Disney seriously exploring WW1/WW2, atleast further than a bit of one movie. Should they have done it or not?

Disney cannot do serious stories for the life of them.
Give it to a studio that can actually handle a subject matter like either WW seriously and efficiently without some hamfisted happy ending or some dumb animal sidekick.
>>
>>88540283
>without some hamfisted happy ending
Well, it has to teach something good. A movie that just shows the horrors of war to kids wouldn't sell.
>>
>>88540259
They own other studios to do those stories, Anon.
>>
>>88540314
And that's why you can't give it to Disney to do it justice.
People care far too much about money that everything depressing has to be spun around so much until it has a happy conclusion.
>>
>>88540259
No. Disney is very focused on individual stories about young protagonists. WWI and WWII would be relegated to a backdrop. People would complain. A lot.
>>
>>88540419
Nobody would complain. A lot.
>>
>>88540259
No, because as >>88540283 said they arent the right studio for the job, too focused on making people happy and selling well rather than focused on giving the event the proper somber tone it needs

I think the only current studio capable would be Laika, as they arent concerned with making their money back as much as other companies

This. If you aren't going to go for disturbing and depressing, then don't even try.

>>88540703
desu I found the remake to be way better.

The Soviet one? It's not bad, but Stalin said it best. One death is a tragedy, one million is a statistic. The nuclear bombs at the end just don't have the same impact as a single gutshot soldier drowning in mud.

nigga

You're a retard. Just because the character in the movie gets a happy ending doesn't mean they have to make the whole thing happy. Disney can definitely wrench heart strings too.

And there are shit tons of movies out there that show all the horrors of the World Wars, but they're not children's cartoons, so you'll likely never see them you big fucking baby.
>>
>>88540931
Are you serious?
>>

Kill yourself Disneyshill.
>>
>>88540954
It's an absolute fact. Hell, because of the thread let's just look at Disney itself. Bambi.

Do you even remember the forest fire scene? Hundreds and hundreds of animals must have died. It sure as fuck was implied. But no one remembers that. People only remember Bambi's mom getting shot because suddenly it's personal and you can feel the impact of that single death. Get a lot of deaths, and there isn't as much impact anymore. You simply can't process all of those deaths with the same emotion.
>>
>>88540954
Not that anon, but it's a principal that holds true to this day. Most people see a major catastrophe like war or an earthquake as a singular event, and thus lump any and all casualties into one. On the other hand, a single or select few deaths can get a person to sympathize or feel horrified by what they've witnessed.

Don't believe me? Look at the news.

>>88540259
It's been a while since I saw return to Neverland, but wasn't WWII more of a backdrop during the time she spends in the real world before Neverland? It didn't feature that prominently.
>>
>>88541165
>atleast further than a bit of one movie
>>
>>88540259
No.
People got mad when Disney got the story of some 14 year old feathered chick wrong, and you want to combine that with WWII? The one topic there's always somebody getting mad about ? Yeah nah.

Disney should stick to adapting fiction.
Besides there's already enough WWII movies.
>>
>>88540314
You can do like La Vita e Bella with a bittersweet ending.
>>
>>88540962

>serious

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>88540419
That sounds like an Anne Frank movie.
