Superman is pretty much an oddball character, most people would rather sacrafice the powers if it means basically having no one to answer to the way Batman does. Superman works more as a character who you have to admire for the breadth of his adventues and exploits, trying to self insert or relate to him is pretty pointless and will just lead to you being frustrated.
