Welcome back Anons! Before we go back to Bendis, let's read a miniseries about the Immortal Weapons, starting with everyone's favorite lightning-tossing giant, Fat Cobra!
It's going to be relatively light on commentary tonight, because I'm REALLY damn tired.
Oh, before I forget, the reason this thread is so late? I call it the "Bendis Blues", where I suddenly realize "Oh fuck, I have to read Bendis again, and I suddenly lose all will to post.
Oh neat, these guys were interesting
>>87289390
>>87289366
im hyped boiiiii <3
>>87289433
Shame they only got the one mini to themselves.
Yeah, not the stories you want your wenches to hear about you.
Unless they're the "depression wenches".
>1924
So Fat Cobra is old enough to have been one of the Immortal Weapons who fought Orson.
So yeah, THIS is what Fat Cobra had to kill.
That don't look like no snake
Most people only know about Elsa Bloodstone, thanks to Nextwave, but her father Ulysses was actually a known character himself. He was part of the Marvel Presents series, which was most famous for being the first series where the Guardians of the Galaxy got their first appearances, after appearing in various other books over the years.
And >>87289654 is what happens when I try to plan ahead what I'm going to say.
>Volstagg, Fat Cobra, and Hercules all on the same page
I swear to god, I would read a book about this trio.
>>87289654
>took advantage of you sexually
jesus that's dark
>he has the tattoos on again
I swear, I think being able to summon the tattoos may actually be a power he can do.
>>87289758
Yeah, this story isn't turning out how Fat Cobra wanted it AT ALL.
How lewd.
>>87289857
oh no i dont like the sound of that
And suddenly this story is a lot less funny.
>>87289875
You shouldn't, Anon.
Remember, there's no Wolverine-esque explanation for his amnesia in this. It's just time. At a certain point he just FORGOT he killed them all.
Okay, NOW bring the depression wenches
>>87289946
Seems he'd rather the depression booze.
>writer: Jason Aaron
>Danny still sporting the V-neck
>Luke dressed normally
So this is in the Bendis years, but before Immortal Iron Fist actually starts.
>Danny and Misty work together as his dojo
Oh good, time for Spider-Tits now.
And the last Bride is back.
It's funny how Marvel was this close to making a franchise out of Iron Fist and then did nothing with all this material.
>>87290225
Hell, between Fraction's Defenders (yes, I remember the ending, but still) and The Living Weapon, it seems like it may have been intentional, for whatever reason.
>>87290462
>>87290443
>>87290428
bumping, also this is pretty nuts
I like this chapter but at the same time I don't like that we learn nothing about the bride.
Storytime is kill
>>87290482
Thanks Anon.
>>87290564
Sorry, had to smack my modem a bit.
>>87290710
nobody stretches the limits of what can be called "Kung fu" like her.
How do you learn the neck choker spike move
All that, and we literally learn NOTHING?! Fuck, we don't even see what she had to kill, or how she got thousands of Spiders inside her?
>>87290760
I dunno, Prince of Orphan's Kung fu was "turn into mist", which is pretty bullshit.
>have the bride of nine spiders barefoot and partially clothed
>doesn't give her a foot rub and the butt love
Never read this so Thanks!
>>87289813
Oh my
Don't tell me, the water's going to eventually threaten to drown her?
And now Dog Brother #1's origin... or at least, I hope it's actually an origin.
>>87290927
We heavy rain now
>1841
Fuck, no wonder Danny's the weakest of the Immortal Weapons. All of them seem to be older than him, except MAYBE the Bride of Nine Spiders.
>>87290783
>All that, and we literally learn NOTHING?! Fuck, we don't even see what she had to kill, or how she got thousands of Spiders inside her?
nope and we never will. It's weird all the other chapters are basically origin or history stories but this is just spooky spider horror.
>>87289424
How did he find all of this out????
>>87290953
I was actually going to make the joke about how much I hated heavy rain if they actually did that bit.
>>87290979
If we got her origin AND spooky spider horror, I wouldn't have minded, since it was spooky. But you can be creepy AND have an origin story.
