There is one thing I never understood. When people say a costume comes off as too Japanese or too Western. Since OP has Hurricane Polymer in his post, I will use him as a example. What is it about his design that is Japanese? I mean both heroes east and west wear bodysuits and have strong yet slightly sleek designs?

Yes, all the time :(. Helmets are the safest way to fight crime, I assume. At least until someone steps on your head and turns your helmet into a bear trap for your skull.
