Well the rings
>Need intense focus, years of training, and the user must have prior knowledge/visualize the place they want to travel
While the stone
>Can instantly take you anywhere across the universe old and new if you know how to channel it, can maintain portals indefinitely if need be, and is a source of limitless energy
>>
You need to focus when you use the Rings. You also have to have the destination in your mind. It would take years of practice to get "anywhere" and it's bound by how much the user knows.

The Space Stone is "Teleport wherever I want, fuck you"
>>

>Magical device is retarded in a movie about magic
>>
>>87844606
Honestly I have no idea how long his training period was in the movie. It didn't really do a great job illustrating that.
>>
>>87845459

It's so confusing. There was an award on his shelf from 2016, indicating that his training was less than a year, but also one of the patients he rejected sounded a lot like one of the Hammer prototype pilots, which would put the beginning of the movie in 2010.
>>
>>87845430
No, the fact that it's called a "sling ring" and the fact that if you lose it, you're shit out of luck, make it retarded.

I have, thanks to your insightful comment gained new respect and admiration for this board.

I went to Strange, and I thought it was shit too.

It was just, like,
a bunch of CG.

I didn't care about the villans.
Then Strange beats the bad guy by believing in himself and pumping his own ego,

which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what the whole message to this point was.

Not only that, but the movie was a FUCKING ORIGIN STORY.
Way to treat your audience with some contempt, Marvel!

The movie was OK in 3d, but only if you miss good acid, I guess.

You know what COULD have been cool? That darkness dimension shit, that was feeding monk lady her immortality?

WHAT IF SHE NOW EXISTED AS AN EVIL ECHO IN THAT UNIVERSE!?

Now THAT would be more compelling as a villan; someone we actually have seen characterised on screen.

Not emo makeup guy and his collection of unnamed, unimportant mooks.

2008, actually. IM2 was only 6 months after IM1. And Vision states in CW that it's been eight years since Stark publicly announced himself as Iron Man.

It could just be that the government is still trying trying to reproduce an answer to Iron Man.

The answer for both of these is simple and plot convenient and canon.

People don't know how to use them right and so aren't reaching the full potential like they'll be whenever Thanos gets hold of them maybe.

>One, actually. Unless Fury was bullshitting.

What? So the Avengers happened in 2009? Guardians without a doubt happened in 2014, and since Age of Ultron happens after Guardians (Thor references the Infinity Stone from the movie),that means a 6 year gap between Avengers 1 and 2?

Also means Iron Man 3 happened in christmas of 2009.

But Winter Soldier HAS to have happened in 2014, right? Especially if you consider Agents of Shield canon

So where does that leave us? Phase 1 starts in 2008, and ends in 2009,Iron Man 3 wraps up the year in Christmas 09, and then there's a 5 year gap until Winter Soldier, with Thor 2 happening at any point in between?

True, I suppose. We know that as of the events of Age of Ultron they were still looking for him. That's the latest as far as I know.

So maybe TWS happens in 2013, they start looking for him right after. Then stop their search after Sokovia and Sam is inducted into the Avengers in 2015. That's two years right there.

Upon further pondering, yeah. TWS does take place in 2013. Steve makes mention that he's 95 years old. Being that he was born in 1918, add 95 to that and you get 2013.
>>
>Using SPACE Gem to teleport
Why would you even do that? Nothing is stopping you from warping space in 5-6 dimensions of horror, to do it faster.

>>87843158

Strange is still pretty scary without items. Just not as stupidly scary as with.

The movies acknowledging events in the TV shows happening. Which they don't. The people who make the movies have zero regard for shit that happens in the TV shows. I forget who it was, but someone who's a bigwig in Marvel or maybe it was a producer for one of the shows said that characters who appear in the TV shows will pretty much never appear in the movies.

>That's something you just made up though.

But I didn't. I've been using the term for months now.
>>
>>87848346
>characters who appear in the TV shows will pretty much never appear in the movies.
Objectively false, he must have meant TV actors will never appear in the movies. There have been characters like Lady Sif, Doctor List of HYDRA, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and President Ellis who appeared in the movies, appeared in the show, and then appeared in the movies again.
>>
>>87848385
>I've been using the term for months now.
Then it's something someone not involved with Marvel made up months ago.
>>
>>87848395

What's the difference? Bottom line it basically confirms that Daredevil, Luke Cage and the AoS original characters will never appear in the MCU.

