.
>>
>>88571999
Well, more likely ways for them to get the Omnidroid to attack itself is just:

>Dash runs all over it and tricks it into hitting itself
>Helen similarly slips around the hit.
>>
>>88571999
>> Violet uses a forcefield to pry open one of the ends
And how the hell is she going to get inside of it? The Omnidroid is still too tall for her to even jump inside of it.
>Helen slips inside whenever the head is out
The robot was thrown head first into lava and it was still able to function. If lava could not slip through, I doubt that Helen can.
>Dash vibrates through it
He isn't the Flash.
I will give you Jack-Jack, though.

How about the amazing psionic girl just makes a giant indestructible glass sphere around the robot, then slowly makes the sphere smaller.

Checkmate athiests.
>>
Jack Jack could effortlessly solo it.

Violet could put a psionic bubble inside the Omnidroid and expand it.

Dash could just evade it until it ran out of power.

Helen is screwed, imo.
>>
>>88571446
Depends on how fast Dash can run.
Jack Jack is stronger than both his parents though.

>>88572789
What's was Jack-Jack's deal? I'm sorry if this was revealed in some special editon thing, or panel, or whatever. I'm legit curious if they went for a similar thing as with Franklin Richards.
>>
>>88572995
I always took it as his powers hadn't really stabilized because he was still a baby.
>>
>>88572995
Jack-Jack can go through walls and can also float.
Utilizing this correctly, he could easily destroy the Omnidroids without much trouble.
>>
>>88572995
His powers were revealed in a short that came with the DVD release, as well as at the very end of the actual film with a short bit he did with Syndrome. He has basically everything, but has little control over it since he's a baby.

Shapeshifting, levitation, laser eyes, the ability to phase through solid matter, able to eat various materials (he ate his way through a crib), can become a human torch, turn his body into possibly any material (movie showed him turning into some dense, heavy metal alloy), might have either teleportation or super speed (or both). The list goes on.

Who knows what his limits are, if there are any.
>>
>>88573047
Comics say otherwise.

Jack Jack has Molecular Self-Manipulation. Which includes density shifting[Allows Phasing which also causes an electrical disturbance when he passes because his body generates bio-electricity so he just shuts down all electronics, and gives him near invulnerability], weight manipulation[allowing levitation and flight], complete shapeshifting even into other nonphysical elements such as fire, and he has Teleportation apparently.
>>
>>88573239
Horry shiteru
>>
Not just Jack-Jack, but Violet to me seems absurdly powerful. She basically has Sue Storm's powerset. If she can tweak her forcefields like Sue can she's completely broken as a super.
>>
>>88573604
But as with Sue if you can deliver enough force against her shields it'll knock her out.
>>
>>88573659
So it all depends on how strong she can make them. Is that a thing that will increase as she gets older?

That's something else to consider. All the Parr kids are still just kids. Even Violet is only barely a teenager. Will their powers get stronger as they age?
>>
>>88573659
Whereas if you can deliver enough force to the rest of her family, they just fucking die
>>
>>88572191
>minimum thickness 1mm
W-what's her Maxium?
>>
Reminder Violet can fly as quickly as Dash can run
>>
>>88573239
>>88573560
>>88573047
>>88572995
Director's intent is Jack Jack's grabbag represents the limitless potential babies have to be anything as well as that whole thing about how babies instinctively know how to swim for like the first year of their life but end up forgetting and having to relearn later.

Additionally, the only power Jack Jack was able to pass on when he had the superpower virus in the comic series was the Human Torch ability. None of the henchmen union members trying to take advantage of the contagion got any of the other powers he possessed, so most likely, fire powers were what Jack Jack's going to end up settling into going off the beliefs of the comic's writers.
>>
>>88573732
Dash's top speed is only 190 MPH.

He's shit for Speedsters.

>>tfw you'll never get to start a eugenics program with Helen.
There's a deleted scene for Incredibles where Syndrome realises that the kids are Bob and Helen's children, and says that they were being naughty because supers apparently aren't allowed to breed with each other.

The entire characterization of the family is heavily based on gender roles.

What if he never died? Mr. Incredible tricked Syndrome into thinking he was dead by jumping off of a waterfall and avoiding a scanner by hiding behind Gazerbeam's bones. Who's to say Gamma Jack didn't pull off a similar stunt?

In fact, what if he faked his death to avoid being tracked by the NSA? He obviously has darker intentions, now that the supers are banned he can't carry them out as easily. Is Gamma Jack the villain of the next movie?

I have a feeling he may have detonated himself ala Nuke from Marvel to destroy the next omnidroid which had been upgraded to resist radioactivity. But he had the unknown ability to put himself back together atom by atom after the explosion. And he did so then as you said used his presumed death to his advantage to stay off the grid and plan his revenge against a perceived inferior humanity that he felt wanted to destroy supers per Syndrome's actions. I really want him to be the villain in a sequel but to be different than magneto in how he and his agenda is portrayed. I could see him being played by someone like Rob Lowe or Chris Evans.

