Fantastic Four is one of those few comics where the advice of "start at #1" is actually good advice because the original Lee/Kirby run is genuinely fantastic and a must-read for anyone that likes Marvel. It's Lee/Kirby at their best. It has a bit of a rough start as they first get their footing, but is definitely worth checking out.

After that, I'd say Byrne's run and Hickman's run (pic related) for second and third best. Waid's run was also pretty good although he writes a shitty Doom.

Hickman's is obviously the most modern while Lee/Kirby is silver age goodness. Byrne is a nice middle-ground between the two. There's also a number of good minis and I think the Millar and Ellis issues of Ultimate Fantastic Four are worth checking out, but between those three runs, there's a lot to keep you busy. Make a thread about what you think of them! Always nice to have some F4 discussion.
