>>87988865
And that's not even the best gag of this episode.
There's just something about 22 Short Films about Springfield that I really enjoyed. Maybe it's because we actually see the stories and lives of the background characters while the main cast is still at the forefront.
This reminds me of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Did anyone else wonder what was going on in Ferris' high school and what sort of things they missed out on? There was a Hey Arnold episode where the kids played hookey while the school had a carnival.
I doubt it, but did anyone think the move was going to be permanent? I could see being the season premiere of a late season and everyone saying goodbye tricking some people.
>>87988903
Yeah, sometimes I've liked the townspeople better than the Simpsons family, a shame an episode like that couldn't work again today.
>>87988956
I got tricked by that TOH episode about Burns getting his head attached to Homer thinking it was permanent because of that fake preview.

He was supposed to be Hank Scorpio, but that was just one of many, MANY callbacks to the show that were removed because executives didn't want casuals getting confused.

It's better this way. Scorpio, like Carl, does not deserve to be dredged up like that.

>>87990249
season 8 and 9 aren't bad
season 10 is when Scully era when it starts to go to shit, but i would say 11 is the point of no return
so that means approximately 200 episodes of quality
say what you will about the simpsosn having more bad episodes than good, but 200 is a damn fine number of good episodes
especially when you compare it to other long running cartoons that have gone past 100 episodes
Spongebob, FoP, and Family Guy can't compare

Cute, but I'm pretty sure I have an objective understanding of what's funny and what isn't funny, and what can never be funny. What are your credentials? I've performed over 20 stand-up gigs in the course of my research. Have you ever actually analyzed the structure of a joke? Have you written a joke? I've done that. Who are you to criticize me for my learned opinions? Sure, some guy in an asylum might laugh at this movie, and at the guards, and at a fly on the wall. Does that make it funny?
This episode is not funny. The episode will never be funny.
>>87990546
So you are autistic. Sorry
>>87990546
>I'm pretty sure I have an objective understanding of what's funny and what isn't funny, and what can never be funny.

>>87990484
>season 8 and 9 aren't bad
I agree, there's some memorable episodes in there
>>87990613
Yeah, but you've gotta agree that it's where it started to go down hill. Granted, down hill from golden age Simpsons is still funny, but you can see it slipping. There's gotta be some kinda chart that shows the correlation between guest stars and show quality because it really stands out to me.
>"Faster, Grandpa! Grandma's gaining on us!"
What did he mean by this?
I wish they actually animated the barrage of baseballs stuff.
>>87990702
There's also the increasing gore and injuries homer suffers and how much of an ass he becomes.
>>87990716
It's actually "Faster, Grandma! Grandma's gaining on us!"
Because the movie is called Too Many Grandmas!
>>87990441
It suppose to be a joke to Caddyshack and other collage movies that usually end a party.
Oh nice, its the burlesque house episode.
Season 8 is a top tier season, Season 9 is where the decline starts. Season 10 is still pretty good. Season 11 is where the suck starts but it still has a few good episodes
Season 12 is the cut off where the show drops off forever.

Way to be a little bitch, Skinner.
>>87991163

I like the slowness of these threads to be honest.

Because 90% of the golden episodes every loves has already aired. And there isn't as much hype on /co/ for this marathon probably cause of the 2014 marathon.
>>87991163
That too.
>tfw when you realize this episode predicts lesbian patty
>Cypress hill with an orchestra
Holy shit that sounds good
>>87991354
I feel like it has been foreshadowed quite a bit. Even in the older episodes at this point it was weird seeing her interact with men since in my mind she was a lesbian.
>>87991454
They practically spelled it out, in THOH III Homer was running around the house naked from the Krusty doll and when she saw him she said "Well, there goes the last thread of my heterosexuality"
Ready to borrow a feeling /co/?
THEY'RE STILL PLAYING PICTIONARY YOU FUCKS
Was this the first sign of jumping the shark?
>>87991454
>>87991510
Yeah, people like to exaggerate shit when talking about the new seasons (not that they actually need to considering how dumb things can get, but they still do), and THEY MADE PATTY AND SELMA LESBIANS comes up a lot.
Sounds shocking and wrong considering most people's minds will go to all the failed romances Selma's had, but when you realize it's only Patty and consider those jokes and the fact that in the one episode where she's dating a guy it says she chooses to be celibate, suddenly it's not that much of a leap at all.
Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know.
>>87991786
So that's it after 20 years; so long, good luck?
Reminder to any Bob's Burgers fans in here
regular FOX is fucking the show over by sticking a new episode on in fifteen minutes sandwiched between an otherwise rerun Sunday night lineup because of thanksgiving/this marathon

Eh, that guy might've been Luann's uncle.
I suppose he should've came up with a better reason to fire Kirk but honestly, who the hell cares, it's just a joke.
>>87991988
Maybe, but the episode makes it clear that Kirk only got the job because of Luann and it also makes it clear he sucked at his job anyway.
Aw, that made me tear up a little, mainly because I didn't see the second proposal coming.
>we'll never be like kirk and luann

How did you ever graduate from high school? TBS has also aired Married... With Children reruns for years and will probably never stop. Like AMC and the Three Stooges it will be a early morning staple for eternity.

