It was back in a time when Cartoon Network was trying to create it's own original programming, so to kind of tie in their heritage as well as bring in old fans they incorporated Hannah Barbara characters. Grim Adventures did it as kind of keeping up with that spirit I guess.

Now that Cartoon Network has all kinds of it's own original shit there's no real reason to bank off the success of old cartoons anymore.

What's honestly amazing is that in all those decades, Fred's character model has gone unaltered.
