Jaune did pretty good in this fight actually. Still got his ass kicked, but so did everyone else, but he had legit improvement from his old fights.
He blocked more hits than he received, and was still standing at the end unlike Ren and Ruby.
I guess training by sparring with Pyrrha, a very high ranked fighter, made him better at fighting other people than Ruby who's specialized in Grimm slaying and sucks against people.

Not quite. Jaune is Defensive Tank (High Armor, Damage Reduction) and Support (Advice, Tactics, Agro control).

Nora is Melee DPS as a high-damage bruiser, but she is Strong, not overly Durable.

Ren seems to actually be a kind of Situational support; seen rumors and theories about his Semblance being a kind of augmented sensory perception. He might not actually hit that hard unless there are specific circumstances or conditions are met, such as the type of enemy or attacking weak points or the enemy is larger than he is (King Taijitu, Gheist while it was in golem form).

Ruby is a lot like Nora in effect, but more extreme; glass-canon high mobility melee DPS that can kite around with some ranged offense as well, though mostly single-target compared to Nora's AOE Ranged blasts.

I'd imagine that an aspiring you Hunter has a veritable buffet table of cartridges to choose from. Those that have specific requirements probably hand load.

The only major issue in this supply chain that I can see is the SDC's monopoly on dust. Transporting that amount of material internationally is probably a massive headache.
I'd imagine that most kingdoms keep a strategic reserve of it like our countries do with oil. So that they don't run out every time Atlas shits itself and embargoes the stuff.

Besides, Blunderbusses do have a few advantages for someone as eccentric as Port. If you can cram it down the barrel, and have enough Dust-powder, you can launch it. If you're flush you can fire entire handfuls of Dust crystals at Grimm, if your strapped for cash you can resort to cheaper or even improvised buckshot

Yes, but when we see the representations of each nation, the Atlesian figure is armed with a rifle. Besides, the early Hunters were likely formed hundreds of years ago, and it took the Great War to force Remnant to begin formalizing their training. After all, you can't just leap from "there are no Hunters" to "massive academies that are designed to churn out Hunters", there had to be a middle step for a number of years where Hunters would take on apprentices or something. Maybe that's where the idea of teams and leaders came from, three apprentices was considered the optimum number for a more senior Hunter to train at once

That's basically what I assumed, but then that further suggests she was working with a lower level of technology, because she needed whole entirely different blades in order to utilize singular Dust effects with them.

Raven is clearly pretty resourceful, at least now, so why wouldn't she upgrade? The only explanation I can see for why it isn't just lower tech is that pure Dust blades could perhaps achieve amplified effects that Dust imbued blades couldn't.

But, that makes no sense. If you're using Dust as a propellant there's no reason not to use it as the ammo. I mean think about it, why would you take the time to pack Dust into the barrel only to then find some rocks to launch instead of just using that same Dust for shells? There are literally no advantages there whatsoever.

But from Ruby's perspective the gears would have been Qrow's thing, not Ozpin's, the gears are even in his symbol. And then since she copied his scythe, the only reason she wouldn't use gears is if between both of them developing their weapons technology had improved to the point where gears were no longer an effective way to change the weapon, and Qrow's was straight worse in that regard.

Raven doesn't "print" anything, her sheath literally holds all the blades prepackaged inside it, and when she wants a new one the cylinder revolves and attaches it to her hilt. That is definitely less advanced than Weiss' setup.

I don't think Blake's weapons are necessarily done wrong, since such a thing doesn't really exist in a world that runs on crazy. But it does seem like it hardly ever gets used to it's full potential. Outside of the Black trailer, she never really uses some of the crazy chain scythe moves. Most of the time it may as well just be a swordgun.

I think that's a pretty common problem in RWBY though, everyone gets these cool transforming weapon with tonnes of options and utility; but still mostly stick to a default simple fighting style

Logically all Dust is one time use, because it's a finite resource. But again, I adressed much earlier that one of the possible advantages Raven might have could be that pure Dust blades have amplified effects in some way, which is supported partially by the WoR on Dust. But that's only a suspicion, otherwise her weapon seems plainly inferior to Weiss'.
