Please don't make it into /gfg/-tier levels of speculah; indeed the show may have "lore", but as a scene from The Roots say: "don't think about it too much". The way I see it, most of the flashbaks/backstories in the show are simply devices for laughs and aren't meant to be taken seriously.

It seems like they're planning a "go into the real world" bit that The Simpsons kind of did with that Treehouse of Horror episode, but with the characters looking like their assigned object/design rather than traversing the real world as they do in Elmore. Maybe accepting their amazing world is better than the world that's watching them, something like that.

I don't think he's too off the mark. The majority of children dislike Nicole and a lot of degenerates like her hooked up with Gumball.

That being said, most of the main/recurring cast is generic (in terms of animal/object) sans a few designs and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Being able to recognize characters quickly is important, even if it's things blue cat, paper bear, or talking balloon.

I think I figured out the painting.

The wattersons seem to cause nothing but chaos and mayhem for everyone. The Season 5 finale will have the world deem all of the Wattersons to be mistakes and send them all to The Void, since they cause nothing but trouble for almost everyone they encounter.

It all makes sense now.

Fourth wall gets broken, and everything is revealed to be a cartoon. That explains the age nonsense, the "GUmballs entire life is fictional" and all that other stuff

The cancellation ends the show, and as a result, the entire world of Elmore gets sucked into The Void along with all the other mistakes that the world is trying to forget