>>87289515
> depression wenches
Makes me think of Teen Titans Raven
>>87290985
Presumably just old fashioned legwork. "Where's the earlier place Fat Cobra remembers being at, and does anybody there remember how he got there, and does anybody remember where he came from, and how he got THERE..." and repeat."
>>87291011
I'll admit, I haven't read the new series, but has Raven actually gotten her own emo harem?
>>87290985
I thought the cities only overlapped with Earth once every several years, but they're making it look like you can go to Cobra Land on a boat whenever you like.
>>87291087
Yeah, that aspect of the cities is something writers just ignore on a whim, even though it's one of their defining characteristics.
>>87289756
His Pimp game was strong.
>>87290014
Stupid kids. Every time. Also lol Danny.
>>87291241
Yeah, Danny's a total goof sometimes.
>>87291281
I don't know much about gunpowder but I'm pretty sure an ax on wood wouldn't make a spark to ignite it.
>>87291322
Something, something, "ancient chinese secret"...
>>87290496
Yeah Im super confused.
>>87291376
Hit him so hard with the right that he flies left
>>87291410
um... better late than never?
>he actually has an attack called "Standard Issue Punch"
>>87291423
He doesn't seem to think so
>>87290814
Man Dannys a good dude.
>>87290835
Worst secret identity ever
So Dog Brother is basically the Dread Pirate Roberts?
>>87289331
Oh, dang. You're back.
But I'm falling asleep so I'll need to hit this tomorrow.
>>87290883
That girl should be the next Iron Fist
Dog Brother #1 best weapon.
Sucks that his whole fight was basically "pulled into spider dimension, you lose"
>>87291530
Nope, you're getting random little girl, and you'll LIKE IT!
>>87289390
Welcome back, reading bump
>>87289390
>I call it the "Bendis Blues", where I suddenly realize "Oh fuck, I have to read Bendis again, and I suddenly lose all will to post.
Well, I certainly can't blame you for that. We've read a lot of Bendis already, it's basically the worst stuff we've read (at least the weird 90s MCP and miniseries based stuff was just bland), and we probably aren't nearly half done the Bendis shit. Like, geeze... It's like nothing but Bendis for a few years after this, isn't it?
>>87291538
Seriously, dude's got a surprisingly cool backstory, and the whole "pack chi" thing is pretty cool. It's like Davos's Steel Phoenix Chi, but without killing them.
>>87290760
Fu Manchu?
I mean, remember that moron with the double mace attached to the top of his head?
>>87291562
We have Siege, then finishing up the first New Avengers series, then do the other New Avengers series, with a few events in between (Fear Itself and AvX), and then we'll be FINALLY done with Bendis.
>>87291591
There's so much Bendis that I forgot that there was another Iron Fist series way, way down the road.
God damn it, we really ARE going Heavy Rain...
>>87291238
Love the art.
Oh, this should be interesting.
>>87291604
How'd you forget that? I've never stopped making fun of The Living Weapon.
>>87291431
Lmao. Judgement of Solomon is great.
>>87291481
That suckssss.
>>87291639
I am also very tired.
Also, I basically noped out of Marvel around Siege so I never read Living Weapon.
Fuck, and you thought SHE had weird armor.
>>87289424
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1RC_V6sfj4
>>87289496
He looks to be about a 25 lb. Baby.
>>87291523
lol. Danny looks like hes wearing PJs.
Wow, cockblocked by her dad. That blows.
>tfw girlfriend would rather listen to stories than meet you
>>87291557
Jada has some good ideas.
>>87291557
Damn you Andrews!!!!
So basically, this is Mulan, if she wanted to go to war to murder some fucking Huns, and not to save her dad.
>>87289580
I think this contradicts the Eighth City arc where First Cobra was equally Fat.
I like the idea of each Cobra being distinguished by some singular characteristic, tho.
>>87291572
Damn it kid, what about his secret identity ???
>>87291605
> Those faces
Yeeshh
>>87291762
Danny literally has the worst kept secret identity since Daredevil.
>>87291605
No not Jason! I mean Shawn, I mean Jarel
>>87289715
You forgot Googam, Son of Goom.
>"My father has much to answer for."
