This would've worked better as a TV show. The storylines they picked just lead themselves to a more serialized form of storytelling, and it would probably not having been subjected to backlash from fans of the Sam Raimi movies had it been in a different format.
For all its faults, the costume scenes are all great. truly felt like he "was" Spider-Man.
Besides, the costume is the greatest.
I don't have huge objections with the new one, but it has too many unnecessary lines.

He says too many unnecessary lines too.

It was subjected to backlash by everyone, because it's shit. Do you really think that was just Raimi fans being mad at change?
>inb4 the Raimi movies weren't good

I thought the exact same thing while watching. It's so disjointed, but could potentially work pretty well as a season storyline for a TV show.

The first one was actually moderately well-received. A lot of the hate it gets is retroactive.
That's just the nature of trying to adapt serialized stories into movies.
Electro's plot was so shallow he could have easily been a villain of the week.

And movies aren't TV shows. Things like act structures and character arcs exist for a reason, ASM2 trying to ignore all that for fanservice and world-building was unforgiveable.

Electro was the most narratively pointless villain in a comic book movie since Ben Mehndelson in TDKR. Max had no connection to the story on a narrative, character or thematic level, but since the movie needed someone for action scenes he gets an absurd amount of focus.
He was about as important as Rhino but got ten times the screen-time.
the raimi movies are the best capeshit ever made

I hated the first one, and I still hate their Lizard version. The plot with Peter's parents seemed pretty retarded, If you could pay attention to it instead of getting kicked out of being immersed in the movie by the fact that Uncle Ben had to go on like 10 minutes trying to say "with great power comes great responsability" without actually saying the lines.

It was just a bad remake of the first Raimi Spidey movie. I prefer ASM2, with all its flaws to ASM1
Garfield improved as Peter as well as Spider-man, just for the fact that he wasn't pretending to be a friendless nerd anymore.

>It was just a bad remake of the first Raimi Spidey movie.
I don't see how, barring the inherent similarities of being the same character.

No, most superhero movies follow the structure of your standard film. I genuinely haven't seen a superhero movie that felt so much like it should have been a season of a TV show. Even Spider-man 3, overstuffed as it was, felt like a movie.