I've only ever seen it used to refer to the Marvel TV shows.
>>
>>87848522
>Bottom line it basically confirms that Daredevil, Luke Cage and the AoS original characters will never appear in the MCU.
Why would you want them to? They're actors that were cast on a TV budget. It's still the same canon though, because the characters all inhabit the same world.
>I've only ever seen it used to refer to the Marvel TV shows.
I just looked it up, and the only times I've seen it used were by Reddit users who were immediately corrected that there is nothing, according to Marvel, called the "MTVU". It's all part of the same universe, Earth-199999.

>I ordered one today
Wuuuuuuut? Is it any good looking? Eh, I suppose you won't really know that until it arrives.
>>
>>87848699
No, they were first introduced in a comic leading up to the movie but that basically means they were made FOR the movie.
>>
>>87848615
>Why would you want them to?
I don't. But seemingly a lot of other people do.

>It's still the same canon though, because the characters all inhabit the same world.
Except the movies (or the people who make them at the least) refuse to acknowledge that and have no problem with contradicting events established in the TV shows. Even if it hasn't been officially stated yet, the TV shows, for better or worse, are effectively a separate canon from the movies.
>>
sling rings can only transport a single person, and are presumably powered by an individuals energy, and they require visualization of a destination, so while you coudl travel to places on earth you havent been to, you could have seen them in a magazine, you probably couldnt travel to saturn or pluto

the Cube has unlimited energy, can open a portal of any size, for any period of time, and can travel from earth to asgard, or from earth to the chi-tauri dimension, the sling ring is the baby version of the tesseract, easier to handle but cant trasnport an entire army, or power weapons

Its not even that.
The gem could conceivably get you to any place in the Universe where as the sling rings can only seem to take you any place on Earth.

>>
>>87848802

I've always liked to think that Sling Rings are the short range portable version of the Bifrost. Both bend space-time to create wormholes. I guess the Tesseract is just the maximum advanced version of both.

we also need to take into a few things about the infinity stone

GOTG showed that not anyone can just grab one and use it. You have be a being of enough power to control one.

Or you can be inorganic material like Ultron and just grab that shit.

GOTG almost got wrecked if it was for Quill being a half breed.

The space stone is also INSIDE the tesseract. Who knows what kind of dampening the actual cube itself is doing to the space stone.

Loki had to get Dr Selvig to build some weird machine shit that need Lokis Staff/The Mind Stone with it just to get it to make a fucking wormhole

Who knows what kind of power the space stone has without the actual cube

Since this has just devolved into an MCU Infinity Stone discussion:

What if they pull a wildcard move and reveal that Wakanda is in possession of the Soul Stone as an explanation for why they're so much more advanced than the rest of the world?
>>
>>87852235
Are they more advanced?
We barely saw any of the actual Wakanda society.
And they're black.
>>
>>87852235
The OP mentioned Infinity Stones. This was always an MCU Infinity Stone discussion pretty much.

I also don't know how being in possession of Soul stone would make them advanced.

Also I think it would be.. wrong. I can't find the proper word for it. But it would kind of belittle what a great nation Wakanda is and how it came to be. It's not magic that made it great, its isolation, its a great location on top of great resources, strong and intelligent warriors and leaders, and afaik a policy of not attacking first.
>>

>>87852235
>Allows the user to steal, control, manipulate, and alter souls, living or dead, and is the gateway to an idyllic pocket universe that is much like Heaven
If they want to do the whole Necropolis angle with T'Challa, the soul gem would be a semi-decent route to get there.
>>
>>87852338
The stones / gems have always been extremely powers full.
The movies imply they were first used by the Celestials and their technology, atleast in the comics, is absurdly advanced so it makes sense that Loki, humans, etc... would need devices to make them work even a little.
>>
>>87852342
I didn't think of that. It makes a sort of sense I suppose but it still feels like it'd shit all over Thor's whole deal.

Wakanda has always been decades ahead of everyone else. They're just dicks to foreigns and wont share the cure for cancer
>>
Wakanda's whole deal is being very technologically advanced. Hell in the comics Wakanda is the place where quinjets were invented.

The most advanced place in the US is probably Stark/Avengers Tower at the moment. And that's just one building. Imagine a whole city of that.

Oh, and maybe the former S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ where they built the helicarriers in DC.

