I'm bored, let's enjoy some good old fashioned suffering together! Courtesy of IPC's Valiant with 'The Potters of Poole Street'.
>>87453922
Cool.
>>87454282
Bump
>>87454255
3 quid is 3 quid, no more and sure as hell no less. Good on Alfie, reckless as that was.
>>87454298
Danke, hope you're enjoying it.
>>87454363
This
>>87454546
By God that laddie sure is a mint help to others.
>>87454676
Aw shit.
>>87454692
Aye, that's how the book goes.
>>87454952
That rock's gonna' roll isn't it?
>>87454011
If the furniture is getting fucking repo'd, perhaps Alfie's old man wasn't such a good provider in the first place.
>>87454056
>>87455439
A spud-faced little lad with a heart of gold.
>>87454148
>work two days a week
>get sick from being "overworked"
>>87455552
Anyway, that's it, thanks for your time!
>>87455552
And everything turned out nice again!
Thanks for the storytime. Any clue who wrote/drew this?
From a previous valiant storytime
the end
Thanks for posting that anon. The artwork is great and the story is bloomin compelling.
>>87456005
This
>>87455641
Glad you liked it, honestly I couldn't tell you who wrote/drew this. The artist is familiar, I can tell you that.

>>87455912
Ah, good old Moll Moonlight, what a cutie.
>>87456005
Cheers.
>>87456044
Okay, how about a Jack O'Justice story then?
>>87456044
Cute
>>87456399
Sure
Cheers lads.I really should storytime Battle! or something like that in the future, or Warlord.
>>87456777
Cool
>>87456777
Fuck yeah, Battle!
Also, OP, what do you think about Rebellion's purchase of the old archives? Have you seen the pics of the moving?
>>87457160
No, not at all sadly. I'm not super up to speed with comics as much as I'd like to be. Plus work and real life gets in the way of things. That said, let's have some more Jack and Moll.I'm skipping Jack O'Justice and the Phantom of Greystone Grange, because it has a rather embarrassingly stereotypical depiction of a black character.
>>87455339
It's the 60s in Britian, no one could afford real furniture
Another thilling case solved!
>>87457943
Brilliant! Thanks a ton. Also, here: http://www.2000adonline.com/post/931
Check out what two decades of comics history look like.
>>87458147
Oh my word.
I do hope they made tradebacks of all these, uncut (except for the ads, though there were more than a few good ones).
>>87458194
I'm sure it'd be a trademark nightmare, but a Great Book of 60s and 70s Comic Book Ads would be fun as hell.
>>87458370
Quite
Time for some late Valiant with One-Eyed Jack.
>>87461078
Thanks
>>87459795
One last bump
>>87454676
Oh for fuck's sake
>>87455407
Breaking and entry is just a teeny little bit more serious than shoplifting, Alfie lad.
>>87455552
Ee by gum he got the bike in the end!
Anyone else fap to these threads? The women are pretty good.
>>87464388
Unusual, but they're certainly a more realistic option to the usual fare that people shoot their bolts over.
Anyway, thread is still up, let's carry on with some more Jack O'Justice.
>>87465197
Nice
>>87465383
Fucking yes, that's how you set up a climax
>>87465395
I know right? You can hear that overly-dramatic radio music throughout the whole thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2eqX93umXo
In fact, a lot of these comics play like radio dramas, what with their narration and very short serial nature.
>>87465591
Thanks for the storytime!
>>87465601
She really earns that first name, don't she?
>>87465689
How dare you, she's a good girl who marries Jack.
Okay, how about we go completely off the rails for a bit and story time a British translation of Asterix, in fact perhaps the first English translation. Something to finish us off for the day.
>>87465926
Holy shit, what the Hell? Little Fred and Big Ed? Britons? It's the Asterix Multiverse!
At this point 'Ed' no longer factors into the billing.
You know, I wonder how future stories would have played out in this style. I'm trying to imagine all the little edits and cuts that would need to be made in order to keep up the whole 'We woz Gauls 'n shite'. It wasn't the only thing Valiant had serialised and anglicised, Belloy by Charlier & Uderzo was turned into a Saxon in the form of 'Palain the Fearless'.
I hear similar things happened with Commando comics in Portugal, where the characters were somehow able to find Portugese ancestry, at least that's what I've heard from a friend of mine. I'd be interested to see what other 'naturalisations' of characters there are.
>>87466325
Action Force comes to mind too, turning all the GI Joe characters british.
>>87466390
True, do you have/know of any Action Force comics?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1RBEqRt52Y
I'd love to read more about these guys, especially in their fight against the Red Shadows, i.e. literally Nazis.

>>87466697
Cheers lad, top shelf stuff right there.
>>87466697
Based
>>87456005
Gor' lummee! It's like Ken Loach wrote comics - reet grim, but bloomin' brilliant! Cheers, me duck!
Okay, just one more thing.
>>87457646
Okay they're just making stuff up as they go along now
>>87468932
That's the problem with a two-page format.
It's a shame, because many of these stories do have characters I'd be interested in reading about. Hopefully we might see more Johnny Red style revivals, though in the case of Jack O'Justice I hope it keeps the atmosphere and adventuring attitude.
Speaking of making stuff up as it goes along, are there any RPG systems that could run a good adventure story like this? I think it could make for an interesting game.
>>87468820
Thanks
>>87469434
You're welcome mate.
>>87457885
The writer has something going about the dude's "strong brown hands" by gum
>>87469477
No problem
