I really like Abnett's work on Aquaman, so I trust him with this, but the editorial needs to figure out what the fuck to do with Earth 2.

They need to ditch Val-Zod and make Peeg the main hero of the Earth 2 universe. If he's just there to fill the role of Black Superman its dumb. Calvin Ellis (Pres Supes) is wayyyyy better and more interesting.

Dude, Val-Zod when he was first introduced seemed interesting. He was basically Flashpoint Superman. A kryptonian skinny kid who was raised by the US government in some bunker and because of that was naive and scared about everything.

You could do tons of things with him. But what did they do with the character?

Out of nowhere he became a generic tall and buff black alpha male who wasn't afraid of anything and kicked tons of ass, no to mention that Power Girl was all over his dick the minute she showed up. He became the most generic black male character and superhero ever.

They essentially killed the character.

I found it funny that Tom Taylor pretty much did a Flashpoint redux once he got the title.

He introduced a black not-Flashpoint Superman and a Not-Flashpoint Thomas Wayne Batman in it. He even had Lois as a cyborg to do a sort of Not-Flashpoint Cyborg thing.

I'm actually surprised that he didn't do some Not-Flashpoint Captain "Thunder".

Thomas Wayne Bats was best Bats. I wish they'd kept him. I hate Dick Bats. His costume is soooo terrible and he has zero qualifications to be a batman. I could even accept if he was like an ex-cop or even a thug from the streets that fought A LOT. I know that Abnett has been desperately trying to revive the corpse of a universe Earth-2 was when he got the book but to be honest, after a certain point, should he even bother? Seriously it's been in chemotherapy since the start of his run but it still hasn't actually been good, just not vomit on paper like it used to be. When the damage is this extensive I don't think one should bother.
