Haven't tried Countdown, but I did play the shit out of Dredd vs Death. Fanservice-wise it's grand. Props to them for taking the trouble to program all six Lawgiver rounds, even though I only ever used, like, two. Three at most. And the levels are fucking great.
Also, I love that they used the VA's from the audio novels. Toby Longworth is my absolute favorite voice for Dredd, the perfect mix of gruff badass and sleazy asshole.

The solo Anderson stories get their own books and I think the progs that are in the annuals are collected separately as well.

I dunno, I've never really read any of the novels. And yeah, Harlem Heroes in general is one of those things that has been left behind, apart from the very odd mention in Dredd strips.
As for Tempest, he was Ewing's character, so I imagine it's one of those things where once the creator left, nobody wanted to pick it back up. Shame really. It was a great strip.

There are really two answers to this
1, the geography of MC1 makes no damn sense trying to work it out will just hurt your head. It flat out ignores the existing terrain and seems to assume that everywhere is New York.
2, Yes they really did demolish the Appalachian mountains for building materials and raise the level of city bottom in areas they wanted to preserve (but that were too polluted to salvage) leaving places like old New York and Washington mutie infested nether worlds

Answer one is the one that makes the most sense in a Doylist way. Dredd's creators are british and their view of the USA was mostly just the biggest cities they saw in movies and heard about in the news. It's why Mega-City One has those huge, curved, nonsensical highways that are more Los Angeles than New York. It's a mish-mosh of metropolitan landscapes exaggerated to size, and everything else is glossed over.
Answer 2 is the best in-universe/watsonian answer to me. They *would* use mountains as building blocks, and it would explain shit like buying and importing the White Cliffs of Dover. They have no more mountains to show so they have to start bringing them over.

Each block holds at least 50,000 cits with many being even larger but lets stick with that lowest number for simplicity. So that's around 8000 blocks total spread between the 305 surviving sectors or slightly more than 26 block per sector. The city is far too large for its population. Spread them out evenly and they'd barely be in sight of one another. The current inhabited city is just leftovers amidst the ruins of what we see in that map in >>87577102 - mostly centered around Meg Central/East I'd imagine. I like the idea that there's huge swathes of ruins around now - kinda suits the Dreddwolrd ambience.

Still probably a tiny pop. density though given that the arcology-like city blocks have to be one of the efficient ways of stacking so many people into a small area - so what takes up the space?:
