Well, there's a good ration of plain women with hot and ussually supernatural guys in more female oriented media. You can argue that more often than not those women aren't ugly or fat, but 1) it's very rare to see a fat or ugly nerd in the reverse situation and 2) women wouldn't project themselves into ugly characters anyway, maybe into fat ones just for body positivity but deep down they want to be hot as much as we want to be alpha.
