The release of the extended edition in theaters sold out, even if it was just a few theaters across North America with that Fathom Events presentations. I don't know how well the Blu-Ray sold, but I'm sure if WB decided to do a sequel, it's more a matter of how much money they want to spend on 2D animation. The book itself and the film suggests enough for a sequel, but just like The Incredibles, I don't imagine it will happen soon.

Also, I suspect even though Tomorrowland wasn't any huge hit, that Bird would like to do more live action than not.
