I still think the pilot looks great. New designs are generically designed as all hell. Not everything has to be re-designed to be "appealing". If that were the case, Rugrats wouldn't have been one of the biggest cartoons of all time.

Steven universe is a good show, it's just massively overhyped with a rabid fan base that downplays its legitimate flaws.

Besides the inconsistent airing that is out of their control, the show suffers from slow pacing and tonal whiplash. There's nothing wrong with mixing lighthearted and serious plot elements, but the fact that major world threatening issues are dropped so frequently bothers me.

Not to mention the SJW fans that define the show primarily by its LGBT themes and as a result think that the show is pandering directly to their personal worldview, but again that is not the creators fault.

A thing I didn't liked about it was pearls design I honestly can't stand it but the final show is pretty good

i liked the design of the pilot, and it was very well animated. it broke my heart when they changed it. especially pearl's hair. i'm more okay with it now, but i still don't really understand the shape.