I don't have the pic, but basically each gem is tied to an object that ends up spelling "THANOS".

>Tesseract = Space
>H????? = Soul(maybe Heimdall, since he can see all the souls in the universe)
>Aether = Reality
>Necklace(Eye of Agamotto) = Time
>Orb = Power
>Staff = Mind

I'm cautiously hype for Ragnarok, having Thor, Hulk and Strange in the same movie, plus it being the final movie before the first Infinity one should set up some last loose ends before the big fight. Although I think there's still GOTG, which may be used to present Adam Warlock, since his cocoon was already shown torn, which means he's dicking around somewhere in the MCU.

>And only the third Avengers movie is called Infinity War, fourth doesn't have a known title yet because they said to reveal now would spoil.

Not exactly, they just dropped the Part 1 and 2 shit, the 3rd movie is setting up Thanos, and the 4th one is the final fight against him. And probably his Black Order, to replace the faceless army, and don't have all of the MCU characters go against him at the same time.

Hate to break it to you champ, but Warlock's cocoon was literally an accident. They admitted they just pulled it from the comics because it looked cool to have in the collection and didnt realize what it was until after. But hey its not like these things are set in stone so they may just roll with it

From Gunn himself
>"They asked me what I wanted in The Collector's scene, I flipped through a Marvel anthology book and picked out a bunch of cool things."

That's not a source faggot, give us a link or an actual source like who did the fucking interview and when.

>practically THE most important character, besides Thanos himself, from the arc they've been hyping up as an adapatation
>thinking he's not actually going to be part of it

>>87853069
That only talks about Cosmo and the dark elf, nowhere does it say that the Cocoon wasn't on purpose.

In the same way Batman is pretty worthless without his utility belt.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Guardians-Galaxy-References-Adam-Warlock-What-It-Means-68207.html

"Yeah, there’s a cocoon that’s exactly like Adam Warlock’s. I wasn’t really thinking that much when I put that in. That was my idea to put that in there. They’re like, ‘What should we put in?" So I went in the Marvel handbook and like just picked cool things that looked neat to put into the boxes. It looked like Adam’s Warlock cocoon, so now everyone thinks he’s out of there and you know… I don’t know."
>>
>>87843158
Pretty much all the "fighting" that Strange does in the movie is him casting spells on his own.
>>
>>87853199
On the one hand, that's kind of a bummer. On the other, he might've just said that to throw people off. And if he didn't, well, he saved some time for the Russos, since they're likely to introduce him, even if he doesn't play exactly the same role, just because he was important to the story. Same way Civil War was used to introduce Spidey.
>>
>>87853122
It's a little late to introduce Adam Warlock, though.

Vision could be slotted into his role easily enough. The MCU version of Vision is quite similar to him.

>It's a little late to introduce Adam Warlock, though.
Are you high? Most people didn't even know who Adam Warlock was until the Infinity Gauntlet story line and we've still got several movies before they even get to the Gauntlet.
>>
>>87853465
I think there's only two, but it could still work.

>show him as a cameo or a post-credit scene in Thor 3 or GoTG V2
>first Infinity movie rolls in
>besides showing Thanos's origin, introduce Adam as some kind of rival that's always been there, while trying to keep the lab origin in some way
>keep him like Banner, a character that kinda gets fleshed in crossover movies, but doesn't have his own one

It's not that hard.
>>
>>87853432
If the MCU has taught us anything, it's that they can introduce characters who were previously literally who-tier with relatively little lead-in or explanation and audiences will happily eat it up.
>>
>>87853550
Thor 3 could have someone having a premonition about "Him" and GotG V2 could have a credits scene where they find his new cocoon or something and then he hatches in the first Gauntlet movie.
There are lots of ways it could work. Its really just a lot of speculation at this point.

I like it, I absolutely love it when b-list heroes go mainstream, they finally get the respect they deserve
>>
>>87853550
Four.
GotG, Spiderman, Thor, BP.
But they are for sure not going to introduce in GotG and Spider-Man.
So that leaves Thor and BP.

>>87853595
Good. I never really cared for F4 or X-Men very much honestly.
>>
Apparently according to casting calls, Magus will be in Infinity War. So that means Adam Warlock is all but confirmed to show at some point then or before. I'd wager he doesn't make an appearance until a post-credit somewhere or IW itself.
