Which Superman do you prefer? The one with insecurities and hopes and dreams, or the one that punches the sun and makes it explode?
those arent mutually exclusive caracteristics

Even goofy silver age Superman has insecurities and hopes and dreams. Grant Morrison in Super Gods Talks about how Silver Age Superman comics were basically "psycho dramas for children". He'd constantly struggle to hide his identity or encounter things his powers couldn't beat or lose his powers or get turned into a lion and have to make the best of things.
I remember Otton Binder got real twilight zone with a few stories, like one where he's flung into the future where everyone he knows is dead and Earth is an amusement park populated by robot of Lois and Jimmy and Perry and everyone he ever knew, or the one where space robot make Earth into a a paradise but exile Superman because he's not needed anymore on a world without problems.
The "he was just a big guy the punched weird stuff with no character" doesn't explain why he was selling multi series in the fifties on into the eighties while dozens of imitators struggled to keep up. Its a gross misunderstanding of the character's lasting appeal and it regurgitated by people on the internet who get salty whenever someone posts that Superman could easily beat up their favorite Shonen character.
Be informed OP, not ignorant.

Superman was the best he was in the silver age. He used to be more than a generic superhero beating up villains, unlike how he has been in the past few decades.

silver age weirdo superman rules but he's only the second best superman
this guy is the best version of the character. none of that after special shit that's ruined modern superman. he was just a tough son of a bitch that showed up and got shit done.
fleischer superman should have been the template for DCEU superman
