Star vs Forces of Evil is getting two things (unless, of course, the people in charge are literal retards)

1. Continuity, and not the shit Adventure Time "Lol everything resets now and then" continuity more Grav falls/SU continuity to support deeper plotlines

2. Darker themes and more relationship related plotlines.


Disney needs to boost ratings and establish a continual fanbase, the "luhlsorandumb" of the first season didn't do much for the show, they'll take a few pointers from contemporary shows and start delving deeper for those views.

Mark my words, it's wither the above or cancellation.

They're already doing those things; they started showing up around the midpoint of the first season but by then the first ~5-ish episodes had turned enough people off that it had a reputation as lolrandom plotless comedy for longer than it deserved.

It does get ratings that look bad compared to other shows, but it's on a channel not included in basic cable and is typically the highest rating show on that channel.

It's already renewed for a season 3 (with this season having been worked on for half a year already), so even if it does get canceled then, literally why does it matter. Still a longer run than other contemporary Disney cartoons, which is surprising considering how in 2014 /co/ was expecting to fail miserably.

Thats the problem with AT and why I don't follow it so closely anymore. They want to have these epic plot-lines but they retcon any impact they have out of the series.

Storm the Castle could've worked well enough as an ending (in an alternate universe where it only got one season) if the ominous talk about the cleaved wand in the last minute of the episode was hastily replaced with Star's parents saying they were proud of her or Star and Marco being besties or something

That's not to say that would be totally satisfying, but there was at least some sense of conclusion (new wand, Marco's okay, Star realizes monsters aren't all 1-dimensional evil, both villains gone for now). Guess Miss Heinous would still be at large but that ending could have been changed in post or something, once they knew of the renewal.

Star leaves her friends on Earth to return to Mewnie at the behest of her mother. In her last minutes on Earth, Star bids her friends farewell. Janna attempts to remain stoic but is sniffling and sobbing by the time Star steps through the portal. Furgeson and Alfonzo are there but do not say anything. Jackie is there as well and tells Star to be careful and come back and visit, to which Star says nothing in return.

Finally, Marco steps up to Star and admits how much he will miss her, and how much he and everyone else has changed since Star came to Earth. Star will smile and agree that she has had so much fun on Earth and will miss everyone, especially Marco. They will hug and Star will begin to step into the portal. Before she is through Marco will remove his hoodie and give it to Star. Star happily accepts the hoodie, but her happiness is soon checked as Jackie comes over to put her arm around Marco's shoulder to console him as he's on frayed nerves now.

Everyone waves goodbye and Star turns away with tears welling and leaves for Mewnie.

On Mewnie, with Glossaryck captured by Ludo, Star begins training under her mother’s tutelage. This goes off like oil and water. Star tries in earnest to learn from the Queen, but Moon’s studious methods are boring Star and her impetuous nature is causing mounting tension.
Her father, King River, is leading the hunt for Ludo and the Spellbook. River takes to this like a fish to water and is soon routing monsters at every turn. This sudden surge in aggression Mewnan causes the Monsters to begin to ally themselves. Bufffrog leads some of the resistance but as Ludo’s legend begins to spread more nefarious and powerful monsters flock to his ranks.
Star’s training continues to falter in the castle, and her mother is increasingly impatient with her daughter. It will be Ponyhead that convinces Star to run away and go find Glossaryck and the spell book on her own.

Star escapes the palace. However, before she leaves she goes through an impractical list of supplies she will need for her quest. Star picks up the bag of “necessities” and her wand. She is about to leave when she turns around to see Marco’s red hoodie hung over a chair, she gently walks over to it, picks it up and lovingly rubs her cheek against it. Tying it around her waist she then makes her way out into the wilds of Mewnie.

Moon discovers her daughter missing the next day and commands that a search party go and find her as soon as possible. If Glossaryck can be captured by a miscreant like Ludo what chance does Star have?! However, River believes that Star needs time to discover herself and certainly needs time away from Moon, who is driving everyone “coo-coo birds.”