Oh, this should be good.
>"The women were the warriors, we were the nuturers."
Remember people, this is fiction. This same thread also has a women with spiders coming out of her tits, a fat guy who healed himself from being ripped in half by a multi-headed snake, and a boy who gains power from a pack of dogs. Let's just blame this on "Chi powers".
>>87289813
I feel like Danny did not learn comperable techniques.
>>87291826
Despite what that cover says, I did indeed forget Googam.
>>87289881
>>87289903
>his kids are all fat
I shouldn't have laughed at this
>>87291855
I dunno. Him and Misty seem to have had good sex.
>>87291855
You really think Iron Fist doesn't know any similiar moves?
>>87291861
Everyone loves a good sight gag, Anon. Shit, even Daredevil looking the wrong way at "Danny's" funeral in Power Man & Iron Fist 125 got almost got a smile out of me.
>>87289917
Well, murdering dozens of your own children seems like the kind of repressed memories exist to tamp down.
>>87289996
It says it right there, Seven Years Ago.
This is 26 year old Danny.
So literally the first thing she does when she makes it home is start up a harem? Woman has her priorities straight, at least.
>>87291872
>>87291878
I find it hard to imagine Lei Kung the Thunderer teaching his students proper nipple stimulation techniques.
>>87291878
Sex actually seems like something that Danny's good at, if certain women are to be believed.
>>87291962
They learn those moves from forbidden kung-fuk manuals that get snuck around the city.
>>87291930
That outfit is impractical.
>>87291978
Damn Danny looks short.
I guess Danny should also be teaching them how to swim
The side story makes me think that Danny would make a great dad.
All ight, and we're finishing off with John Aman, the Prince of Orphans himself!
>>87292039
Maybe spoke too soon anon?
>>87292005
What? He cant make himself strong enough to bend those things? Or call Misty???
Okay, so this doesn't look to be an origin, just a "day in the life".
Granted, being mysterious actually IS his deal.
>>87292069
The Iron Fist power is weird. It doesn't make him STRONGER, so much as it increases the strength of his punches. He can't BEND the bars, but he is able to punch them apart.
>he actually is that damn tiny
>"I instantly knew that this was no mere chinese dragon. It was from K'un Lun."
>"That's not possible."
The fuck you mean Danny? What happened to all the Dragon Lords that got stuck on Earth after you tried merging it with K'un Lun?
>>87292092
Danny shirtless on a disgusting New York train. Gross
>>87292103
Thats strange and specific.
>>87292128
Looks like Danny and Luke are holding hands there. Also we need more team ups with them. Look how quick Luke was ready to go. That's Fucking friendship.
>>87289996
I like seeing Danny and Luke team-up like this in modern times.
>Prince of Orphans vs Ghost Army
>>87292138
Seriously where is his shirt?
>>87292287
We LOTR now.
>>87292211
Lmao Fuck you John.
That John story shows how damn goofy Danny is.
>>87292377
He reminds me of the Spectre here.
>"John, it's been three days. I can't feel my toes."
>"You did well. Your counterpart, Fat Cobra, began grousins after only twelve hours. Of course, Tiger's beautiful daughter went nine days."
>>87292496
Lol Danny.
And that's it for tonight, Anons. See you next time, because god help us, we read Siege.
These are interesting stories, but really drop the ball on explaining the mystical part of the cites.
>>87292593
What the Dick is wrong with Danny's face??!
>>87292593
Thank you for your time and sacrifice. Of sanity.
>>87292103
He just called Danny by name in public. Good job on protecting identities!
>>87292092
Danny looks attractive n this style.
>>87290225
We could have delved more into the other cities, and their books of their Immortal Weapon, action figures, table top game, and yet...nothing.
>>87289331
Bump for COBRAASAAAAAAAAAA
Shit, Fat Cobra could really fuck up GI Joe
>>87291007
>You have to eat once every three days to keep up your strength.
Stop with these feels.
>Sidai ;-;
>>87289756
Wait, did Fat Cobra cuck Charles Xavier of is it just that Shi'ar all look the same?
