How does /co/ feel about Fantastic Planet? I haven't really

Anybody?

Visually very interesting. A gorgeous movie.

However it feels a little too "weirdness for the sake of weirdness." Great visuals in service of nothing. I got bored and turned it off after 15 minutes. The same thing happened to me with Tree of Life for example.

I'm sure this makes me an idiot or something.

I watched this movie in it's entirety when I was 4 years old. Mum ended up putting it on while scrolling through the channels on tv and thought it was just some cartoon for me to watch. Needless to say it scared the hell outta me but I couldn't stop watching it for a single second. Especially that part where all the people start getting killed by the giant machinery and rolling ball?

Movie has had a weird influence on me. What it is I'm not particularly sure. Probably my love for surrealism. But I watched it again last year, pretty unique movie I gotta say.

Fantastic Planet. Some really surreal French animation where humans have somehow come to find themselves on an giant alien planet where they are perceived as pets at best and pests at worst.

Same. When I showed it to friends I put it on x2 speed and they still felt bored.

Was great to see at midnight at a theater with the balcony to myself and my tasty burger.

I enjoyed the 70s weirdness but thought the ending was rushed. The pacing of the little human encampent once they get a settlement going made me thing there'd be a few more scuffles with the aliens before a more serious climatic fight but it's like three dudes show up and somehow one of them has the broadcast equipment that makes things go to shit.

I might not remember the details too well tho
