I'm also salty about this, and especially salty about how in the west, the cartoon industry is ruled entirely by toy companies. Nobody can make anything animated without toy companies looming over and going "Okay, but what kind of toys can we sell with it?"

There is no such thing as art for its own sake here, and animation is inexorably linked to children's entertainment. It's depressing.

On a serious note, I'm salty AF that its the last day if Halloween, then we go into fucking thanksgiving, does anybody even really like thanksgiving? Besides the food and football, like I have never heard anyone say "oh man, thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!", like its so lame, it doesn't even have its own specials on TV, like its probably the least popular out of the big 3 holidays tbqh.

I miss action animation being good. I haven't watched any cartoons for a while besides Rebels and even that show is just spinning its wheels with filler.

Genuinely, right now, I would not bet on it even happening at all. Lost director: shooting dates are probably being pushed back. Start pushing people's schedules around and suddenly they're not all going to be available, so costs go up or people walk because they're already committed to other projects. You can easily push it back a year just by losing one key player, and every time that you lose someone, you have to make the same decisions about new hire/altering the dates.

Five years later people are still waiting and you're being called the new Del Toro.

If we get into the new year and they're still on for their original shooting dates, fine. But five years from now, if they haven't made it, Fox might not even hold the rights any more.

It was barely pornography to begin with. Ever since the 1970s it's been competing with Hustler and others in terms of how hard it's willing to go, and guess what, a magazine/porn brand aimed at men which exclusively does soft porn - very soft - doesn't sell in an age where everybody over the age of 11 has seen a gangbang on the internet. Tastes changed.

The fact that they've gone to the same model as GQ and others - occupying a niche which was popular 20 years ago and is now itself dying out - doesn't indicate a bright future either way. Which is probably why they're selling up everything. It's the end of an era.

Now, what they could have done - which Hef would have been on board with, when he was still running shit - is switch from male-oriented to female-oriented porn, because that's a largely unfilled market and it's easier to compete if you've got a quality product. But again, compare Playboy's traditional reticence of showing a little labial flesh (or god forbid an anus) to something like hotguysfuck.com, which is a modern, hardcore female-oriented porn effort in the region Playboy would be aiming to occupy.

If you're just complaining that famous women don't strip off for Playboy any more (as opposed to their traditional fare of twentysomethings looking to make modelling money on the side) well, duh. The paparazzi orgs offer better money and the fashion is for naturalistic beach shots or whatever, not Playboy's formal setting.

How is that a problem? After 3 whole decades of doing nothing but that I'm glad comics are finally starting to stray away from it. It just got old fast, not to mention the darker tones that was practically mandatory since the 90s ruined a huge amount of comics and characters. Hell, characters like Slapstick are still getting fucked over by it.
