I liked the concept art but the final product looks really, really generic. The visuals are nice, for a 3D CG show, but I'm really not a fan of the main 3 character designs.

It totally is. The trolls look nothing like they're supposed to, according to the book. Blinky, the male troll on the right is supposed to be a as of eyes and tentacles. AARGH, that sad-looking piece of shit on the left...she's supposed to be like 13 feet tall, furry like a bear, with huge claws and teeth the size of tombstones. That human chick looks nothing like Jim's love interest in the book, a redheaded, combat boot-wearing, tough as nails tomboy with a scottish brogue. They probably even removed all mention of Jim's still-teenaged uncle Jack (kidnapped by the trolls some 40 or so years before Jim was born to help the trolls stop Turok from leading an evil troll assault upon the human world. He didn't age as a result of living in the troll world) who TRAINS him in weapons use. There are no magical power-up type crap like the trailer for this series shows, just training and do-or-die combat to rescue children from being abducted and eaten at night. Is "Sturges" even still Jim's family name, or did they change that, too?