>>87291007
I imagine the Spider Kindom's 'Shou-Lao' is a giant spider that impregnates each Bride with her "Children". That gives you a creepy and disturbing origin, that would fit with canon. The reason she might not have a canonised origin, is they wanted to keep her mysterious, and thought an origin would ruin the mystique~?
>>87291978
>Colleen
At least he thought to call her, she got forgotten in "The Pulse".
>>87292092
Tbf, you could just look up "The Amazing Man" origin, aia it hasn't been de-canonised.
>>87291087
Could be more like Themyscira most of the time.
>>87294353
Is it actually the same John Aman? I thought the name was just a cheeky reference.
>>87291481
So the city has no demon? Or is it a ritual to avoid having to deal with the Demon?
>>87291988
Do you really need a practical outfit when roided on Tiger Ki, superhuman martial arts, and literally tear trough steel without effort?
>>87292595
Agreed. Bru and Fraction set up a lot of super explorable elements with the Eight Cities and the other Immortal Weapons, and very little depth was given to any of it.
It's one of the reasons Swiarczynski was a let down to me. The Eighth City getting discovered because they beat Lizard Neck the Mid Boss, and the Eighth City not really backing Xao was a lot of missed opportunity.
>>87291326
>>87291343
Wait a second, if they killed that cop, why not take the opium back? Then the gang wouldn't be angry at them.
>>87297815
Not all of them seem to.
>>87302563
Then what makes them weapons? I dunno it seems strange. Especially since we know these are titles.
>>87292128
Shirtless Danny was clearly this artist fetish.
>>87302799
Combination of fantastical abilities and chi manipulation.
Danny, for instance, can manipulate the dragon's chi to make fire-like effect.
Fat Cobra, using the snake's chi, seems to be able to use electricity.
Whatever John Aman or the Bride of Nine Spiders did, it lets them turn to use chi to turn into mist or... whatever her weird spider things are.
Dog Brother is weird in that he didn't have to kill a monster or anything, but he is able to join in the Chi of his Dog pack, which also seems to give him empathy or a hive mind with them.
Hes not shown here, but Davis was shown killing Crane Women to use their chi to empower himself, most notably to make a new hand after Tiger's Beautiful Daughter cut it off in the tournament.
Speaking of Tiger's Beautiful Daughter, she seems unique in that she doesn't seem to have any obvious supernatural abilities like the rest, since even her other soldiers seemed just as strong as her.
>>87303100
Man the crane ability seems really impractical especially if it kills the women unlike Dog Brother. Danny's origin and abilities seem cooler than everyone but John.
>>87289917
Why were the kids so mad at him? Seems like their moms should be to blame here.
>>87303203
It's unknown if all Cranes are like that, or if that's just because Davis isn't a true Crane.
>>87303100
Tigers Beautiful daughter is easily the lamest in that group. Nothing she's done since the tournament seems impressive.
>>87290835
Is Spongeboy an in universe Spongebob replacement because Marvel isn't Viacom, or is Spongeboy a cheap dollar store knockoff of Spongebob that Jada has merch of because she's poor?
>>87303273
Her and Dog brothers abilities seem both the lamest but also the most martial arts like if that makes sense.
>>87290971
>First Opium War
Man, the Taiping Rebellion is seriously goddamn ignored in these Chinese backstories isn't it?
>>87291087
Even more galling that that- The entire tournament arc was justified as being that the winner of the tournament got to have their city get the 10 year rotation, and everybody else got a much longer like 70 year rotation instead.
>>87303637
Editorial was slacking. Especially with the Konrad story. If most people don't know about Kun Lin then how the hell did this random guy find out this info? How did no one notice or tell Danny about Fat Cobra the actor and war vet?
>>87303100
Didn't Danny do mind-melds and healing?
>>87292261
But Danny, the last dragon you faced was Chiangtang.
>>87289331
Whoa, that guy from Gambit vs. Deadpool already existed? He felt like a joke one-time character.
>>87292593
What's wrong with his faaaaaaaace
>>87292644
It almost looks like he got bitten by a were-Pepe.
>>87305766
Yeah, Fat Cobra is one of the most popular of the Immortal Weapons.
