There, now you don't need Lois to step in as Batman still gets the emotional gut punch of seeing him stop another person from trying to help their own family.

Because they spent the whole movie showing how batman was determined to stop superman only to have him stop because he realizes that their moms have the same name. That makes no fucking sense and it is completely absurd.

The whole challenge of the movie is to justify the conflict between batman and superman, since they're generally depicted as being allies. At the very least, they wouldn't consider each other enemies typically. The film then spends 2 hours showing us how batman is ready to take out superman, which was not an easy decision to make, only to have batman stop because of a name. Seriously? I mean, the movie as a whole was pretty dumb in general but that scene made me throw my hands up in the theater.

There's not that much to get. Their moms have the same name, they used that to bond and finally stop demonizing each other. Not a bad idea in general. But the idea doesn't excuse the awful execution and dialogue of this scene, or generally forced fight and motivations that lead to this point in the first place.

At absolute most they should've only had a small scuffle the first time they met. They then begrudgingly put aside their differences and mistrust to work together when they realize they're both actually trying to stop the same bad guy. Why not? Everything is about his parents to him. He's been having perpetual nightmares since they died decades ago he's crafted his life around them, it makes sense that he'd give pause when Clark coincidentally said something that hit too close and he thought it meant something else. However it was awkwardly done in "you're killing Martha" since that didn't really sound how a person would talk but having him stutter out "save Martha Kent" while he was being beaten to death atleast sounds closer to how someone would talk. Just draw it out long enough so that there's time for Bruce to believe it might be Martha Wayne he's talking about.

See the problem with that it either still begs the question of how he doesn't figure out Superman's secret identity despite having vastly more time resources and opportunities than Lois, who figures it in like six months, or it once again contradicts what Snyder himself apparently said.

The entire conflict hinges on Batman being myopic enough to think certain people don't exist and the reasoning for his myopia is that he doesn't want to hurt the exact people he's being myopic enough to not think exists. It's circular and dowrnight stupid logic no matter how you slice it.

Still a riot that he could hear lois in danger and rescue her. But not hear his mother being kidnapped AND transported.

That's an entirely unrelated argument that the movie does very little to even address, which is another problem.

The fact of the matter is that yes, this interpretation of Superman is fucking scary and there ARE good reasons to want to have a way to kill him just in case. But they never bother exploring that to its fullest.
