The Justice League needs to assembled because there is no longer a Superman. It gives Batman more of a reason to seek out new allies. And later in the movie when things overwhelm the team, he returns from the dead triumphantly.

Superman was in 6 movies before he died. Audiences will get to enjoy that payoff. Similarly, Batman fans have seen him in 8 movies before seeing him finally fight alongside actual super heroes.

He doesn't have to sit through the whole film like the audience.

This is a universe where fucking Wonder Woman lost faith and Batman is no longer a hero, Superman has to sacrifice himself and die to give back hope to the world and let Batman and WW start a church in his honor.

Basically they did what Superman fans always wanted: make Superman the center piece of the entire universe and have everything revolve around his figure and yet they still complain because he isn't in every scene.
