It looks like they took a bunch of animation tests of animals performing karaoke and made it into a movie.

what bothers me about this movie is that there's no reason for them to be animals. zootopia isn't even that great, but at least in that movie the plot, setting, and many of the jokes completely revolved around the fact that they're animals, whereas in this theyre animals just because. all the characters in this movie could be replaced with people and barely anything would need to be changed. i'd say that they're just trying to take advantage of zootopia's popularity, but given how soon after zootopia this is coming out it seems kinda unlikely.

also its a mediocre movie with bland, stereotyped characters and an uncreative plot, and it's gonna make a fuckton of money anyway because its colourful and has talking animals and lots of pop music

Animated movies take years of work and planning. This was probably in development long before Zootopia gained popularity.

To answer your question OP, it's because it was boring. You could turn on a radio to a random pop station and you'll get the same amount of entertainment.

I don't care if it wasn't a bandwagon movie and even if it was made before Zootopia. Zootopia came out this year, and it did something slightly interesting with anthropomorphic animals. This is another talking animal movie, and it does nothing interesting with them. It also looks ugly as shit when compared side by side to Zootopia, and you might say that's shallow, but art and aesthetic are kind of important when it comes to animated movies.
