I love this moment.

Not that "haha he threw a baby" kind of love, but the way this was done in context was phenomenal. It really highlights the depravity to which Cerebus sunk in Church & State, and was truly shocking when you're first reading it. Black Noir was a clone of Homelander who was supposed to be failsafe if Homelander turned on humans. However, his mind was intentionally brainwashed by VA just to focus on his prime directive and drove him insane. The "Homelander" in the pictures making a snuff film was never the real one. It was Black Noir trying to provoke him (He was a clone so they had the same features) so that the real one would snap, turn against humanity and he could finish his mission by killing the real Homelander once gone out of control.

The first 30 or so issues of The Boys are pure edge but the way Ennis flips his own stereotypes around in every issue after that and turns it into a conspiracy potboiler is amazing.

Moore didn't seem to even know the basics of the character, which is jarring when the earlier stuff is fucking filled with lesser-known 18th century literary characters and references. Marshall Law started out with super heroism as a lie for a dirty super soldier program while some of the later comics somewhat lose self awareness and veer towards super heroes as delusional and their guy in an gimp costume being better than them. It even does the 'soldiers are the real heroes' thing (twice even, though one was in a crossover), in a universe where supers are soldiers, and their war was not heroic at all.

I recommend the ones with him going against not-superman (Public Spirit) and not-batman (Private Eye), everything else is alright but may offend those tired of mindless edgy 'superheroes suck hurr durr'.