>>
>>88580453
>>88574267
Meta Man had a higher threat rating (9.6 to Mr Incredible's 9.1), but he was dead by the time Syndrome was hunting down supers because of a cape accident. He had a lot more powers (a ridiculous number: flight, super strength, X-ray vision, sonic scream, teleportation, magnetic manipulation, partial invisibility), but was nowhere near as indestructible (he has maxed out strength, endurance and power types, and very high agility, but lowish intelligence and very low indestructability).

There was also Universal Man, who was just as indestructible as Mr Incredible, and could control his density to anywhere from "gaseous" to "near black hole", but he didn't have the super strength Mr Incredible had and was only given a threat rating of 2.9, presumably because while he can tank stuff, he's not great on offense. He was maxed out on indestructability and very high on power type, but strength was only average and everything else was low or very low.

Mr Incredible wasn't the absolute strongest, or the most durable, but he had the right mix of the two as second or third strongest and second or third most durable that put him in the top echelon via the combination.

You think as smart as someone like Edna or Syndrome are they'd design a cape that if pulled on strongly would just pop off leaving the wearer unhurt.
>>
>>88582491
Sensory overload + speedy attacks. It's hard to utilize your foresight/clairvoyance effectively if you're too busy avoiding trees and shit thrown at you, so all the Omnidroid would have to do at that point is distract the super long enough to get a sneak attack in.
>>
>>88582570
That's too high level for them. There should be a competitor for Edna who loves capes and designs different kinds for different purposes. Would be perfect for extra offense or defense. Edna would freak.

The real question is how Edna got out of cape costumes and into regular fashion if she's a famous superhero and superheroes are totally banned.
>>

Since Supers are no longer in business. What exactly does Edna do? I don't think suits like she gave to the Incrediables could be sold to most militarys, I mean they seem expensive.

Bob is OP as fuck. His super strength seems to be greater than other heroes' super strength, and he's also one of the only heroes with super durability.

Super strength is such a mundane power that you forget what a big deal it is. It's the difference between a hero you can stop and a hero you can't.
>>
>>88582732
Depends, are the ratings from the government itself, or are they Syndrome's own appraisal of the superheroes?
If it's the latter, then he might have jacked up Mr. Incredible's rating due to his fanboying.

The scales were probably biased by Syndrome in Mr. Incredible's favor because of Syndrome's personal connection to him.

Did any of them care about civilian casualties? They talked about superheroing like it was a game and mostly seemed concerned with the glory of it. Literally the only part of the movie where altruism seemed to be a primary concern was when Bob is getting yelled at by his boss and sees the man mugged out the window.
>>
>>88571973
I always figured that Bob's number was a point or more higher than it should've been because Syndrome was still a fanboy at heart.
>>
>>88589392
I just realized how Syndrome beat most of them, they were probably just going about their day normally when he sent the robot to kill them. Only Mr. Incredible would've gotten invited to an island because Syndrome did this all for him.
>>
>>88593623
no all of them were invited to the island at different times. Mr Incredible even finds the skeleton of one of the supers when he's hiding from the robot
>>
>>88592478
Jack Jack seemed to be alerted when Mozart started playing, and the Parrs had never seen him use powers before this.

It's quite possible it awakened them within him.
>>

>>
>>88593895

>>
>>88593585
I think those tapes showed the flaws in having supers in that they're really just random people that develop powers and just because they have powers doesn't make them great people or responsible or altruistic.

>>
>>88593526
I think younger Mr. Incredible is supposed to be a bit of an asshole. His tape in >>88577329 is just him taking the piss out of another superhero. Remember, even though Buddy created some incredibly advanced tech even at his age, from Mr. Incredible's perspective, he was just a little kid who put himself in harm's way, and made his job all the harder since he had to save him, plus Bomb-Voyage got away because of him, which is always a possibility when some kid tries to tag along like that. Plus in addition to that, it was his wedding day. He had other shit on his mind. It doesn't completely excuse him, but it does make his completely ignoring Buddy's super intelligence more understandable.

When you're already irritated at a guy who won't leave you alone for an extended period of time, and he's in the process of fucking things up for you in the middle of an incredibly busy day, you're not going to take the keenest notice of his virtues.

The top 4 as I recall were Meta Man, Mr Incredible, Gamma Jack, and Hypershock.

Meta Man was superman but not indestrucible, so incredibly dangerous but y'know, he could be killed.

Gamma Jack was basically a normal person, but he could fire incredibly powerful radioactive beams, with basically no effort. He could turn anything within 100 meters to ash with a thought.