With a family like that, it probably is.
>all these great episodes
How did it fall so far? Who left the show? It had to be some group leaving, good writers just don't shit the bed as hard as the Simpsons has.
>>87996742
The article was about Everybody Loves Raymond, so I'm not sure why you'd think it would mention MWC.
As for Raymond

Enjoy being wrong. I'm sure you're used to it by now.
Season 8 of The Simpsons is by far the darkest and zaniest season of the show up to that point, but it was still funny and still had a heart, so it didn't suck one large ball just yet.
>>87996899
>2013
Any proof that it's still on TBS?
>>87996871
Scully was in charge for season 11-13
Al Jean has always been apart of the Simpsons as long as I can remember, but he took full responsibility as showrunner from season 14 and onwards. i don't remember season 14 being that bad, but i guess after some years he and the rest of the writers just stopped caring and trying gimmicky stuff to get people watching instead of actually being funny
Simpsons needs a rotation of showrunners if you ask me, like every couple seasons they should put a new guy in charge, just to spice things up. but Fox doesn't nearly care enough since the Simpsons keeps making money
I based my life on this song.
>>87996742
They'll stop some day, I mean, they aired Saved by the Bell for like 20 years and just stopped a year or two ago.

>Simpsons needs a rotation of showrunners if you ask me, like every couple seasons they should put a new guy in charge, just to spice things up. but Fox doesn't nearly care enough since the Simpsons keeps making money
That's how it used to work and it kept the show interesting.

I'm the guy who originally said TBS was a comedy network and I know you're just trying to be all ironic like, "This show isn't funny therefore this network makes no sense" but the fact of the matter is the show is a sitcom, along with pretty much 90% of the rest of its available timeslots. Their slogan is "Very Funny" as well.
The only thing weird is they're showing more and more interest in esports of all things (Probably because Big Bang Theory reruns do well enough and the market is wide open for all dem nerd bux). I feel like they maybe trying to transition into a weird g4-like channel.

No, it was already declining when it died, and it ended on a great finale. Let it rest.

>BIZ ZAY
>buzzwords are for dumb people to sound important

>>87997425
Modern Simpsons isn't exactly as good as ever, though. It's more than stale, it's actively gimmicky and poorly written. Animation sucks now too, it almost looks like Family Guy.

YEAH THAT'S IT
>>87987532

>>87997309
If in a few years Matt Groening, David, X Cohen, etc. came back and said "Hey, we have new ideas and the voice actors want to reprise their roles once more" I wouldn't have an issue.
But it would seriously be hard to beat Meanwhile as a finale. So perhaps it is best it ended on such a high note.
But I still miss the characters, setting, and antics.
Note: Pucci died on the way back to Heaven

He's liked a few girls. And he wants to be a father later in life(If you go by the one future episode).
Maybe he'd have some phase in his teens or twenties, but I think overall he's straight.
I don't get why Homer is so concerned in this episode. It never really comes up again and he generally seems to just want to see his kids happy.
>>87998224
>I don't get why Homer is so concerned in this episode
It's because the show has always been le current year guys.
You and Marge ain't cousins, are ya?
>>87998224
He became a male stripper in one of them and most of them are gay but I'm fine with adult Bart having zero sex drive because he's so lazy/low on testosterone.
>Jeff Ross roasts prisoners
>its been years since i saw you!
Oh great, a Bob episode. Seriously my favorite Simpsons character.
I saw La Cage on Broadway and Kelsey Grammer was the lead, there was some kind of difficulty that halted the show so Kelsey was talking with the audience. I told him I thought Sideshow Bob was great and he said "The Simpsons? Eeeaaauuughhh..." in Bob's voice.
It was a neat experience.
>>87998584
>even Kelsey Grammer hates modern Simpsons
>>87998440
That one was on last night. Forgot about it for a second.
Although I think Bart would look better than that. If he was going to be a stripper, he wouldn't halfass it. Not sure what guy he would ever be with though.
>>87998672
That'd explain why he's barely in the new episodes.
>>87998672
At least he can carry the episodes he's in. If I hear he's going to be in an upcoming episode- I'll at least try to watch it or find his clips online later.
>they didn't make Bob's entire family the cast of Fraiser
Oh yeah. Shake it, Madam. Capital knockers!
>you only get once chance with edna krabappel
>she's the loosest woman in the show
Is that a FAMAS?
Poor Bob
He actually gets a family and happy life and still gets shit on. He only reverts back to trying to kill after that stuff is jeopardized.
Wow so Bob goes back to jail for actually no reason? That's some pretty shitty writing for Season 8 desu.
>>87998970
It does seem kind of messed up that Bart and Lisa wouldn't show up to the trial later on and at least try to defend him. Even though they really wouldn't have evidence beyond their testimony. Unless there were cameras in the dam.
Ayyy Baltimore shout out

who gets an 8 year old to baby sit a 10 year old (Flanders apparently)

>>87999331
Last marathon was just 2 years ago, and watching every simpsons ever kinda lost some of its novelty. Also the last marathon was shown in August at a period where everyone can sit down and watch it. This is shown during Thanksgiving Week/Black Friday weekend where everyone is with their families out shopping etc. Dumb planning on FXX's part.
>>87999376
