How would you write it?

Scott Pilgrim is shit so I wouldn't.

I would use it as an excuse to expose the incredibly fappable cast to my depraved fetishes.
So lots of weight gain and hypnosis episodes.
Scoot Pilgrim was pretty comfy-tier, bumping for interest.
>you will never live Scott's life; have a circle of friends, be in a band, have several love interests, live in Canada
why continue

I want this.
I will never have this.

Scott doesn't have friendS. He has one friend he mooches off of shamelessly and a circle of people who barely tolerate him.

Kim's his friend, though he does emotionally leech off of her.

Badly.
I've actually thought about this a lot. I'd love making a Scott Pilgrim animated show that explores high school shit, basically expanding on that Adult Swim Scott Pilgrim animated short that came out before the movie.
Whenever I read Scott Pilgrim, I get this very distinct, unique feeling (maybe it has something to do with my experience with cold places, Canada, high school love, being a dumbass, being a dumbass, having "brain fog" for a long time, magical realism), and I need to somehow try and capture that in the story.
Keeping the story in this specific time period has certain things to consider. We need to have some sort of meaningful emotional arc for the characters while not somehow ruining the impact of the books (considering this tv show os canon, which is what I want).
Plus, I don't want it to have any silly tumblr-esque elements, shitty high school drama, or cheap childish humour. I'd much, much rather have something more earned and genuine.
