Some video games seem to really capture the spirit of the Cape

Some video games seem to really capture the spirit of the Cape characters they're adapting and really make you feel immersed in the character
Others not so much.

Batman: Arkham Asylum, and that Punisher game in like 2004 are great examples.
Other characters like, Superman have a difficult finding footing.

So I want people to post characters and others to respond with an elevator pitch on making a video game adaption work.

Is it a shooter, a point and click adventure?

Luke Cage

Set in 1970's Harlem. Like Grand Theft Auto except you play as a vigilante. The environment is mildly destructable, meaning you can slam people through walls. Occasionally, you can run into other street level Marvel heroes such as Spider-Man, Daredevil, Punisher, and Iron Fist among others.

Silver Surfer

It's basically a space sim game, so you control the Surfer like you would a space ship in a space sim game. Can land on any planet and has a huge exploration element. You can chose to either serve Galactus, go against him, or find ways to convince him to not eat a certain planet. You may run into the FF while crusing space or other Cosmic Marvel heroes. You may even run into former Heralds.

Blade game by From Software, or made in the style of Dark Souls/Bloodborne. Huge melee focus with a huge arsenal of weapons that feel different and cater to different playstyles. Instead of managing stamina in battles (since you're superhuman), you manage a blood supply, requiring you to feed frequently to keep your abilities at their peak. Could even make it a buddy game with Morbius using the same playstyle, switching off between the two of them or with a separate campaign.

Daredevil

Pretty much a Bioshock game. You can choose to go dark and light, with mentors on both side: Father Lantom as the Light mentor and Stick for the Dark. Court scenes are done like the trials in Mass Effect and KOTOR turned up to eleven, perhaps with evidence you find throughout the game and tons of branches in dialogue trees. Combat could work in the Arkham style, but a more RPG style like in Dragon Age or KOTOR could work too.

Superman

This would take some cues from Arkham Asylum.
The setup is that Superman must cross into an alternate Earth that has been dominated by General Zod and every single Phantom Zone criminal. Metropolis is a dystopian nightmare, all but wiped out by Zod and his men and turned into a massive concentration camp for humans, who must either join Zod's army or die. Lex Luthor has constructed a massive stronghold in Smallville, which becomes Superman's base of operations. Superman's goal is to liberate all the innocents left in Metropolis, cripple Zod's army and stop Zod before he invades Superman's Earth.
A key plot point is that this Earth was where Superboy's Silver Age adventures took place, and so there are tons and tons of relics from those days all over the place. Superboy disappeared long ago, and Luthor and the humans think Superman is the original Superboy returned to them. Superman needs to find out how to get into Superboy's secret underground fortress to obtain the Gold Kryptonite he needs to depower Zod and his minions.

Anyway, to this length the gameplay is straightforward. Superman can fly, he can run extremely fast, he can fire heat beams from his eyes with pinpoint precision, he can sense enemies and innocents all around him, he can freeze with breath, and of course he can punch really fucking hard. The entire city of Metropolis is fully destructible, but it's a bad idea to go all out before the civilians have been cleared out. Of course, the game will end with an all out slugfest that levels the city.
Superman has all his powers from the beginning of the game, but the progression will come as the player is thrown into situations where they are expected to be creative. As the player gains skill with Superman's powers, they'll be able to effortlessly combine them to take out swaths of enemies, just like with Batman in Arkham.

Moon Knight

Start the game as an adventure like Uncharted, then show things that aren't there as you function in the city, solving a mystery, slowly realizing that YOU killed the victim, and then when you reach this point, you finally meet the egyptian gods, and become their herald, now the rest of the game is you trying to prevent them from being discovered as the cops and churches you were working with now hunt you down with the help of unseen allies.

End the game where you play as the enemy of the Moon Knight, who terrifies you and leaves you bleeding and beaten.
Moon knight is more terrifying than batman, done right

The setting seems like it's trying too hard to conform to modern gaming settings, but the plot is interesting enough to offset it.
