Logan is more complicated than that. He has that wisdom that comes from someone that lived his long life among any kind of horrible experiences.

Actually, he's a pretty good character. However, Marvel really over-exposed him. Part of that particular problem was that a lot of writers have a problem writing Wolverine. It's easy to write a quick-and-dirty Wolverine (lots of snikt, lots of bub), but it's difficult to write him well.

If I was scripting a Logan story I'd do it simple: him just trying to find a bar to get wasted in and everywhere he looks there's PTSD flashback triggers for the literally centuries of traumatic shit he's seen.
