What a lot of fans liked about BTAS was the way that the writers got into the villains' heads and fleshed out their motivations. In some cases (Mr. Freeze), the villains were extremely sympathetic.

not to mention that some things had a litle bit of weight, for once. For example, the clayface arc. Or the way Kirk Langstrom gets used by penguin, and after that, more or less goes "nah, I don't want no part in this" and stops being Man-Bat.

The Batman's take on it was okay, but BTAS's take on the character was better. It probably helped that BTAS had Ron Perlman as Clayface's VA.

The scars were interesting, she was a female Batman for the hard part of being batman, the whole soldier of justice with a tortured past.

The illiterate part was a really good character trait, unique, that could further an story, like Daredevil blindness, or Barbara's wheelchair.

How many superheroes can't read?, or female heroes that are canonically scarred, and aren't villlains?