Hyper Shock could cause earth quakes, and powerful ones too. Dude could destroy a city. I think he had limited super durability and strength, but not to the degree of mr icnredible.

Mr Incredible had his strength, but he's nigh invulnerable, and has a spider-sense type power. Additionally, he's actually pretty willy and good at thinking on his feet.

You know who else is underrated? Hypershock.

Dude was insanely powerful, he could generate earthquakes that reached fucking 6.0 on the richter scale, which is a big fucking earthquake, and his hammers had no known limit. He could level fucking cities.

And he was an unstable, angry alcoholic, who needed constant praise, or else he'd fly off the handle.

This is what I like about the incredibles universe, the supers are just, people. They're not all paragons of good, or villains. They're all flawed to various degrees, some are bad people, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna go out and seek world domination.

Heroes kill their villains, this seems to be par for the course in their universe. All of the main family does, we get mention of several other heroes doing so, as far as we know everyone does.

But it does all of this without feeling edgy or grimdark at all. It ends up managing striking this really, well, realistic tone. It's gritty, bad stuff happens in this world, as it would happen in the real world if there were super heroes running around. But there's not bad stuff happening for the sake of bad stuff, everything's just very naturalistic.
>>

The entire problem with the "no capes" sequence in Incredibles 1 is all the heroes who wore them weren't durable.

Capes are absolutely appropriate when you're majestic and godlike and it can't possibly hinder you like Superman, or when you're a normal human with a winged-animal theme who uses it as a glider like Batman.

If it's a deleted scene then it's not canon. The government obviously had a big part in getting them their new identities, you really think they would not know about the two of them fucking and having kids together? If it really was such a big deal they would have had them be separate.

That's a big chunk of text for Mr. Incredible, Syndrome was truly a fan.

One other, though not too practical, thing capes do is make the person that wears them seem bigger, increasing intimidation.

There was a deleted scene where Helen defends being a housewife and mother against some career bitch. I hope that scene is added to the new movie.

Also, consider that a lot of them probably worked in teams, which amplified their effectiveness.

It's only 15 issues. The art is a little... down syndrome-y, but the writing's really good.

That's not entirely fair about the art, the faces are weird, but other than that it's solid. The layouts are nice, good sense of motion etc.

I'm pretty sure most commercial airliners can fly with one engine functional, so at least the passengers probably would have survived.
>>
>>88599926
Bear in mind this was in 57

>>88599961
Can we figure out the kind of plane it was? Then we can find out if it can fly with one less engine.
>>
>>88599926
It'll at least glide long enough for a survivable landing.
>>
>>88599968

Actually, we probably can (assuming they used a real life jet). The wiki states she died in 1957, so the aircraft couldn't have been introduced after that date, and thankfully commercial jet airlines were in their infancy. The aircraft clearly has 4 engines, so that also helps narrow it down.

Based on that, the aircraft that it could be/most similar to in appearance and function, is the Boeing 707. While the first commercial flight was in 1958, with it's first ever flight in December 1957. It was probably an oversight by the writers, and it's feasible that the aircraft would have existed in the universe.

Assuming all that is correct:

https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20090803-0

"Returned to Ahwaz for an emergency landing following a reported uncontained No.2 engine failure."

Seems to indicate that engine failure is not necessarily the end of the aircraft, although it's probably an improved model, and training for pilots has improved since the late 50s.

This and she's by far the slowest physically weakest of the bunch, basically the physical equivalent of an petite built teenage girl, Dash seems to at least know how to uses his speed to his advantage to take out henchmen even at his age but violet needed an assist with one guy.

If he didn't get knocked out by his own rocket boots and kept using his zero point energy, Syndrome could've soloed all four Incredibles and probably the robot too.

She's a Susan Storm type though, which means she starts weak but as she figures out her powers could easily become the real team powerhouse.

16. There's a zero issue everybody keeps forgetting that takes place around Jack Jack's birth.

Every character's powers represents their character/family role.

Bob's a strong father figure
Helen's the mom that has to constantly stretch around to get everything done
Violet's a moody teenager that just wants to disappear and keep everyone out of her bubble
Dash is ADD boy.

What could bring down the aircraft is the turbine blades coming apart and tearing into the engine and the neighboring engine. If both engines exploded that could potentially tear apart the wing and finish off the passengers.

Guess I'll just have to wait for the sequel for more. Do you think it'll be set years after the first movie? The Toy Story movies took place years apart from each other, pretty much the same amount of years as when they were released apart from one another.

Hang on, Plasmabolt's missing from Syndrome's kill files and she doesn't die through cape malfunction. Her costume looks like it disguises her secret identity pretty well and her powers passively destroyed her audio file so she's hard to track electronically - maybe Syndrome just couldn't find her?

Wonder if they'll bring her back in Incredibles 2?
