It didn't go through the blade, and even if it did, he's full of aura right now.
And it wouldn't make sense from a narrative point of view. We haven't seen him in a real fight yet, and he's one of the strongest on the good side. Pyrrha's death rose the stakes, but his wouldn't make sense, as Ruby and co aren't ready yet to handle the situation yet.
Remember, Cinder, Emerald and Mercury fucked off when he came for Amber.

If Qrow goes down they lose. Ruby is caught and the others are dead, barring yet another person showing up to save them. Tyrian had no trouble finding them, and nobody is even close to his level and won't be without either years more of practical experience or months of being specifically taught how to kill rogue hunters.

I've heard that Nigri's acting in non-RWBY stuff is actually pretty okay or has been improving. I assume a lot of the issues with Cinder is that voice directors want Nigri to do a voice, the sultry keikaku lady one, and she's not very good at maintaining it. There's also the issue of her having only like two or three hours to record all her lines in Volume 3. She's much better in RWBY Chibi, where she's allowed to emote more. So, there's a lot of factors contributing to Cinder not sounding so great.
