Perlmutter is in charge of everything except the films, which Feige had to personally kick him out of. The ban for X/FF related properties, including here in MVC4, is being hinted at still being in place and aside from some iconic characters like Logan, Mags and Doom I'd expect them to scrub the roster for anything else.

Spidey would have clearly suffered the same fate if they hadn't patched things up. He was the only Spider related property in MVC3 back then too, even taking out Venom despite being a fan favorite and having been in multiple titles prior.

To add a bit of clarity, Sony held nothing at all but the movie rights, they had nothing else, Marvel still had everything else like merchandise, etc. So the Sony movies were win-win for them, Sony carried all the burden, expense and risk of making them, Marvel could take their cut and make money off merchandise as well. Sony got nothing but what profit could be made off the movies themselves. It's why Sony were willing to negotiate after Amazing Spider-Man 2, they spent roughly half a billion on that movie and made something meager like 20 million dollars in profit. Not a great return on investment, even if it was in the black.

For at least the X-Men, that wasn't the case. Marvel can't make money off what Fox is doing on the side beyond trying to do some synergy. Although there's some partnership going on now that Marvel are co-producing some X-Men based tv series. FF is the same except it's a far less valuable IP, it doesn't even move comic books.

Big Hero 6 is in KH3. Possible they'll be in MvC4?

I'm quite happy with the cast being DC/DC related. I always "liked" Marvel vs Capcom, but if I wanted to play as the Capcom side, it always made more sense to just play their game. I did enjoy Capcom vs SNK more than Marvel vs Capcom.
