Dear god just put them out of their misery already
Yes yes yes yes
i'm genuinely happy about this. i want Simpsons to have all the awards
ULLMAN SHORTS
Are they ever gonna change their designs or are they gonna be stuck looking retro forever like the Peanuts or Blondie characters? Lisa was born in like 2009 yet she looks like a 60s kid.
>>87465780
>the simpsons has already outlived many people
Next treehouse of horror though
>>87465890
>The moment you realized you have known people who were born after the Simpsons started and died before it ended.I keep looking but I can't find an image that really captures the weird empty feeling I have.
Assuming Season 30 ends in 2019,
>Bart was now born in 2009
>Lisa was now born in 2011
>Maggie was now born two years in the future
>Homer and Marge were now born in the early 80's and would have first met in the late 90's
>>87466060
Yeah, that's it.
>>87466016
Sliding timelines feel so wrong sometimes.
>soon Batman and Superman will be 90s kids
>Riley was 10 when 9/11 happened, was still 10 when Obama was made president, and yet was 10 during season 4 years after 2008
>Timmy is a 2010s kid who has a smartphone
>Bart was too young to even have lived in 1999
>Elmo is too young to see those two humans from SS get married despite being the ring bearer
>the South Park kids were born in 2006
Have you guys even read the article?
Simpsons just broke the record, Simpsons are now the Longest-Running Scripted Series. Fuck Gunsmoke.
We made history folks, a history of.....despair
>>87465756
Once Julie Kavner's voice goes Fox will try to keep it going before giving up after one season.
>>87466257
cool, they broke the record
now can they end it?
>>87466127
>>Bart was too young to even have lived in 1999
This one is the weirdest, considering Bart was a popular 90s icon.
>Stop he's already dead.jpg
who watches simspons these days? I'm asking as an europoor
Old people? but they refence stuff old people don't know nothing about
young people? young people don't watch that because it's not cool anymore.
kids? they have smartphones & tablets.
like, I'm serious. who is watching this today? even if somebody likes casual adult sitcoms, you have family guy, or south park. it's just... I don't get it. Where does this ratings come from?
>>87466329
Never. The Simpsons will outlive humanity itself and still be around to be seen by whatever species ultimately takes our place.
>>87466127
i think it's stupid that, for a show reliant on topical pop culture, they insisted on making a timeline that 'makes sense' rather than just ignoring it for comedy's sake
>>87466445

American only? Sazae-san has been around longer.
>>87466442
I don't know. Whenever you bash it there's always people supporting it. Either these people haven't seen an episode in twenty years and are thinking of the classic ones or they have terrible taste
>>87466442
>who watches simspons these days?
About 3-8 million people on average every Sunday. Or roughly 5-10% of all viewers in the US between the ages of 18-49.
If it makes you feel any better at the very least it beats Family Guy consistently, sometimes getting almost 3 times as much viewership.
Imagine that... The Simpsons not only saw the rise, fall, resurrection and slow decline of Family Guy, and will likely outlive it at this point. Family Guy is currently in its 15th season, if you're wondering.
I hope the end it on 30 because its a nice round number. If it ends on any season that doesn't end with a zero or five at this point it'll all be for naught.
>>87466016
>>Homer and Marge were now born in the early 80's and would have first met in the late 90's
Didn't that happen already?
>>87466764

Just staapphh stop goddamnit stop ;_; at least if it kept its' quality like Futurama did for 6 seasons.
>>87466773

>>87466833
They actually retconned this. They met in the 60s despite being too young for that. It's one of those nonsensical things, like how Abe is still a WW2 vet and Skinner was in Vietnam.
What are the chances that episode 666 will be a Treehouse of Horror?

>Adobe is working on a new piece of software that would act like a Photoshop for audio, according to Adobe developer Zeyu Jin, who spoke at the Adobe MAX conference in San Diego, California today. The software is codenamed Project VoCo, and it's not clear at this time when it will materialize as a commercial product. The standout feature, however, is the ability to add words not originally found in the audio file. Like Photoshop, Project VoCo is designed to be a state-of-the-art audio editing application. Beyond your standard speech editing and noise cancellation features, Project VoCo can also apparently generate new words using a speaker's recorded voice. Essentially, the software can understand the makeup of a person's voice and replicate it, so long as there's about 20 minutes of recorded speech. In Jin's demo, the developer showcased how Project VoCo let him add a word to a sentence in a near-perfect replication of the speaker, according to Creative Bloq. So similar to how Photoshop ushered in a new era of editing and image creation, this tool could transform how audio engineers work with sound, polish clips, and clean up recordings and podcasts.

Julie Kavner is the closest to death's door of the main cast and she would be really hard to replace. I mean, seriously. I have never heard a Marge impersonator that sounded remotely accurate.
>>87466833
>>87466773
They actually didn't meet in the '90s in that episode; they were just young adults then.
Since Homer and Marge are supposed to be in the 36-40 range (it fluctuates), there would've been about a decade we didn't see after their high school years before Marge got pregnant and they got married. The episode was supposed to take place somewhere in that time, and was set in the '90s because that's when they would've been in their twenties based on the sliding timeline.
I'm not at all trying to defend the episode, since it was like from 2007 or 2008 and I can guarantee without even lookng that no Simpsons episodes that aired then were good, but yeah. Simpsons is dumb, but it didn't try to blatantly say HAHA THEIR ORIGINAL MEETING NEVER HAPPENED, at least not in that way.
If you want to be cynical you can say the show has always retconned itself each year, as no one ages and things were contradicted even when it was at its peak, so if anything the whole sliding timescale fuckery is in the spirit of the show. Bart and Lisa of 1995 probably wouldn't even remember Christmas 1989, and so on.
The real issue here is the fact that the show's still on the air, which was also the issue about 20 years ago.

I mean 30 is a nice round number. Lord knows we've seen there's some tensions with the va's and fox. Fox may want more simpsons, but the VA's will ask too much and they'll be at an impasse: continue a show with even less passion and effort, or just fucking end it with a shamelessly overhyped finale to milk whatever ad-potential it has left to the final second. Then they can overcharge for a 30 season complete blu-ray set. I think that's fair.
