How does /co/ feel about this movie?
I know it got horrible reviews and people hated it, but I'll be honest, I kinda like it. It's fun and weird and bizarre. I don't know if that makes it a GOOD movie, but still.
And Monkeybone himself is a cool design.
I mean, it's a precursor to Laika, which is kind of interesting to compare. While it deserved a better reception then it had, Frasier kinda drags on his part.

who was the girl in cat make up? jesus christ did I wanted to fuck her when I saw this for the first time. Still do
I was obsessed with this movie for a while. It's got some neat stuff in it but isn't great.
Might be the only film where I don't hate Chris Kataan.

I dunno, I like Brendan Frasier. I just kinda wish the movie was more about him and Monkeybone in the land of Nightmares. THAT'S the fun part, I feel like the movie drags when he steals Stu's body.

when it first came out I thought it looked fucking retarded, and the endless marketing to us kids was so gay and made me want to avoid it
then I saw it on tv one day and it was goddamn genius. some parts of the execution weren't perfect, but the concept and the general writing and performance was top notch. Can't think of a better 'artist vs creativity' movie
I had a brief memory of catching this on tv and always remembered it but for the longest time could not remember what the movie was called or if it was even a real movie.

I'm in your boat, I like the film a lot but I kinda know its not a good film, and I wouldnt really try to show it to others. But its got some great art direction, well acted, love the music, cool ideas. But its kind of a case of the whole being less than the sum of its parts.
Similair to cool world, and I kinda feel like it shares the same fate of executive meddling leading to its mediocrity.

Exactly! That was just stupid. Also, I hate to sound like le reddit, but poor Brendan Fraser

The most 90's cast of all time.
its a vastly underrated cult movie.
When I was a kid I remember seeing a trailer of this in theaters. Something about that stop motion monkey freaked me out.
I watched the film 2 years ago to get over it, but even still just seeing that monkey gives me a sense of fear in my heart.
Which is ironic considering every other nightmare fuel in the film didn't phase me.
I guess I just have some kind of psychological fear from childhood still lingering.
