Why aren't you pursuing a glamorous and rewarding career as an animator /co/?

there is no such thing as a glamorous and rewarding career as an animator, they work for peanuts.
I'm rather a concept artist

disgusting

Because corporate IT pays more.

What are you, masochist?

It's this kind of mindset that drivels quality in western animation.
>Cartoons will never match up against Anime in quality
>>88312708
Be the change you want.
Quit your job, sell your house, learn how to live on 600 calories per day, abandon friends and relations, and just draw all day forever. History will thank you. Unless you puss out.

My paper can't dry enough to draw on from all the pussy juice being spilled on it.

Japanese are impassioned with the artform.
Westerners feel entitled to compensation for the little they do.
>>88312708
>>88312783
They literally do tons of work for peanuts, and only do it because they wank it to little girls.
>>88312783
Econ 101: Demand drives price.
Japs don't work for nothing because they're selfless. They do it because their fellow Japs value cartooning so little they don't spend much money on it.
When art is in demand, artists make money. Japs don't value art.

Aside from being all "muh glorious nippon" about it, you're kinda right. But if you're here you probably care at least a little bit about animation elsewhere. Its easy to sit, compare, and complain, but nothing is going to change if one half thinks it's not worth it, and the other half just shits on them for thinking its not worth it. Lets be honest, you're going to have to take up other jobs if you want to be an animator and afford to live where you're probably going to work.
>>88312708
Jap animators get paid shit too. Even worse than Western animators.
>>88312811
Are you implying that there is anything wrong at all with wanking it to little girls?
>>88312708
can one be anymore of a weeb?
>>88312460
>there is no such thing as a glamorous and rewarding career as an animator
what about as a video game animator, they seam happy since they don't get fucked by censors
>>88312708
>get paid less and expected to do work
>work like a slave just to make ends meet
>anything that isn't a BD looks like shit anyways
>friend is an animator
>tell him i'm planing on buying the dvd for the show he worked on
>tells me he doesnt get anything from sales
>>88313112
I actually know a animator and he lives a miserable & boring life, don't know much about video games but it can't be much different.
I'm crippled by anxiety and catastrophic thinking. Same reason I don't have a girlfriend.
>>88313184
Give him some dick
>>88313184
Videogames are actually pretty great as far as animation work goes, don't know about the programming side.
I know people who can pay for a fucking house by just doing freelance work on indie games, and I know companies like valve treat their employees ridiculously well.
>Not getting some free movie editing programs like davinci resolve and getting free money as a youtube editor for wannabe lets players
I heard is sucks being an animator, but I still want to pursue being one.
Should I, /co/?
>>88313926
If you go into it expecting the keys to the creative kingdom you're going to want to kill yourself.
If you go into it as a daytime job thst won't make you want to kill yourself while you work on your own art projects it's pretty ideal. Just apply to commercial studios.
>>88314030
I'm so glad I've had that second mindset the entire time.
Its legwork to keep you somewhat in practice and you can do your own shit on your own time.
>>88312377
It's not glamorous and rewarding, but I pursue it alright
>>88314030
But I want to direct my own animated film. I don't want to slave away being an animator my whole life.
>>88314350
Your choices are get rich enough to do that, or get enough people to remember your name and trust you.
>>88314231
>>88312708
>quality
>>88314447
Or just be a really good animator and people will want to work with you.
>>88312708

Anime industry constantly breaks labor laws to maintain their quality

And those of the occupation, don't mind
