what was interesting in that episode was Rex taking multiple hits and Ezra got hit once and they were both fine. Kanan helped Ezra move a bit, but that didn't last. So like the poor Droidekas overheating I wondered if maybe their other equipment like their blasters were suffering and not firing at full effect. Why did Vader only want their hyperdrive disabled? If he didn't want them to escape, why not just disable the entire engine so they can't get off the ground?

The AT-AT's are quite clearly shown to only be able to shoot from the front. Yet. for some reason, the rebels insist their snowspeeders only attack them from the front (where they can be shot at) as opposed to the sides or the back (where they can't get shot)

Yoda fails to act wisely. As the last remaining trained Jedi, he sends Luke alone to face off against Darth Vader: who he knows to be stronger than his son. While training Luke, he is revealed to still be very powerful (lifting the entire Fighter with no effort). When Darth Vader gives Luke the news that he is his father, Luke is hanging just a few feet away from Vader. Then, Luke decides to jump off his landing, falling to the bottom of the cloud city where Han Solo picks him up. The oddity comes here: Darth Vader is very powerful with the force, as demonstrated earlier. Why can't he use the force to prevent Luke from falling, or to bring Luke back to him from the hanging? Doing so should be relatively easy against the newly trained Jedi.

I wouldn't exactly call that expendable. Some of the best pilots flew the T-47s to provide cover fire for the transport ships. X-Wings had the job of escorting the transports because they contained some of the Rebellions higher ups. They were a bit more Important but the idea is they thought they had the time to hold the Imperials and evacuate the heavy equipment. While Rogue group did their job they took heavy casualties and lost some irreplaceable equipment but they had to get the special personnel off-world. I can't see that as expendable.

Yeah, I think Obi-Wan was holding back until it was clear Luke had exhausted all other avenues of training/knowledge. I think the bigger question is whether this was something Obi-Wan decided himself, or if there was some other factor preventing him from acting until then, since he and Qui-Gon have both implied there are constraints that keep them from getting further involved.

I think people underestimate Luke's knowledge of the prequel era. I think he probably believes tba Clone Wars was a war started by some Jedi named Count Dooku and eventually at the end of the war the rest of the Jedi joined the Separatists and attempted to take over the Republic. Then the Separatists lost and the Republic was reformed into the Empire. Not too in detail where he knows specific names (outside of Dooku and Grevious since they were probably as well known as Hitler and Mussolini today). I think people don't realize that 1: the Clone Wars and formation of the Empire are about as important as World War 2 and the fall of the Soviet Union in today's world and 2: Luke was a clever kid who may have been somewhat knowledgeable about politics given that he was enthusiastic about the Rebellion when he was cleaning 3PO in ANH.

Was Darth Vader really forgiven by the entire galaxy after his brief redemption? I'm honestly baffled because like 99% of Legends and canon material depict him doing outrageously evil or cruel shit with zero remorse even if he doesn't always (if ever) enjoy any of it.

No. He was seen as Hitler. Imagine of right before Hitler killed himself he ordered the release of all prisoners from concentration camps and have all Nazi tactical info to a US general to ensure an ally victory? This may have happened for all we know but even of this were to be revealed tomorrow the world wouldn't see Hitler as that different. You also have to take into account that Vader was considered a myth until the New Republic took over.

No, and I don't know where you got this idea. Only Luke seemed to think of him as redeemed- the galaxy at large probably has no idea that he had a last minute team switch right before dying, and if they did it wouldn't matter. Even Leia doesn't forgive him despite what Luke said because he at least has the benefit of seeing his father as a good man one last time- Leia's only memories of him are horrible.

Also, this becomes a plot point in Bloodline, where Leia's connection to Vader being made public destroys her political career.
