Dunno, I liked it way better than any Marvel movie since Avengers.
It had character, it had memorable scenes and music, it had some serious dramatic moments, it didn't rely so much on comedy but it still was there to be enjoyable.
I don't get why the critics were so harsh on it when it wasn't a step down from DoFP, and in fact I'd say they were similar. It's plain insulting it has a worse rating than Last Stand.

I understand your point it's just that given how much Stryker had a hateboner for mutants, it felt very natural. They def should have explained it in-movie, but I wasn't surprised at all. Havoc dying was a good thing because he was older than Cyclops, while it should have been the opposite, so it felt a little like losing some of the baggage.

The thing is, while Apocalypse has many flaws, it was a huge relief for me as a movie, because it set the X-Men on the right path. Now, I am more worried about the Shi'ar X-Men movie

I think that has to do with them making like Last Stand doesn't exist either, what with that line when they come out of the movie.

Also, one of my main complaints was that Apocalypse just stood around for half of the second and most of the third act, and then left Magneto to do most of the heavy lifting while he was standing around tanking everything like nothing.

It was so empty. Nothing much happened of value, Apocalypse got his horsemen, then there was a fight scene and things went back to the way they were. It kind of made the movie feel pointless to me.

X-men apocalypse was just plain bad, I watched it with low expectations and still didn't enjoy it. Half of the cast can't act, with jlaw seemingly not acting on purpose. Apocalypse was a terrible villain, his speeches were uninspired and lacked charisma, the director was clearly relying on the sound affects rather than the words. Not only does he not use his power to his actual potential, but he's not imposing or threatening at all, he's a complete manlet rather than a giga nigga. He's the thanos equivalent for X-men, a character that they cannot possibly beat alone. The intro scene shows apocalypse getting beaten by humans fairly easily, if he's so powerful how come he couldn't prevent this? Why was he only in Egypt? They should have done a lotr style intro showing him as the god of several religions.
Magneto as a subordinate of Apocalypse doesn't work, it doesn't fit his character, and the rest of the horsemen were useless, they didn't even show them being good people beforehand. Apocalypse didn't even call Warren Archangel for fucks sake. Hell, he doesn't NAME ANY OF HIS HORSEMEN. The fight choreography in the finale was terrible, there's no sense danger or tension, It could have ended if Jean just used her powers at the beginning. True that would be bad film wise, but what we got instead isn't any better. The wolverine and quicksilver scenes were good, although the latter clearly doesn't hold some peoples heads during his gottagofast phase.

pretty much all the x men films are objectively either boring or plain bad with a few exceptions.

the mcu fails at just about every film making standard possible bar their structure, which they have a major hold over the other studios.a few can be watched as good entertainment, but for the most part they fail to even be a good adaptation of the source material.

DC just needs a better team of editors and for studio execs to stop meddling with the film and release them as the directors originally intend for them to be.

I didn't like the movie either, and I agree with the rest of your points, but this one scene was actually pretty good IMHO. It showed Apocalypse getting sealed by an overly complicated plan that relied on years of preparation(to make the hole as deep as it was), and acting with great risk on the single moment of Apoc's vulnerability.

Another thing that the movie failed to explain(because it didn't even try to) was what was up with that small black piramid somehow doing whatever it was it did with the sun rays. They didn't even go the "it's magic, I aint' gotta explain shit" route.

Saw it 3 days ago when I realized I still hadn't bother to watch it yet. (They removed Jubilee being adorable when the promo material made me think she actually had a decent part in the film. That is a crime punishable by death)
The first half was actually amusing/good since I could see/analyze that it was clearly written to be a Shadow King movie.
The second half went into a retarded train wreck as everything crashed together and went into these writers are stupid right about the time it's revealed that Apocalypse gets to keep mutant powers when he body hops.
The mystique actress pissed me off since she spent 90% of the movie as herself when her character's defining trait is that she is a shapeshifter that's disguised as anyone. At that point you might as well just get a bunch of people to do 30 second cameos to play the role of Mystique. When she actually had a blue costume on it looked horribly fake somehow but that may be more due to the terrible design of movie mystique compared to comics Mystique.

Angel, Storm and Psylocke had no development with Psylocke not really demonstrating much reason why she'd be a more ideal pick than enslaving Caliban into horsemanship. Or Nightcrawler. Kurt in the movies is ridiculously OP. Olivia munn landing on the ground is comedy gold. I'm not sure how that military plane was supposed to survive planet sided magnets of doom or how all tech didn't die from the massive emp blast of every nuke going going off at once. It was just a massive science failure at even comic book science.