A death glare from Moon convinces River that yes a search party should be rounded up. Unbeknownst to Moon, River gathers members of the Johansen clan to go after Star, to not bring her back but to make sure that she is safe. A pack of eager and rambunctious Viking louts tear off after the Princess with tremendous gusto and in surprising secrecy.

Why is star ruining things now

There is logically only one person Star can trust right now, even if she is as her father would say “coo-coo birds” and that’s Mina Loveberry. Star sets off across Mewnie, not using the dimensional scissors as they might tip off her mother as to where she is. On the way she will witness how the other half lives, the monsters of Mewnie, how they long for corn and live in fear of Mewnan magic and might.

Star encounters one of her father’s hunting parties making sport of a band of defenless Monsters. Star can’t intervene or she’ll be discovered by the Mewnans in the hunting pack. Just as the Mewnan thugs are closing in on the monsters, a fantastic explosion of purple magic bursts from the clearing and there between the Mewnan and Monsters is Mina Loveberry.

The Mewnans beat a hasty retreat after Mina gives them the business. Star bursts into the clearing excited to see her idol back to being a hero, however not much has changed for Mina but she does have purpose again in defending these poor monsters from those awful bullies.

Monsters have been flocking to Mina for protection, Mina invites Star back to her camp where Star sees hundreds of monster families have established a hold out. Mina puts Star to work caring for the monsters, handing out food building shelters, and generally doing things that make Star think of others, rather than herself.

Who is Big Daddy!? Star is led by Mina to a cave near the encampment where she hears hushed voices talking, as Mina pulls the curtain aside and there looking over a map of Mewnie is Yvgeny Bulgoyaboff, Buff Frog. Buff Frog is elated to see Star and rushes over to embrace her. Seeing her in the red hoodie, Buff Frog asks “Where is Karate Boy?” Star meekly answers that she doesn’t know, sadness washing over her. Mina interrupts and begins to introduce the rest of the team. They are Boo Fly, Dogbull and the Porcupine Monster and the Turtle Bird Monster from “On the Job.”

Given that the monsters can’t read or write the planning has mostly been arguing and humoring Mina. Still Buff Frog gives some insight on what has been happening in Mewnie. Most of the information he relates is how Glossaryck is running Ludo in circles and driving him mad with riddles, to which Star laughs, “Good old Glossaryck.” Beyodn that they explain that Mewmans have been searching all over for the spellbook, Glossaryck and Star.Buff Frog admits that the team is not comfortable with having Star in the hold out.

Mina steps in and declares heroically that this camp is for everyone in danger. Star however, admits that she willingly ran away from home. Mina admonishes star for disobeying her mother, Star has nothing to say in her defense which silences Mina. Buff Frog steps in asking what Star will do now. Star doesn’t know.

I lied about staying away from earth.

Star is allowed to stay one more night in the camp. Once Mina has gone to sleep Star begins to drift off too, in her sleep star begins to dream of Earth. Her dream follows Marco. She sees him wake up and be greeted by the laser puppies, she sees him go through a silly bathroom routine like we saw in Bon-Bon. Marco waves to Oskar on his way into school, Oskar asks him where Star’s been but Marco just says, “Uh she had to go back home.” To which Oskar says “Aw, that’s lame bro.” She sees Janna being a cut up and pulling a silly gag on Marco. Finally we see Marco approach a locker door that’s open. When it is shut there’s Jackie. She smiles, “Hey you!” she says and leans in giving Marco a sweet kiss good morning and suddenly Star is awake in a cold sweat.

“Wait, why? Won’t that destroy you too?” Star says a little sad at the idea of having to destroy her mentor.

“Star, Star.” Glossaryck replies trying to be reassuring. “When have I ever lied to you?”

Star gives him a droll look.

“Okay, true.” He sighs, “I need you to do this kiddo, I can’t keep Ludo busy for much longer, and I feel something else clawing at the book, trying to pry open my mind. Something dark. Look you’re going to need help to do this, but I know you can do it. Remember, DIP DOOWWNNN.”

Star awoke as Mina began shaking her, it was morning.
“Star, come with me.” There was an odd calm in Mina’s voice.
