And that's not even the best gag of this episode.

There's just something about 22 Short Films about Springfield that I really enjoyed. Maybe it's because we actually see the stories and lives of the background characters while the main cast is still at the forefront.

This reminds me of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Did anyone else wonder what was going on in Ferris' high school and what sort of things they missed out on? There was a Hey Arnold episode where the kids played hookey while the school had a carnival.

I doubt it, but did anyone think the move was going to be permanent? I could see being the season premiere of a late season and everyone saying goodbye tricking some people.

Season 8 of The Simpsons is by far the darkest and zaniest season of the show up to that point, but it was still funny and still had a heart, so it didn't suck one large ball just yet.

Al Jean has always been apart of the Simpsons as long as I can remember, but he took full responsibility as showrunner from season 14 and onwards. i don't remember season 14 being that bad, but i guess after some years he and the rest of the writers just stopped caring and trying gimmicky stuff to get people watching instead of actually being funny
Simpsons needs a rotation of showrunners if you ask me, like every couple seasons they should put a new guy in charge, just to spice things up. but Fox doesn't nearly care enough since the Simpsons keeps making money
