Merry Christmas, friends. Its that time of the year again, time for the annual daily Les Nombrils/Bellybuttons storytimes leading up to Christmas!
Why? Because fuck you, it is genuinely great.
What is it? It starts as a gag a page comic about a human noodle and her terrible friends but slowly turns into a story driven character piece but not without the jokes. Though the latest volume is a flashback to before things got all serious, I think just to let the authors relax a bit and do some gags again.
Now, this really should have started yesterday but I had some stuff come up so that just means we'll have a double size thread later in the storytime, when I have more time to spend up with you wonderful people telling tales of french noodles. Probably tomorrow or Thursday.
And remember to thank Ouash, our scanlation namefriend who comes back every year when this comic resumes to post us fresh weekly translated pages just in case he's here. Everything after I think volume 2 or 3 is his work.

The first couple volumes are pretty short, this one isn't even 50 pages. So this thread will go quick, and every new thread I'll make sure to provide download links for the previous storytimes for people to catch up.

>>88566233
I also think the flashback nature of the volume that's just beginning is because the creators missed Dan and John John

I know we usually have Les Nombrils storytimes a few times a year, but has anyone here (or later comers, since hell if I know if there's anyone reading this now) not read it before?

Be right back in a tick
I'll never really understand why /co/ loves this series so much. Yeah, it's good, but not that good, IMO. But I guess if it gets people into le french merde, that's cool I guess.
>>88566598
Yeah, yesterday got kind of fucked up. Everything should proceed normally between here and Christmas save one day I have to work until its almost 10 EST, so no storytime till 11.
>>88566677
I'm in the it is that good camp of thought but that's why I do this.

>>88566800
Any first-time readers?
>>88566821
>>88566842
Fun fact: Delaf (illustrator) previously worked in animation, providing layouts and storyboards for "The Little Lulu Show", "The Busy World of Richard Scarry" and "Creepschool".
>>88566839
I'm not but I always appreciate these storytimes and I know there were a couple of Anons in recent threads looking to get into the series.
New readers' reactions are always great.
>>88566877
Previously? So what do they do during the dead periods between volumes, another comic or just take a year off and live on residuals?
>>88566934
>>88566934
>So what do they do during the dead periods between volumes?
Do planning for the next volume, I presume.

And on that note, so ends volume one. I did say it was pretty short.
>>88567353
The first two volumes are weakest I feel, but still pretty enjoyable reads. Hope any new readers stick around for later this week
Thanks OP.
>>88567393
It's always nice to see how different (sorta) the art style was in the early volumes.
>>88567304
> foreign film
> American blockbuster
The whole Canada/France thing keeps slipping my mind while reading these.
>>88566192
seriously fuck those 2 bitches. This comic can be good but those two make me not want to read it.
I went and read vol 7 and saw how the ending they were crying and laughed my ass off.I seriously dont want anything more than misery for those two.
>>88566677
I'm coming to realize it may be out of exposure. It's a passable series with crappy eye-candy characters and a reasonable a of poignance, but I have a hard feeling for anyone when they always revert back to their bitchy antics.
>>88567888
Aww now you spoiled it for anyone who hasn't read it yet and would have found the climax there cathartic.
>>88568537
so im not the only one who enjoyed seeing them cry?
>>88568772I think most people felt Vickie had it coming. She was a cunt there at the end and turned away from the universe itself offering a hand to let her start being a better person
>>88568875
well im glad im not the only one who enjoyed them suffering but that ending made it feel like you were supposed to feel bad about them and it was the opposite.
>>88568964
I think most of them are realizing they were shit and will be dealing with that...the volume after next.
>>88568875
>>88568988
Nah, their probably gonna double-down on their bitchiness until the next tragedy. Especially with Karine out of their way.
Is it okay to like Will since he's the only not shit parent?
>>88569905
>homophobic to the point he'd disown his own daughter if he found out she was gay
>had a child with another woman while he was married who he never saw
>good parent
>>88569982
I suppose now would be a good time to ask if Canucks are just as homophobic as Will
>>88569982
Lesbians in Les Nombrils are seen as turbo sluts who threaten the law and order of the suburbs. Will was doing everything he could to protect his home and daughter from being corrupted by the she devils.
It's really hard to care about the second point when the woman he married is a shallow slut.
>>88567206
oh snap resolution for those earlier scenarios
also her parents look unexpectedly normal, whodathunkit
>>88567098
So the other girls aren't much better either it seems.
>>88571910
Everyone in this universe is a dick. Just you wait, anon. This isn't even close to the nadir.
>>88571910
oh please don't let karine end up being a dick too in some sort of mean girls-esque reversal
>>88572593
A whipped dog can only take so much. But how it bites back doesn't need to be total douchery.
